Oooh, man, these threads are always the prettiest. Loving the update!

It's a mix of both actually :D I'm still on the fence as to whether to release it right when the workshop drops or if I should wait till tanks (at the very least) are in.

In other news, the 4.16 SDK is here! And it comes with improvements to yamalo!

There's actually a lot of stuff I'll be adding from 4.16 but this is just the initial stuff.

Out of curiosity (and maybe off topic), what's drawing you to 4.16? Apart from the fact that we updated it. =P I know some of what the team was excited about in the update, but I'd love to hear what the mod/mapping community is digging on too.

looks beautiful! Great work, man!

will flashlight be a thing for squad? Can't remember if someone tried to do that... That would be definitely cool for maps like this.

PS After that last video, i saw mestia map... damn, that looks cool :)

Personally I'm excited to play around with distance fields again, as they got a solid performance boost from the update. As well as the volumetric fog, which was the most visible change I think (though yamalo won't be using it, it's just not noticable)

They also made the merge actor tool much nicer, which will help a lot with some of my projects.

Besides that, there were some features that were already there but got prettied up and made more usable thanks to bugfixes, which I'd like to poke around with. And there were also a lot of general bugfixes which should hopefully make some of my old projects more feasible.

Flashlights are pretty easy to add actually, not bad at all

I've definitely considered it, but because of how stretched out the locations on the map are it would be a bit difficult to accomplish. We'll see :D

Just release the map. People can enjoy it with APCs at first and then get psyched when the tanks roll out. Trust me, it's the right thing to do ;)

Vehicle warfare on Yamalo for initial release! Or at least smaller version with flags being closer to each other (like first version of Gorodok).

I can see this being a great map for vehicular warfare.  In PR, Infantry was pretty fun on it as well, being able to hide in the trenches and bunkers.

Although there was a lot more detail in some of the areas with those towers.

@Axton Do you plan on adding more sort of foliage, debris/downed vehicles(assuming OWI models them in), rocks, different kinds of bunkers and such to allow a little bit better Infantry coverage?

Thanks.

What happened to this map?

Axton became a developer and so further development has most likely moved to the private dev forums. We do the same in pr

So, what actually happened to this map? @Axton

What is the plan with it? Will it be official eventually or will you just finish it whenever you've got the time for the workshop?

Word from the man himself is: It really needs helis and tanks, especially at 8 km, before it's not the most boring map ever.

Yeah, i suppose so, at least tanks that is. Could a smaller ground version work without helicopters? Making the playable area 2x2-4x4km untill helicopters are released?
