Information On All Chinese Equipment
This thread is used to collect information about infantry equipment and combat vehicles in China. OWI had a roadmap for "Pan-Asia" aka PLA Ground Force in the game. This thread is here to provide some information on Chinese equipment so that OWI team can develop a more authentic PLA and save some research time.
Most of these information are also available from other game community such as Project Reality and War Thunder etc. If you have some information about PLA vehicles and equipment, you can post this topic as well.
There was a reddit post speculating PLA equipment in Squad that was done by me about a year ago (I did it after the release of MEA because I was excited about future factions). I will repost some of those image and correct some mistake I made.

AMMO: 5.8×42mm DBP88 "heavy round"
RATE OF FIRE: 700RPM
OPTICS: Iron, Unknown low-level zoom optics, similar to YMA95.
QJY88 is an interesting weapon. Chinese PLA does not deploy any "normal" GPMG in any echelon, because PLA believed QJZ89 heavy machine gun can replace regular GPMG such as M240 or PKM. Thus, they employed QJY88 as company/platoon level fire support weapon. But it's claimed that infantry found the QJY88 hard to use in formation. At company level, QJZ89 with 12.7mm ammo provide much better penetration and suppressive fire. While in platoon and squad level, QJB95 LSW can provide enough fire support power. Thus, QJY88 stuck in an awkward position. It is reported less than one thousand QJY88s were manufactured after its induction in service.
As mentioned in the original Reddit thread. PLA Ground Force employs handheld automatic grenade launchers at squad level, which is a fairly unique arrangement among world's militaries.
QLZ87

Unknown Type Scope (1) Likely called YMA87
Unknown Type Scope (2)
PF89A & PF89B
CALIBER: 80mm
OPTICS: Unknown type of optic (2.5x)
PLA Ground Force's principle light, single use, shoulder-launched, anti-tank, anti-fortification rocket launcher.
PF98A is the HE fragmentation variant, PF98B is the tandem anti tank variant
It should function similar to the RPG-26 and M136 (AT-4) in game.
Below is the sight picture for PF89
Very similar in function to RPG-7
PF89A 147m/s muzzle velocity
PF89B 140m/s muzzle velocity
PF98A
CALIBER: 120mm
OPTICS: Y/MK/PF-98(Y)-120 (4x)
PLA Ground Force's heavy anti-tank, anti-fortification recoilless gun (A Chinese M4 Gustaf). PF98A is the most common ones in 2010s.
AMMO TYPE:
DZP/PF98A-120: Tandem anti-tank
246m/s muzzle velocity
DZY/PF98A-120: Incendiary fragmentation
205m/s muzzle velocity
PF98A has a fire control sight. However, it's sight picture is unknown. It's known that the sight has ability to calculate rocket drop and lead for the shooter.
Infantry Equipment
FSL02 Smoke Grenade
There's little information available online. Only some technical details such as the grenade dimensions. Most sources are from sites like Wikipedia. It's very likely that FSL02 is a copy of M18 smoke grenade.
Type 82-2 Grenade or DSS161
Type 82-2 is the most common hand grenade in PLA Ground Force service.
DSS161 seems to be the improved version with a new designation.
QNL95 Bayonet
Chinese copy of M9 Bayonet, end of story.
Emplacement
QJZ89
QJZ89 is a Chinese heavy machine gun.
AMMO: 12.7×108mm Type 89
RATE OF FIRE: 450RPM to 600RPM
FIRE MODE: Full-auto
OPTICS: Unknown type (3x), likely named YMA89
AFT8 (HJ-8)
HJ means Red Arrow in Chinese. AFT8 is likely the military designation for it.
HJ-8 was featured in Battlefield 2, Battlefield 4 and Project Reality. It's a Chinese TOW. And that's pretty much it.
PP-87
Chinese 82mm mortar
Light Attack and Recon Vehicle
CSK181 6x6 MRAP
Chinese light protected MRAP vehicle.
Functionally similar to the US M-ATV.
