Deployed assets incorrect ammo use

At present when you reload a Static MG or TOW it instantly takes a full amount of ammo from the FOB. eg tow fire one round uses 500 ammo, MG reload uses 50.  shouldn't it be TOW fires 2 rounds from its mag. Then reloads cost 500 for full reload for the 2 rounds , and the MG fires its 3  mags then costs 50 to get back 3 full reloads.  If this is working as expected by bother having a magazines loadout.  Because if your out of ammo on the fob your gun cant fire.

I've noticed this too, it is very disappointing to have ammo visible in the weapon but not be able to use it.

 

I would prefer that either the clips available was removed and only showed the current clip (eg a white-yellow-red bar) reloading could take a fixed amount from the FOB supply, perhaps only using the quantity to fill the clip again.

Or

no ammo was used from the FOB supply until the local clips

worse is sitting there with a TOW and someone drop the ammo below 500 as a target comes into view :(
