Alpha 9.8 Release

Hi Squaddies,


How about a little patch for the weekend? Alpha 9.8 has been released! While it's not a big one, we're laying the groundwork for more good things to come. Here are the changes comin' atcha:

  • Updated to UE 4.16
  • Replaced Strykers with MAT-V CROWS on Sumari AAS v2 & v3, added one M939 transport truck to each layer
  • Added one BTR-80 to Militia on Goro AAS v2 and fixed the flag bleed
  • Moved temporary INS spawn point on Al Basrah slightly to prevent overlap with Mosque flag
  • Fixed flag ticket gain/loss bug on Goro AAS v1
  • Added mercy bleed to Kokan AAS v1 & v2 and Yeho AAS v1 & v2
  • Fixed flag bleed rate on Chora AAS v1
  • Fixed flag bleed on Refinery on Al Basrah AAS v1
  • Fixed flag bleed on Echo flag on Narva AAS v1
  • Tweaked LODs on several trees
  • Improved animation lodding settings
  • Fixed vehicles catching fire too quickly when flipped
  • Fixed vehicles burning for a very long time after being flipped
  • Changed restitution values on vehicle bodies
  • Fixed weapon skins not working
  • Fixed players glitching through landscape
  • Fixed most cases of revives in mid-air or below ground

You activated the gun deployment hype train a little too early IMO. 

Made it sound like it was imminent.

 

Still nice patch though.

Is there going to be a hotfix for the FPS issues?  My FPS has dropped in half...  I verified the game files and still the same thing.  Reinstalling now to see if that fixes it but if not then the game is now unplayable for me.

My guess is LOD = Level of Detail

Might be large due to addition of volumetric fog in UE4 4.16.

Good to see any update..but come on DEVs...new animation sys..free look etc...

It is an Alpha state...just update and let be tested.

make sure you clear your user cache after every patch just in case,

It is an Alpha state...just update and let be tested.

The last time that happened (V7) I had about 2000 support emails from people saying they couldn't play the game, so I'm good :P

4 gigs for a small update? I saw the update in steam and thought holy crap it's time! But I am really disappointed. Is the update so big because of the UE update?

Look in the patch notes. The entire engine was updated. Of course it's going to be a larger patch.

The steam folder for squad is 23 GB, and the update is 4 gb, so 27GB total... why do I need enough disk space to reinstall the entire game plus the patch at once?

fps here also way more unstable with 9.8, lots of stuttering when it drops.

Cleared ingame cache, tomorow gonna verify steam cache files too se if it fixes it.

 

But on maps i was getting a pretty stable 60fps full server now fluctuates between 43-60, something is broken.

 

also reporting that in al barash people are still following trough the map.

yes,i lost fps and fps stability with this update, but when i turned off my CPU OC, it was much more stable, and i gained a few frames..

try that.

My guess, most likely because the developers are using pak containers.

One big step closer to V10! I'm also glad that this was the final engine upgrade (probably).

If so wondered if we could get a sneak peak! this could also be used for bullet impacts on different body parts, making you flinch and stumble depending where you get shot? ;)

Its a pretty nice to have feature, if we get this someday :3
