Inaccuracies and mistakes with the new British Units

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have noticed some inaccuracies with the british soldiers equiptment and uniform, these are:

  • Iron Sights on the L85A2(SA80) A British soldier would not deploy to a kinetic scenario with the ironsights, they are using in training and in certain situations on exercises. They would deploy with the SUSAT or the LDS depending on the trade of the soldier. EG. Infanteers would deploy with the LDS while crewmen and supportive units would have the SUSAT. Due to the majority of the roles in a straight up fight British soldiers in the game are at an instant disadvantage.
  • The uniforms are incorrect. Where blanking plates would be that have the soldiers TRF and Briagde flash are empty and the flag is situated on the pen pocket. This is not correct uniform for a british soldier. As attachedftne_2_1903x889.jpg?anchor=center&mode=c
  • The Body armour is not osprey, infact I cannot identifiy the armour at all. All modern british soldiers would deploy with the new Virtus kit.
  • The logistics truck, while the outside is accurate of a MANN SV the cockpit is not, also the centre of the cockpit roof is a hatch it would be interesting to see if players could utilise this.

Thanks for reading, would love to see the british troops be corrected,

Ironsights - Game balance. LDS may make an appearance in the future. Remember there is no specific time frame that the armies in Squad are based on so we have more artistic license.

Blanking plates are empty, yes. Not sure if we are keeping them clear for eventual clan patches etc. I brought this up yesterday actually with the team with possible options.

Virtus came in too late when the Brits we being developed so that's out.

That was something fun with Arma. As long as the process to put an image into the game is a pain in the ass, nobody really bothers to put the time in to have a vulgar picture for a patch.

You say ironsights for balacing, but in my personal opinion its not, the enermy ingame eg. the infantry battle between the UK and US the UK is disadvantaged because they have Aimpoints and such, so a SUSAT woud solve this.

leaving the blanking plates empty is not a big issue its just the large flag on the pen pocket, thats just wrong put it on the plate carrier or something.

Question regarding your profile picture, are you serving or have served RAMC? Im RLC, ex RAMC CMT

It's 100% for balancing. It's a bit much saying we should give the Brits a 4x optic just because the Americans have a 1x optic. As much as I would love to see the Brits all equipped with optics (LDS please!) I can't see it happening any time soon. Having said that, I'm sure changes will be made in the coming patches. Balance is an on-going battle!

The flag on the right sleeve has already been brought up a while ago so I'm sure will be fixed at some point. If it's simply just removed or stays until a clan/custom patch is possibly implemented is yet to be seen.

I served as a CMT/Scab Lifter) :) Filthy civvy  now though...thankfully.

noticed last night that the BRIT marksman has a bipod but the specialist marksman does not. I was without and it made me sad :):(

All players having 4x scopes on only one team is a problem ATM...

Hopefully this is not always the case

to reference Project Reality here... there really doesn't seem to be much of a balance issue there, especially going against conventional forces. And all the forces have ACOG/SUSAT with the real super REMF kits having ironies.

Though this is definitely a hard argument. Squad wants to go for realism but realism can be boring, e.g. opium farmers with old AK's going against a modern army with 4x optics and IFV's. Perhaps give ironsight kits within the section when playing against insurgent forces.. but give the brits their proper equipment against conventional forces?

at least with PR OPFOR units (MEC, China, Russia), they all have proper optics... so perhaps maybe down the line we can get an entire british section with SUSAT/LDS/ACOG...

  • Warrior chain gun fires way too fast
  • Warrior chain gun should have 1-in-1 tracer, not 1-in-4
  • Warrior IFV has no LRF
  • Warrior (and bradley) lack commanders seats
  • Warrior doesn't seem to have a BV so how are they supposed to fight without tea??

hey man, totally agree with you on this, i agree with the dev moved back in v11 test when they allow brit to have unlimited rifleman with l85 + SUSAT. Honestly saying, i would rather have Brit come with optic and non foregrip bipod rather than an ironsight with foregrip bipod.  It kind of funny to see an item used to help increase long-range shot accuracy being equipped for a short-range platform...
