(Rant) what the hell is up with Muzzle Flashes?

CaliellCaliell Member Posts: 3 Civilian

This is supposed to be milsim with with tactical positioning, including constant dread of being shot from nowhere.

Why in the effing world would you make it Battlefield Series clone? This game isn't supposed to be another World War 3/Battlefield/Call of Duty clone. Why in the world would I play the game where developers are caving in to the kids who complain about the bushwookies sitting for hours, when this is basically the bread and butter of realistic scenarios?

This game is going down the hill because of changes like this.

It ain't a milsim, first of all, and second of all, your perception of the environment is terrible in a game compared to real life. These muzzle flashes aren't that crazy.

What we do need, is proper suppression so that people can't just aim at your muzzle flash and return fire super accurately even if they're caught off guard.

Does battlefailed even have such massive muzzle flashes?

Ah the "I don't like it so it's *insert arcade shooter here*" argument. Truly a classic.

This really is a case of "too close to/exceeding arcade shooter" here.

Muzzle flash added in 2.12 can even go through some thin walls on bright sunny desert(plus performance concerns); it should only be enabled at night.

Muzzle flash render distance can be set based on this guide:

The flash is to bright. You should not see an AK light up a wall at day in the desert!

Also, mythbusters season 9 episode 8 26:49 shows you can't really see muzzle flash from downrange by around 200yds during daylight(it's not even that sunny).

Essentially it shouldn't be rendered past 100m during daytime.
