How Does the Dev Team Use Blueprints?

Recommended Posts

How does the development team use UE4's blueprints if any at all? Are there any benefits to using blueprints over C++ as a programmer?

Blueprints?

As cage liner for the ten thousand monkeys we have writing C++ ?

It's nice cause Wide Format Plotter Paper comes in 1 meter wide rolls, fits the entire cage with one blueprint printout at a time.

We do use blueprints quite a bit. I would say that it is a valuable tool for any developer to have a bit of experience with.

We use blueprint for anything that the player is interacting with ingame where performance is not as important, things like your ui or interaction with a vehicle are not something that is spread on the network, and are not something that will bottleneck the player. Heavier backend things like networking, raytracing etc. are done in C++ where the performance is more important, and where the performance of one player affects others.