It can mount either QJZ89 heavy machine gun or QLZ87 automatic grenade launcher on its remote weapon station.
Armored Personal Carriers and Infantry Fighting Vehicles
ZBL08
ZBL08 is an infantry fire support vehicle similar to M1126 Stryker. It has one driver, one gunner, one commander (a passenger in game) and seven passenger seats. The weapons include ZPT99 30×165mm autocannon, QJT88 5.8×42mm coaxial machine gun and AFT73 (HJ-73) ATGM.
ZBD04A
ZBD04A is an infantry fire support vehicle similar to M2A3 Bradley. It has one driver, one gunner, one commander (a passenger in game), and seven passenger seats. The weapons include 100mm 2A70 with 9M117M1, ZPT99 30×165mm autocannon and Type 86 7.62×54mmR coaxial machine gun
Main Battle Tank
ZTZ99A
It's speculated by basically anyone who had interest in Chinese vehicles that OWI will implement ZTZ99A as the main battle tank for "Pan-Asia" faction.
The MBT has 3 seats, a driver, a gunner, and a commander.
The weapons include ZPT98A 125mm smoothbore cannon.
The ammo types include:
DTC10-125 APFSDS
DTP125 HEAT
DTB125 Frag-HE-Tracer
GP125 ATGM
Secondary weapons include Type 86 7.62×54mmR coaxial machine gun and QJC88 12.7×108mm anti-aircraft gun.
Protection includes 81mm smoke grenade
Everything there is to know is already sent to OWI way before you made this thread, and before v1.0.
There are also inaccuracies such as PF-89B(it's PF-89-1), 89A is not simply HE-frag, it's multi purpose has armor penetrating tip(so technically tandem, with HEAT at front and HE-frag followup) that can do 20mm RHA at 65 degrees.
"PF98A is the HE fragmentation variant, PF98B is the tandem anti tank variant" - you also got 89 mixed up with 98.
Because PLAmod was cancelled for the most part when OWI decided to pretend to have "pan asia" faction.
okay...I shouldn't edit my last reply...now it needs mod approval to show up. anyway, thank you for your comment!
ZSL02B (WZ550 HJ-9)
I forgot to post the TOW vehicle for PLA.
ZSL02B is a 4x4 guided missile carrier for the PLA. It equips laser beaming riding HJ-9 152 mm anti-tank guided missile, which should be fairly similar to 9M133 Kornet.
Vehicle has 3 seats: driver, gunner and commander.
also found a photo of PF98A ammo carrier, poor guy

Interesting post. I can't imagine how hard it might be to get the sight pictures for reference on a lot of these weapons and systems. Heck, even just getting good interior photographs might be hard. Just from my experience, it just doesn't seem like there is a whole lot of the super detailed stuff on the english side of the internet, though I wouldn't be too surprised if its much the same for the Chinese side.
It's actually very easy considering most of the sights are shown on tv programs that are posted to youtube.
What do you think will be the "speciality" of the pan-asia faction? For example, the English have the two reacons, Canada has the Sniper, AU has the 2 engineers etc.
I realized its going to be the grenade launchers. Cant wait!
There are two main things: high velocity grenade launcher(with FCS, as in laser rangefinder...etc.), and lightest heavy machinegun in the world(at least in the 12.7mm range).
Yes. AGL is probably Pan-Asia's special thing in Squad, and there's also no 7.62mm GPMG.
The UK's specialty if anything is its AT, the marksman kits are both laughably bad. The NLAW and their APCs are their calling card, mostly the 40mm warrior.
There is 7.62 GPMG.
The new one.
L86 got buffed when SUSAT in general got buffed.
L85 is already statistically superior to all other infantry rifles(besides the overpowered ef88) on anything except rate of fire. It *was* (again, ef88) the lowest recoiling infantry rifle, with best scope available. And SL is still the only one who gets bipod + no tracers.
Only standard primary rifle that could compete at range was G3 and that thing is nearly uncontrollable(it has both a lower skill floor and a lower skill ceiling for vast majority of infantry engagement ranges).
