Hey!

I'll go straight to the point, Squad is a really good game, but I think it's missing progression. Beside me "getting better" at the game and seeing it, there is pretty much no other progression between the countless matches I have played.

My suggestion would be to add a very little and basic leveling system like in so many other games. This addition could simply be made by taking a percentage of your score at the end of matches and turning it into XP that will increase your personal level. That's it. :D

I would love to see an addition like this one in Squad because, in my opinion, one of the most important aspects of a game is progression; the player's feeling of getting better and further into the game. For the moment, in Squad, like I said, a player's evolution is simply represented by the matches he has played and how he has learned new strategies and ways to play the game. But many other games, even the hardcore ones (such as Escape From Tarkov), have decided to introduce a leveling system to let people see a certain progression between matches, presented in the form of a number, every time they go back to the main menu.

Also, just to clarify, I don't wish this leveling system to let players unlock new things like Call of Duty does, I just want a number to let us see some sort of progression between matches.

Thank you so much for reading all the way to this sentence and I am open to you guys' opinion on this small suggestion! :)

PS.: Sorry if there are English mistakes, I blame it on the fact that this is my second language. :/

A system that saves stats and displays rank, like the one in BF2 whould be great! Any other kind of levelning systems you see in todays modern games ruins gameplay, like you hinted already.

For me it then comes down to how I’d like the devs to prioritize certain features but I hope to see this being implemented in the future.

Even when they're totally meaningless, I still find myself liking ranking systems. I'd not even mind if later on there were some cosmetics with achievements and leveling.

But yeah, some sort of progression would be nice.

I hope that I never see progression in this game. I see it too often that people wish for the game to be more like other games. One of the reasons that I have come to love squad is that there is no grind, nothing to unlock, it is only about how well your team does. Progression is a gimmick added to many games in order to give the player a reason to keep playing the game. Squad has no reason to have this seeing that most people are here due to the fact that the game is great.

With this, I feel that any added stat feature or ranking system would lead the game in a direction that I do not want to see the game go in. I feel that too many people would focus on trying to level up their character or try to increase their K/D. This would take away, I believe, from people focusing on helping their team and make many focus on helping themselves. This is an extremely team focused game and it should be mostly discouraged to act for yourself rather than the squad.

This is the part that I take the biggest problem with. The way that the OP describes it, it seems to be functioning just as it should in my mind. I've put almost 350 hours into this game and the "progression" that I have noticed has been great. I remember when I started out I only played medic. It took me over 100 hours before I stepped outside of the comfort of the basic classes in order to take a kit that requires more responsibility. Then I started learning to play as the AT rifleman and progressed my abilities with some of the other specialist kits. As time went on I felt myself getting a solid understanding of how the game works and soon I was growing tired of getting squad leads that seemed to have no idea how to play the game. I then started to learn how to squad lead myself. At first I didn't do very well but decided to stick with it and try to learn the role. Now we come to today where I almost exclusively squad lead each match and continue to grow my ability to do so. A level feature is a fake way of inducing this feeling. Over the year or two that I've had this game, I've seen my skills get better and have never gotten the feeling that I need some arbitrary system to show my skill.

i agree with Guubus but a simple leveling system can be done in many ways, there is systems like this in newer BF games and COD ofc.. which i hope to never see in squad. A system similar to BF/COD will have a negative inpact for sure! But i belive a system can be made that fits squad.

For example,
No points toward K/D, or hide it totally, this demotes run and gun gameplay like what we see in other games.

Points to medic if you revive teamates, we need this! im beeing constantly overlooked by friendlies who run over my dead body.

Obviously there is alot more examples to be made but i just want you to get the idea. Also a system like this could help the devs to shape the game into thier vision.

I just want to point out that, no, I don't want rewards or unlockables with this leveling system. Also, I said that the XP could be given by taking a percentage of your score at the end of matches. That's probably the best way to do it because it SHOULD reflect all the sides of the game, from teamwork, to capturing points, killing ennemis, etc.

Another reason I want this feature to be added is that it's extremely easy to put in place in terms of coding.
