Please change the razor wire. It sucks and is utterly useless as it is now. It can't be deployed in certain ways without being far enough away from an existing razor wire placement that it leaves a gap that the enemy can walk through easily. Also, razor wire should take the enemy longer than 3 seconds using 3 shovel digs to remove it. Razor wire should have a 10 second removal animation per section and have to be removed with cutters. The way it exists now, its worthless.

layers of wire works well in many cases so slow enemy down not stop them completely

I'm hoping to be able to place razorwire in a different way eventually, basically dragging it from point to point. And have a specialist class or something to take it out. Like breacher or whatever..

I've been thinking of the shovel as a multitool :P Good luck putting up an MG emplacement with a spade. Do we need a specialist class to carry a Leatherman?

+1 for the leatherman, a realy big one.

Breaching, building and unflipping vehicles.

It would be sick being able to place it on top of walls, fences, sandbags and HESCO especially now with vaulting implemented. Also, grenades shouldn't take out a razor wire, it just doesn't make sense to me how that's possible...

It's fairly useless and often used in the wrong ways. Part of that is that you have to shovel it up 8ft at a time. If you could string out 30ft of it at a shot, you could use it out in the open as a first perimeter to slow the advance of the enemy and force them to deal with it where they have no cover and are easy to shoot. It's impossible to create a perimeter with it now, plus, it's so easily destroyed it's hardly worth the time. So, people put it in doorways and in close quarters where it's an obstacle for friendlies and gets blown up once the GLs start incoming.

+1 for somehow placing longer sections of it. Maybe 1 layer instead of 2 with the option to stack wire like sandbags currently. Dirty's idea of placing it on objects would also greatly improve its tactical usage, where it would be difficult to remove without a boost.

Yeah it should really be segmented-spline deployable imo. Would require a rework of some of the placement/resource logic though probably.

People still use barbed wire? Not on any servers I play on. I rarely see it used and if it is used by noobs then a grenade or two obliterates it.

The overly simplified game mechanics of v11.2 AAS compared to v9 combined with a core community of dedicated players who just keep getting better and better have basically rendered fortifications and barbed wire virtually useless in my opinion.

Because there is typically no possibility of rushing the first neutral flags the drag race Blitzkrieg to the central flag for control barely allows for placing of a Fob & Hab let alone useless barbed wire and sandbags that get unrealistically destroyed anyway. That combined with the fluid and flexible nature of organized groups of folks who know what they're doing and how to win by getting bodies on flags at exactly the right time has rendered this stuff obsolete. Seriously.

The same thing applies to Invasion & Insurgency modes as well. It seems like the more effort that is expended on each flag building these elaborate fortifications the quicker the defenders lose the flag. Plus in Insurgency mode a simple scan with the binos and it's really easy to tell exactly where the cache is with all the stuff sticking out everywhere. Pointless.

Hm yes its useless in most of time but if it done right its pretty handy. But there is space for improvements.

One penalty is that who touch it is slowed down. Thats nice. Second he loos hp.

But it could also

Complately drain stamina So you cant jump or climb after that. Like ... wire and wall or some different obstacle which need climbing(vaulting) should be impossible for that player to do that.

With new suppression system it could theoreticaly give some light suppression so your aim is harder because you are hooked right and wire bited in your hm nuts could be pretty anoying or?

Or lower weapon with every step. So you can stop move forward and shoot but when moving you cant. So people should think twice to step in to it.

They could prefer to

- waste time to dig it out. And make noice etc.

- waste  nade and destroy it. Thats fair. Player is weaker now.

Just ideas.

It should be hard as nails to dig down unless you are breacher class with bolt cutters .. it could have 3 states

Unbuilt

Ruined

Built

When ruined it slows down but no damage .. can be rebuilt without resources.

Grenades and infantry touching  move it to ruined.

I find razor wire is extremely effective for the price it costs. Problem is people are using it wrong. Instead of trying to create an impenetrable fortress, which is what most people tend to try, razor wire should be used to funnel enemies into places where they can be easily picked off. 99% of the time, if people can find another way in they won't bring up the shovel to dig down one or two single segments of razor wire they can easily bypass. Given this fact, the razor wire can be deployed in such ways to make enemies exposed such as making a "tunnel" in front of the entrance so that they cant stay behind the wall to pick you off inside. I also like to put some wire in corners outside which would require them to get away from the wall onto which they are trying to hide. Another good idea is to put some wire in nearby bushes that are likely ambush points. Try it this way!

Given that razor wire takes like 20 seconds to deploy it can't reasonably take forever to bring down either... Only problem with razor wire currently is that there is a too big gap between segments that can possibly be walked through.

It should have a random chance to get stuck in it as well as a deterrent to players just pushing through it knowing they only lose a small portion of health.

Or even start players bleeding out and needing to bandage.

Thats a pretty sugesstion, you can still remove it but not every role has the oppertunity to do so.
