Squad won't launch (UE4-Crash Reporter, Assertion failed)

Sgt JensSgt Jens Member Posts: 2 Civilian

Good (or not so good) morning fellow squaddies.

Yesterday, i installed Dead by daylight to play with my girlfriend.

After the intro-scene it crashed everytime. So i got annoyed and uninstalled it again and turned back to squad.

Now my Squad game keeps crashing on startup with following error message showing in UE4-Crash reporter:

I tried so many solutions:

  • Uninstall EAC and reinstall
  • Re-Install Squad using a back-up
  • Re-Install Squad
  • Activating Debug-Mode for NVIDIA
  • Choosing GPU instead of auto GPU selection in NVIDIA
  • Uninstalling Discord

Im slowly loosing my mind, squad is my favourite game and i put in hundreds of hours without significant crashes. What can cause this damn issue?

I realy need your help, i soon have holidays, and i finally get to play again but now my game doesnt work...

    There seem to be a bunch of people with the same issue, you're not alone. Hopefully that also means that the problem will be investigated soon.

    I just had this same problem and, at least in my case, uninstalling and reinstalling worked.

    Had the same problem today. A reinstall fixed it for me.

    I have the same problem, did you find a way to solve it?

    I am having the same issue. I have repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled the game, updated drivers and I have followed the instructions of a few people I found on the internet who had some suggestions for solving this issue but it still persists.

    The thing that I appreciate Squad is that I have purchased multiple copies of this game, sent it as gifts to people, and recently purchased another copy for $60 after I convinced a friend to purchase it...

    ...and no one here even has the courtesy to reply. This issue in this thread is persistent.

    With that F**K YOU Offworld Industries. Of course, once a company gets so big they ALWAYS stop giving a f**k about their player base.

    So again: F**K YOU

    Here's the fix, provided by another player.

    1. Go to "C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\SquadGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor"

    2. Under this directory you'll see "GameUserSettings.ini"

    3. Make a copy of this file to your desktop just in case if it didn't work then you can reverse

    4. Go ahead and double click open this file

    5. Find the line where it says

    FSR2Mode=(Value=1)

    FSR2Quality=(Value=3)

    FSR2Sharpness=(Value=0)

    6. Change the value to 0 like below

    FSR2Mode=(Value=0)

    FSR2Quality=(Value=0)

    FSR2Sharpness=(Value=0)

    7. close and keep the change

    8. Launch the game

    good luck

    If you cannot find the appdata folder simply search for SquadGame.
