UE4 crashed

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I was just playing some squad like always. But just a few minutes ago, it crashed on me. This my first real crash (not including beta testing) in a 1K hour count. I know my system is not the best for gaming (I already planned on buying a new setup tomorrow before this happend) but this is still unusual for me. So I was just thinking to post here it and maybe get some info on this crash. Or even help development by providing the crash information. And if you guys can help me find out what this crash is about, I'd appreciate that.

System

Intel® Core™ i7 4720HQ Processor
Windows 10 Home
Intel® HM86 Express Chipset
DDR3L 1600 MHz SDRAM, 8GB

NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 950M

Later!

can you reproduce this crash?

During the latest engine update some old files which stayed on the system may cause some issues.
If you want to be on the safe side, do a clean install of Squad:

  1. uninstall Squad via steam
  2. manually delete %localappdata%\Squad
    https://offworldindustries.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002768887-How-to-manually-clear-your-user-settings-cache
  3. manually delete remaining folders in Squad installation directory
    default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Squad
  4. install Squad via Steam

please report back if it worked. thx

Hi @beginna

I have not played much squad yet since this happened. But it happend when I was downed by the enemy, opened my map/spawn screen by pressing enter and then closing it again by pressing enter once more. So it's a very common situation. I was not doing anything special or specific to cause this.

I'll see if this crash keeps bothering me, if so I'll update the topic and try the above mentioned fix. Thank you.

Greetings!
