A map marker to indicate that you think something might be at a certain location but you are not entirely sure.

Currently we often have people putting down a Rallypoint marker to mark stuff they don't have a different marker for, perhaps a marker with a question mark would be nice in these situations?

I personally don't care for something like this. I see where you're going, and I do understand where you're coming from because I also do the same sometimes, but I am personally okay with just putting the rally there, and calling it a day.

I would rather not encourage people to mark things speculatively.

In a game like squad, where information and communication are key, marking things that are not really there is only hindering the team. If you believe there is a HAB or tank or something at a certain location, then find a ways to get binoculars on it and figure out what's actually going on.

Not a fan of the first suggestion; I can see it becoming something where they suspect something, throw the mark on it, and leave it to be someone else's problem. Some people already do that, I know, but a marker specifically for it only serves to promote that practice than discourage it. If you suspect something, call it out or request permission to check it out. The difference that can be made by taking the time to check it out is literally game-changing.

As for your second point, I like that a lot. I've found myself asking in command comms who placed this mark/is it accurate only to be met with silence or "nah wasnt me". Give's SLs some responsibility regarding marks they throw all over the map.

Normally, when you place a marker you give some info about it or not? Like I have never put a marker on the map and not said anything about it in local, squad or direct command chat .... might just be me being weird I guess?

So I don't really see the point of the first suggestion. Like if you are unsure about the location there are 2 ways to react:

    1. you got shot from the general direction => putting an infantry marker down is not a problem what so ever, even if it's not the exact spot of the enemy, its still a good indication
    2. you expect an enemy to be there => you don't need markers for that, just ask in voice chat if there is something there or not and then put a marker on the map

The question mark suggestion is then kinda answered with my previous answer: if you are unsure or just guessing: communicate and find out. In some pub matches, the map is already very crowded with people putting random markers down and just never removing them. Adding an extra marker for "unsure targets" will make the map only more crowded and difficult to assess
