3 Man TOW

Recommended Posts

With the accession of the 3 man TOW team, could we get the TOW to be in a building Tree of HAB>TOW so not just the placement of the TOW from the FOB. Yes I know it sounds like  I'm saying stop the 3 man squad, but no could we get a transport that can deploy a TOW with the same restrictions of FOB placement but without a Logi  resources 2k truck.  Have an MRAP or a like that you can drop the TOW, thus freeing up the logi truck.  People are dropping FOBs and leaving them just with the TOW no way of reinforcing or removing.

It would be nice if all of the deployable weapons were un-tied to FOBs to be honest.

If there were an inventory system for players and vehicles, we could just load the weapon into vehicles that had the appropriate capacity to hold them and take them anywhere. There's no reason why an SPG, or mortar tubes need to have a radio. Especially light CSWs like the .50 or light mortars could even been disassembled and transported on foot, with parts spread between multiple riflemen.

Imagine if you just rapidly deploy a .50 cal without the need for three guys to huddle together to place a radio thats not with 400m of another one, have a big loud truck dump supplies, then have SL and SL only place it. Imagine if you could then move/rotate/cant the thing as the situation calls for it too.

There are so many reasons to decouple the radios/habs and deployables, this is one more of them.

I agree that emplacements and FOBs should be decoupled.

Given most vehicles carry some ammunition now it would cool to see an overhaul of how emplacements work so you can move them in vehicles then use the ammo of those vehicles to load them. This would mean that FOB based emplacements would still be valuable since they take FOB resources which is a much higher capacity than any vehicle but you could also use emplacements more dynamically with vehicles.

This principle could also be applied to ammo boxes and fortifications which I think would be pretty interesting.

Making a change like this would take a fair amount of effort to pull off properly but I think it would make emplacements a far more interesting aspect of the game and would emphasize the ability of irregulars to employ hit and run tactics given they've got lighter vehicles and less resource expensive emplacements.

Right on the money. The only way I can see this happening without wasting too much time would simply be to remove the ticket-cost for losing a Radio altogether.

With the addition of commander and possibly transport helicopters, OWI can implement air-dropped supplies that both commander and heli's can deliver to remote radios.

Again, what I'm suggesting is a quick and dirty implementation.

Know this is something the designers have been thinking about, and may experiment with. They've mentioned examples from the past, like using ammo bags to resupply TOWs, which then required a logistic chain in place to keep them effective. Keep the feedback comin', you've got them puzzling it over. ;)

ONLY when you have to load it into the transport, unload it where you want and drag it to the exact location... none of this just pop it out yer ass anywhere crap... how basic do you guys want this game? do you really want to turn it into a 3d artillery game where every cuck pops up a tow and a handful of proper players cap while 68 players per side sit on hills spamming missiles..... no thank you.

+1 I agree about decoupling

Maybe Ammo points could be converted by SLs or FTLs into emplacements. We could start by adding more ammo for each vehicle.

Then it would be a choice whether to reload the squad, or use it all for an emplacement.

So if there is like 200-300 ammo points available on a mrap, then the squad could take that ammo and turn it into an mg/tow/spg/mortar.

Maybe the SL/FTL could "hold" the ammo on his person, then a radial popup to choose the emplacement?

decouple with an air drop from the commander... so the commander becomes useful..

logi trucks.. habs/radio...big build supplies ...its a FOB...

smaller one with individual dropped in by commander... so you dont get people taking logis all over the place and dropping things here there and everywhere... sort of keeps it a little balanced with an air drop timer... that would be for Russia/US/Brits

militia and insurgents load up any truck with build points from supply back at base and can build anywhere .. makes them a little more free and Guerrilla like.

^ this + there could be limitation per team of TOWs, MGs and so on (like for HAT kits).

+1 for decouple... would be nice to try it out. It would be interesting to decide at main what you want, insert it into truck/jeep/MRAP or dedicate available riflemans from squad to carry (for example MGs/SPGs, mortars and TOWs would need transport all the way). Once on site, you can assemble weapon from vehicle within certain radius (50m). Ammo for assembled weapon would need supplies or ammo bags. Not sure about mortar... maybe its best to tie it with FOBs?

+1 for allowing every vehicles ( depending on the size ) to load an implacement on it when in main , with the ammo for that particular implacement , allow squads that use the vehicles to quickly set up the implacement within a certian readius of the vehicle , and also quickly fold it back in , this would actually make player want to stick to thier vehicles .
