Party play with friends for MP needs to exist

boobsboobs Member Posts: 1 Civilian

Every game I play with my mates, BF2042 ... war thunder etc. has a party joining system where you can play together with your friends.

How it currently works is you hope you can all get on the same team, and most of the time if you have 3 or more people this is going to take some time, a lot of time if it's even possible. Or you have to ask an admin to switch you.

Kind of ridiculous

For a game called 'squad' you'd think this would've been added from day one.

Lack of this feature is very frustrating, and honestly stops us from playing this game more, or recommending it to be purchased ...

I think it's needed, too. Trying to get on the same team as a mate is one of the hardest parts of Squad. I'm surprised there's nobody else talking about it

The problem is when you have a big group like us and you need to organize and close over 3squad x9 players each one xD

Well, it's not really much of a problem. You could limit party sizes to 4 players. Even that would be a huge bonus.

Go seed a half empty server.

  • casuallyfilthycasuallyfilthy Member Posts: 8 Civilian

That'd be fine if there were 30 of us. But if you've got 2 or 3 friends and you want to do a couple of rounds together, why are there hurdles to do so?

  • EcchiRevengeEcchiRevenge Member Posts: 181 ★★

You don't need 30 people to seed a half empty server.

I feel like you're purposefully missing the point. Ideally, you're going to need a server with enough space for your party, so yes you will go to a less populated server. But, the real point is just being able to get into a server with a party. I don't think that's a bad thing.

You're the one missing the point; why should the server let you squeeze multiples in your party in when there are plenty of other players? What if someone else is in a party too? What gives you the right of way in that case?

If you don't like it then buy server reserve slot. Whoever doesn't have reserve slot joins in first; the ones with reserve slot join in after.

Or, take a seat and seed a half empty server. You also have the option to wait in queue until mapchange which inevitably results in people leaving/crashing. I played with larger groups than yours and never had a problem joining a game. (problem is finding a server where players aren't too dumb)

Woah, untwist those panties mate? There is no rights. It's first come, first served like everyone else. I'm not saying parties should have exceptional rights either.

If there's space, and you're in a party, and it wouldn't make it too unfair (a lee-way of 2~ people Or something? I don't have all the answers.) then what's wrong with party groups? Considering a lot of servers won't let you change teams without it being exactly even (which, is a bit of a problem unless 3 people leave.).

    It's unnecessarily complicated.

Get those sand out of your vay jay mate. Maybe learn what right of way means. Clearly it's first come first served; so if your group can't join a game fast enough, you have only yourselves to blame.

You're literally asking for exceptional rights for your group(the slower ones) over solo players.

If there is space then you should coordinate via whatever voicechat you use to join the server at same time. If you fail then at least one of you has clicked too slowly.

It's not complicated at all. If server doesn't let you change team, you can ask for admin's help - they're happy to help lest your group start ghosting.

Aye, it is. If there's space on a server for everyone, why not let a group join? If it doesn't impede anyone? That clicking thing or joining a server fast enough is all just irrelvant and quite frankly I have no idea why you're saying this makes it easier, or is necessary for a group to join together.

Thing is, if there's space, why not let a group join together. A small one. If it really is exceptional rights that you think I'm asking for, then anyone who asks for a team change is asking for exceptional rights which completely undermines your argument anyway.

Why have the need for asking admins and going through that palava for what? You've already attested that admins will do it if they're around. It'd just make the process smoother and more fun for people who want to play together, with a party launch.

Explain exactly how you see this system working and you ought to see where the problems are.

Say you are joining into a match with two buddies. The server is full so you are put into the queue. Is the server supposed to hold three slots open for you? What if players join after you in the queue? Are they supposed to wait even if there are open slots that they could join into as a solo player that you couldn't as a party player? How do you see this working?

Lets say that you and your buddies get into a server, should it put you all on the same team? I would assume so since that's the whole purpose. But remember that you wouldn't be the only person using the system. If one team is up by a couple players it doesn't matter, its when these things stack that they really become an issue. Is there a limit on how many players a team can be up by? What does this do to the players in parties waiting for a queue? Do they now have to wait not only for enough slots in the server but also one of the teams?

What I'm getting at is that it isn't as simple as you might think. It might be annoying to end up in separate squads or even separate teams for a little bit but it is certainly less annoying than having to wait extended periods in a queue. At that point it is easier just to do like we've been doing since the game existed and join in to squads and teams as they open up.

I've answered virtually everything you have to say here already.

Are you guys simply going to ignore that BF4 has the same system and it works/ed fine?

The "it maybe annoying" part, is why I made the suggestion. Because I think spending an hour in a game, or an hour and a half, that's a large chunk of an evening spare.

  • GeebusGeebus Member Posts: 90 ★★

The thing is, as far as I remember, BF4's party system just makes you all "click" the join button at the same time. This either results in you all joining the server if there are the slots or joining the queue. It doesn't guarantee you a slot on the same team unless there is the open slots. And with the queue, it doesn't end up queueing you as a group, it only secures slots one after another meaning your squad joins the open slots as they become available regardless of what team.

So it isn't really the same system and would work counter to what you would want.

  • casuallyfilthycasuallyfilthy Member Posts: 8 Civilian

BF4 isn't a guaranteed thing either, but it's a damn sight easier to play with mates than Squad is now. I love the game, and play it daily, but it would be so much simpler, easier, save so much time, if we could just party and join a server with space.

So, no, it wouldn't be counter to what I want. It makes it easier to play with friends which is what I'm pro. Currently, even right clicking to join someone's game from friend's list doesn't work properly.

If there is space then you can all click join button at same time.

Again, you only fail if some of you clicked too slowly. In which case as you admitted - first come, first served, they're just not all part of your group.

The thing is if you can't figure out how to do this (very very basic idea of teamwork - clicking something at same time; and very basic level of communication - ask admin to switch team) then I don't think you need to be in a group at all. Almost no one complains about not having a party system for a reason - the system already in-place already works.

Fyi there is a search bar for server names.
