Saw it on steam as a new release on the 15th. I immediately downloaded it.

This.  (Never heard of PR :( , Played Operation Flashpoint, ARMA, ARMA2 ARMA3, Insurgency).

I hate the lack of team play in BF3 & 4 ("KD ratio is all that matters!"). I saw that this was trying to use communication and teamwork, was trying to bridge gap between BF & Armed Assault series, thus perfect.  After about 20hrs of game play I had my moneys worth easily. Thanks to the Devs for saving my gaming life (and ruining my real world social life :) )

PR stands for "Project Reality". Squad is its spiritual successor ;)

I saw Squad here and there a few times and didn't really look directly at it. The first time I saw actual gameplay was the Oxide video Davai Hard. I thought the gunplay and AK-74 sound effect looked/sounded really satisfying.

I heard of this game August 2015 through either steam or youtube. Regardless, I bought the game eager to try it out but found my system couldn't handle it and got a refund. About 18 months later, I built myself a new desktop (Jan 2015), rebought it, and have been playing it on my off hours since.

Great game.

One of the developers was talking about it over on the Overclockers UK forum just before the game was released.

Steams categorized games with the tag #realistic . That is where i started my hunt and ended it once I found Squad. Squad literally dictates standards in the social interactions required to have successful gameplay. The work done on graphics, animation, effects, and such have been far exceeding expectations. I have referred and recruited old realism focused friends to this amazing investment keep it up team

Eavesdropping. I'm guilty. Overheard people talking about their game the night before and got hooked in. The communication aspect really got me.

Old school Project Reality fan and actually stumbled across Squad as I was looking for something that resembled it. Did not have a clue that it was the same guys. Still at stage of purchasing a rig to be able to play it but looking good forward to getting good back into the fight

Honestly I cant remember when I first heard about Squad. I remember it being a rumor more or less on the PR forums and eventually seeing a couple closed testing videos on youtube. My biggest worry is that the steam community at large would treat it like battlefield and basically ruin it. It seems to be taking the same course PR did and has stayed steady on that course of slow but steadily perfecting every aspect of the game it implements. The community also seems to be developing in a similar way to the PR community in its heyday.

All really good news in my opinion. I cant wait till its at full release but these devs have a pretty hardcore track record. More than likely you will see massive updates and a lot of new features in the years after the full release. PR still feels somewhat fresh every time I play for that same reason. I always had high hopes for this game and so far I have not been disappointed in the slightest.
