FOB in buildings HQ's (HAB)

Recommended Posts

At present you get some really terrible HABS being built in buildings and sometimes just bad luck where you catch something that ruins the spawn. How about if you place a FOB in a building that Building becomes the HAB.  So you take over the building and turn it into a HQ, no need to have a structure within a structure. Maybe the building could get sandbags on windows or alike. So instead of a silly HAB sticking out you have a map structure you have the maps buildings.

of course if it's the size of a TALLI  hanger that could stay the same. Still keep the FOB and HAB but have the for when the FOB isn't built within a building.

Just a Thought

Id just like to see the hab a bit better defined when putting it down so you know where the doors are.

If the building is the hab then I think that might cause problems with capture radius.. i.e if its a hanger and the whole building is the hab then there is no need to go inside the hanger to neutralize it.

like some contrast'y colour for the doorways, in ghost mode when placing, so they stand out better?

Don't forget the curtains. Know the campaign for them drew to a close but maybe we should  shine some light on it too :)

I always thought it would be cool to have in the radial menu a "decoy" HAB you could place down a couple to really confuse your opponent.

build one on Talli the other day, a tank emptied a ton of ammo on it. was 3 hescos with a 3 tall sandbags wall in between to give the look of a hab. Suppose at a distance it could have been mistaken for one. :)

ive carefully flanked and assaulted a HESCO wall before.

Decoys can be really effective.

I agree about spawns in buildings. they can have large and hard to hide items around them to retain the ease of finding them but the surrounding bunker walls should be optional when inside a structure.

the challenge of placing them should not have the impact on gameplay that it currently does. frustration is the enemy of fun.

how about getting rid of habs altogether?  Reverse this campaign against rallies.. make the rallies the main in the battlefield spawn now that they are unlimited and force squads to drive from main ... might slow down that rush and decouple emplacements from radio...  stops people spawning on habs individually..keeps the squad together and vehicles become pretty important not to leave in the field.

OR

single hab only that cannot be removed, team can place it anywhere on the map but it remains for the game and can be invaded and taken over by the enemy... so placement becomes key... would create some interesting fights around it..and of course..some interesting comments from the team on why they think they would be best to place it where they think vs the other guy... but make it a logi squad... so no other guy can place it....

Part of me agree with you Embecmom but think that in a pub game could be limiting. Removing FOBS makes a slower game. Maybe have a different Mode allow the admin to choose if Habs are on or off.

The single HAB bit,  your get trollers planting it close to main then dropping trashing the side, or changing to the opposition. Plus your get lots of arguments on this or that for placement

Project Reality had a game mode called Command and Control where each team places a single FOB (usually had to be within a radius of the center of the map) and must attack the enemy's while defending their own. It didn't have flags and was pretty much never played over AAS though.
