New Forum Suggestions

Its nice to have this platform again! I welcome it and lets see what can be done here. However there are some minor wishes that come to mind looking at the forum as it is right now (brand new, paint still wet).

  • Theme options or a less contrasty "black & white" theme (why not Squad Website grey?)
  • Maybe some of the emojis from the discords?
  • A wider layout? on a 1440p screen i feel like writing on a post-it :-D
  • Maybe a bit more info displayed on the person posting
  • Maybe OWI Team Members name in Yellow to diretly see the difference?
  • The ability to switch times between AM/PM and 24h
  • remove the written out words next to the reaction icons (like, agree, lol) it looks messy and people will be able to handle it without
  • personal flavour: navigation left or top but right is letting me not sleep at night its so strange

thats it for the most part im curious to know what other people here might have to add.

As stated: its suggestions and not "oh you did everything bad fix the forums" 👍️

    The ability to only quote part of another persons post or comment and not the entire post would also be a nice feature

    Edit feature especially is a big thing imo. Recruitment and modding posts need regular updates.

    Also I was wondering if there is a way to make the forum a bit more easy to navigate. Like general also has a few suggestion posts in it so maybe transfer those to here?

    But all in all, happy to have the forum back :D

    Being able to edit your own posts and quote a specific part of someone else's post is a must have.

    I second this.

    The forum is based around the "reaction buttons" yet they don't stand out very well, and just seem like another option with "flag & quote"

    However reactions are paramount to this communities setup, so they should remain in a clear, and encouraged area, they could change colors from white to yellow when utilized to encourage others to click those buttons as often as possible.

    Also please add a "server feedback" section again, for example server [CI] Corrupted Infantry uses the server-side option "announcements" (ingame-messages) way too often imo, ruining immersion.

    Like many others already said a edit function for posts would be great. If you dont want to give everybody the option to do this (what I wouldnt really understand, because its a fundamental), then you could do it like on youre discord. give the modders/recruiters a role, which allows them to do this. I think that would help out quit a little.

    Here are some suggestions for features I'd really like to see implemented in the game that I think would keep players interested in the game and add some attraction to new players. I couldn't find a feed back or official email address to send my suggestions to so I figured this would be the place.

    Some sort of progression system. Can be rank that can be seen in the tab menu and you get promoted based off of the scored gathered from completing a game.

    Some sort of aesthetic unlocks. similar to how hell let loose allows simple unlocks that are purely aesthetic and makes your character a bit unique.

    Some sort of simple weapon modifications. Example: Basic Rifleman class Starts out with irons by default and can later unlock a red dot, to a holo, to a 2x scope. Or different types of grips. Something to make playing a specific class more interesting, but base weapons stay the same or similar.

    Statistics tracking. I think this would be really big especially for players like me who have had the game since pre-alpha where I could keep track of my best games or overall total kills or headshots or highest scores or best weapons.

    Thanks I hope one of the devs sees this or someone. I don't think these changes would negativly impact what the game is or will become and still maintain the games identity.

    We are now at that VR flash point, just like it was when I was a kid and got my brand new NES for x-mas. Several of our friends and relatives have, and are getting them this year. Its time For OWI to Drop a heavy foot in VR over then next year or 2. The VR fruit on the tree is about to Pop.

    Explain to us first why are you not focusing on improving the game performance and gameplay mechanics rather than focusing on adding useless factions like the Aussies and etc.

    I think that after the chinese and australian factions, even the german and the italian factions should be added. Then, the recoil when firing semi-auto is too much, that's almost the same as the auto's recoil. Surely needs to be a bit lower. Instead the accuracy it's perfect in all the two firemods.

    With the Aussie Faction could we maybe also see the East Timor side of it with the AUS M113A3s as that was one of the big wars that happened if you weren't deployed to Iraq just something that I had thought of you guys maybe adding as I am an Aussie and LOVE the Aussie faction you guys have added

    I would really love being able to edit my own posts ... How about a time based system (like being a member for 2 weeks or something like that) instead of being dependent on getting points for your posts in order to be able to edit them? I don't even need to be able to post links or anything like it. But being able to correct a mistake or rework something you've posted some time ago... would be quite nice and a pretty basic function for a forum to be honest.

    I don't really understand how a missing edit button is preventing spam. Shouldn't there be logs in the backend to document any changes a user makes to a post?

    I bet I'll probably want to edit this post here in order to correct a mistake or add something. But I won't be able to unless people award me some points for my whining 😉

    I'd recommend adding more relevant maps to todays current situation. Same thing with more new army's like Ukraine. It would make the game more immersive.

