All about rebinding keys at pre-alpha

Recommended Posts

Well after doing massive amounts of homework, the key binding sets are not updated yet, its due to it being in alpha, i bought the steam controller for shits and giggles to test it out, goddam its a hard controller to use while your getting shot lol, but i see the potential when they do come with beta it make it more controller friendly. Sorry hated keyboards since i bought my first windows 95PC

Does anyone have a solution how to hook up the "Turn" function (MouseAxisX) to discrete keys like say O and P.

....Edit

This can be archieved by adding these two lines to the input.ini

AxisMappings=(AxisName="Turn",Key=I,Scale=-1.000000)
AxisMappings=(AxisName="Turn",Key=O,Scale=1.000000)

.. It seems that DefaultInput.ini is obsolete and now all default bindings is in CookedIniVersion.ini, but I gathering my courage to edit it in fear of EAC ban. :D

 @Gatzby Can you ask someone from the team, if it is OK to edit this file at this stage of development.  This "need" relates to topic:  Sorry Gatzby to disturb, but I did find a solution that doesn't directly involve CookedIniVersion.ini. I'll leave the notification here (as I do not know if it shows up on the list even if it is removed), with this explanation. Sorry for inconvenience!

Hi, from a Squad noob but did some time in PR.

Is the first part of the thread the way to go about changing key binds and still valid/functional or is there a better one?

I am Stuck on "Training Range" and can not get my "act" together in respect of mapping/binds.

Edit in,

steamapps\common\squad\squad\config\Defaultinput.ini

This file is no more so how is it done now I do wonder?

Edit in 2,

Never mind I think I solved it.

Edit in,

Never mind I think I solved it.

---

Well did fiddle around a bit,

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Squad\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Input.ini

Just change that file (no Defaultinput.ini to be found) and insert the stuff, I get the "ASD" and my "Moveforward" working as I wish that is RightMouseButton to move, and no not just me using that.

But then the mouse stop working.

Help,

Somebody must have a solution to this or?

The rest works fine enough.

So far in Input.ini

AxisMappings=(AxisName="MoveForward",Key=RightMouseButton,Scale=1.000000)
AxisMappings=(AxisName="MoveForward",Key=S,Scale=-1.000000)
AxisMappings=(AxisName="MoveForward",Key=Up,Scale=1.000000)
AxisMappings=(AxisName="MoveForward",Key=Down,Scale=-1.000000)
AxisMappings=(AxisName="MoveForward",Key=Gamepad_LeftY,Scale=1.000000)
AxisMappings=(AxisName="MoveRight",Key=A,Scale=-1.000000)
AxisMappings=(AxisName="MoveRight",Key=D,Scale=1.000000)

Should you put some statements with "turn" into this as well or?

If you're using a language other than English, try switching to English, binding, and then switching back. There's a bug in localization that causes this sometimes. If you continue to have troubles, please email [email protected]