UK's specialty *was* its overpowered infantry and competitive vehicles(there is no real flaw to CR2 after multiple rounds of buffs making its main armor areas immune to basically any AT weapon, increased ammocapacity despite no increase to size of ammorack, two laser rangefinder seats besides the gunner's). It got replaced by AUS which has even more overpowered infantry(imagine UK but shoots faster and has scope on GPMG, which has very little recoil when standing) and less powerful apc/ifv(more powerful tank though).
QJY201. OWI won't add that one since they said in the first developer Q&A that Pan Asia is going to be based on 2010s PLA. Don't get me wrong, I WISH they add the QJY201 and QBZ/QBU191 and change their mind.
They added 40mm warrior...etc. which were stillborn.
I don't believe that we will see a TOW vehicle for the Chinese like the one you demonstrated. OWI is moving away from implementing TOW vehicles for conventional factions, let alone implementing another "safe" ATGM vehicle. If they were to even get one, I would wager China would get something like what MEA has - an ATGM carrier that is on an unarmoured car.
wooooooo look sexy!
BRDM-2 and such should be made to have crew killable. (9p148 should also have far worse firing arc and shouldn't rotate 360 degrees)
The ATGM vehicle here is not much better armored than BRDM-2.
I feel like any wheeled non-APC should be made unusable/destroyed by a center-mass LAT hit. MRAPs, TAPVs, BRDMs, etc, they all seem too tanky.
That's the case with all vehicles. Especially since they removed doubledamage bug, which was usable on logi.
Yes vehicles in general are too tanky. But I think it's more dramatic at the lighter end of the spectrum, where you can sink an AT rocket into the engine of a logistics truck and not immediately kill it.
My old post is still not approved. So here's a repost of my old post and rest of the line-up for Pan Asia (PLA)
Infantry Weapons
Marksman
QBU191
QBU191 is the current Chinese marksman rifle replacing QBU88.
In real life, QBU191 has higher accuracy (800M effective range vs 600m), much better customizability (rails) and full-auto capability. QBU88, in a pure gameplay sense, isn't very competitive among conventional factions due to its small caliber + 10 rounds magazine. On the other hand, QBU191 has 30 round magazine, which imo is much more useful than QBU88. I hope OWI can implement this weapon for Pan Asia's marksman or give it to the players as a choice.
AMMO: 5.8×42mm DBP10 or 5.8×42mm DBP191
RATE OF FIRE: 750 RPM
FIRE MODE: Full-Auto, Semi-Auto
OPTICS: QMK171A (3x) or CS/OS20A (4x-15x variable zoom)
A PLA marksman team equipped with QBU191 marksman rifle (spotter) and QBU202 sniper rifle (chambered in 8.6×70mm DBU-202)
Transport and Logistics
CTM134 and CTM132
Other conventional factions all have single-cab 4x4 or 6x6 tactical transport truck. Chinese PLA is equipped with MV3 series tactical truck with multiple configs. CTM134 is the single-cab 4x4 configuration and CTM132 is the 6x6 single cab configuration.
4x4 and 6x6 in SQUAD has virtually no difference in the gameplay.
4x4 and 6x6 chassis MV3 trucks
Vehicle should have around 12 seats (no dedicated crewman needed)
Transport helicopter
Z-9
Z-9 is a very iconic utility helicopter employed by the PLA and it was featured in Battlefield 2, Battlefield 4 and Project Reality. It's expected that OWI will implement this helicopter for Pan Asia.
Z-9 with FLIR and weapon mounts
A Bolivia Z-9 showing interior
Z-9 is slightly smaller than an UH-60, but according to various source, it can take 10 passenger and 1 pilot. So it makes virtually no difference in gameplay.
The helicopter can be fitted with QJH001 heavy machine gun, which is a modified QJC88 heavy machine gun (the same AA gun mounted on the ZTZ99A tank)
I think the problem lays in that light armored vehicle (like BRDM) having too much health in game. heavy armor should be able to take out light armored vehicle in one or two shots, making light tow vehicles have higher risk.