    My top painful things:

    1. Devs need main stand with GFX 1050Ti for optimizations (my friends do not play with me because of low gfx and no space on disk)
    2. Devs need setup brightness 50% on their screens
    3. Not sure what kind of bug is that, but about last 2 updates in videosettings, 3 lower bars brightness-saturation-and-something are not getting saved, so each game start I scroll down there and adjust. Once I got game profile crashed the game after update, so I had to remove it from some hacker path like user profile some applications data ... no good, you'd better keep an eye if updates affect configs like that
    4. There is tonns of situations when you go single SL. Can you give me scope plz, I believe any country may supply seargant with scope.
    5. RU SL with x1 scope carry 1 nade, but all others have 2. Can we be equall plz.
    6. I'd like to have more options for SL kit, at least switch tracer ammo on choice, let other kts to remove x2 scopes
    7. Most thing I don't understand, why I should reload SPG each time I take a seat. Not sure, but first rocket already loaded should fall off from muzzle then. Same for MG turrets, it is fair to check if it is loaded and so on, but why should it take that long...
    8. People manning turrets and emplacements should lower their heads, you could just angle the models right way.
    9. Fix the weapon swing of crawling soldier. It should impact less than quickscoping, because for now I believe it twise worse.
    10. Turn off bust from Autofire, let me plz shoot x2 burst from AK when it is on full auto. Also plz let me shoot single shot from MG on full-auto
    11. I'm not sure, but sinper rifle shot happens like several times slower than any other weapons. If I shoot from rifle up to 100m, bullet lands well. But 100m shooting from sniper rifle requires prefire way harder, like I shoot 300m, and the farer the worse.

    Also, I'd like to provide with my friends feedback. he didn't play arma, he has no imprinting syndrome.

    He said, gameplay feels so wooden. Worse even in RUST. I move different than I expect, I shoot different than I expect, I kill different than I expect.

    Unfortunately I have no any clue how it is possible to fix. I remember how it feels in all Armas, Tarkov - as for me all fair. maybe it is about swap stances. kills in Insurgency are processing more accurate, but bullets have no projectile there.

    I play via 3g. It has packets loss, by ISP and 3g device as well. Alltpogether. Client decides I disconnect, but there is normal packet loss timeout.

    Also I have 2 networks for reliability. Network swithc may happen during the game. Since last update, anticheat loses steam auth or something, I think because of IP change or something like that. can you plz do not affect me with this

    Dear developers, in your game there are maps that serve as analogues of the battles in Donbass and Crimea, but for some reason American troops are fighting there. I would really like to see a separate faction of the Ukrainian Armed Forces under these maps, I hope our idea will inspire you.

    Dear developers,

    I was wondering if u would ever increased the server size by another 100 so 200 pop games so we are able to have bigger battles and more diverse battles with armor and mechanized vehicles. it would also better simulate battles as you are going for realism. currently, u maybe get 2 v 2 tanks (unless ur on the tank layer) with a few infantry on but struggle to kill them if ur tanks are lost.

    It would also be interesting to see attack choopers or little birds in the game but I know that would be hard to balance

    Hi Devs,

    Just had a few ideas running in my mind which I wanted u guys to know.

    1. We should get more improved armour in the russian side such as the t80 or t90 and the bmp3 or bmpt as well as other factions like US, Canada, Brtish etc. We need howitzers as well. Atleast give us the current models in IRL for the armour so that it becomes more immersive, fun and interesting.

    2. Detail the maps like there will be some points which will be wastelands and some points will be clean like the maps are now. Because some maps freaking look like there's no war rather its a park we got into. Those different points would bring more immersion. Just point out the most engagement points and detail those as wastelands and keep the rest of it untouched.

    3. Add ground vehicle crashing sounds such as sounds where vehicles hits a barrier or sometimes gets scratches. Make the trees shake when vehicles hit and for the smaller trees that we can go through, we want them to lean over and then come back up after some time or just leave them like that.

    4. Add details where some buildings can be destroyed also.

    5. Add bug reporting option.

    Thats it for now. Would be awesome if u guys take these into note and make the game even more fun to play as its gonna boost up the contents and make the game more true to life.

    Dear Devs,

    I hoe you keep an eye on this tree... I see most my issues were adressed within game developement progress. It is really cool.

    I came with new suggestion.

    I was surprized how better game works in DX11 mode, but unfortunately there is a problem - in this mode videosettings do not allow to adjust that option, which controls reticle quality, so it stays blurry because of ghost images and it is impossible to adjust it to reliable state. Also, in DX11 mode I have problems with adjusting contrast and brightness for sandmaps and darker maps, so reticle is almost invisible on bright background.

    To fix it, maybe you could make an option for switching between static image based reticle and rendering reticle? And this image based reticle need to be in good contrast for bright backgroud.

    Scope reticle, like scope crosshair patterns. For RU AK especially. Also US AR15. US Marines Heavy MG's one becomes almost transparent, almost invisible and distance numbers not readable, unless you hold breath.

    Less affected - Red Dot/Cobra (these lose brightness twice when moving)

    By option which I cannot find I also don't mean that there was dedicated option for scope, I mean there was some option from common video options, which made this effect on some value, I just don't remember which one it was before

    When players "SCOPE" (shoulder his weapon) the FOV and the DOF (depth of Field) affect the "reticule / pattern " of the OPTIC.

    One of the solution should be works on different FOV during the SCOPE phase. anyway im not game dev or GD , the process in this game is bad, but they find solution on MEE for exemple...

    Also, this is immerssiv by the way ;). In real life you can walk and scope at the same time and have a perfect view 🙄
