Why are role selection made as it is?

Myself and a small minority feel there shouldn't be any role restrictions based on the fact that organized groups of players have already figured out how to cheese the system by repeatedly joining and quitting squads in the lobby to create more smaller lethal squads.

So you want the whole thing scrapped because of a bug in a test build? Yeah that sounds reasonable.

I want this restrictions in the game.

The devs better find a way to protect they system from cheesing than kick out the restrictions out of the game.

For the meanwhile, until they've found a way to fix it, they should disable it to make it fair...

How sounds that to you?

Actually, your sarcastic response does nothing but further coalesce and validate my point that the most experienced players in Squad have essentially figured out how to bypass the role system to gain an advantage.

Logically, in my mind this leaves two choices to make the game fair and balanced again. Either fine tune the existing role system in some fashion or remove all the role restrictions so that independent public players are on equal footing with organized groups of players using Discord and TeamSpeak.

Certainly you'd agree with me that all matches whether they be public or private should be conducted with fairness and balance as priorities?

Balancing based on an unintended exploit? That is absolutely ludicrous. At this point I'm somewhat convinced that you're actually joking.

I'm in favor of options, I'd like admins to have a few. Pistols only, sniper servers, rocket wars, good stuff like that. I'm not in favor of zero role limits per team in Vanilla squad, although I'd support zero limits per squad while maintaining teamwide limits. All LATs in one squad? Cool, have at it, although that would be dumb. Marksmen/spotter squads, awesome. I just don't want everyone running around with whatever the uber loadout is at the time.

That was the goal of my ISKLR suggestion, creating a tool that could serve as an admin tool, a map layer/game mode tool, and a squad organization tool.

No kit limitations will only work in Clanbattles, but in public gameplay.. no way. there are not enough matured ppl around, to throw the ristrictions completely away.

A CoreInventorySystem would be great and gives more freedom on how to equip yourself or youre Squad.

but in my mind, there is a need of some Team and Squad Limitation, at least in public playing.

I'd you had a core  inventory system per squad / per team restrictions similar to kit roles restrictions is the only other way which will never happen

Of course. This is a game for adults right? Shouldn't squad leaders be allowed to pick their squads load out? Shouldn't the squad leader exert ultimate hegemony over his/her squad as stated in the OWI server guidelines?

You mean 30 AT soldiers running around blasting every vehicle and/or building they see with explosives? Or 30v30 sniper gameplay? This isn't Sniper Elite!

Makes for some great gameplay. /sarcasm

A science fiction fantasyland? Well, I better pick up my ray gun from the ammo crate.

There is a worst case scenario that breaks the game with unlimited kits: your ideas are for the wrong game audience.

Having an all out sniper war on a small infantry map is not a main feature of Squad. I'm sure that the players in those "similar games" will enjoy it immensely though.

FYI: Obvious restrictions in game design is the worst thing that can be possible made. It motivates the players to "break" the restrictions and gain advantage. Restrictions should be done in such subtle way the players do not see it as restrictions in the first place.

At the moment I would also say the Kit restrictions is a bit to hard. Even under the Idea to portrait an accurate image (As possible ^_^ ) of the real conflicts and scenarios, those restrictions doesnt makes sense. USA, Germany or RU, in every military they equip their squads and troups in the context of what they maybe need and what not. Also the deployed soldiers where chossen by If they are avaible and if they fit the role they would manly needed in what ever the whole military wants to do there or not.

At the moment, it seems like that more and more the whole idea of marksman and sniper and accurate fire support because mroe and more important. And it becomes also more and more normal to equipt the soldiers with not just one optic, but with two different for different ranges. That is whats now normal in regular forces, like also modern SVD have not just the PSO-1....

Even we want to keep up the realisim, there should be much more options in the menu and less hard limits.

delighted they stopped people keeping kits... I agree actually that the SL should get to choose his squad layout..but it should be restricted we can be all the adults we want but 9 RPGs would just make the use of vehicles completely useless you would have them camping outside main picking them off all game... and we do want it to be fun... scout is bad enough when couple of them work together...  and I think either go two ways with the medic kit... either forget it altogether as no one really cares .. or only allow other kits to open up once the medic kit is taken..and if someone drops its the other kits that are support etc that are not taken cease to be available...
