New armament, equipment and factions

Hello

 

After a some time playing, I think that we would like to use new:
-Armament, like M16A3, M27, HK416, AN-94, M240, Pecheneg, etc.
-Equipment, such as holographic sights, red dots for russian army, etc.
-Factions, like German, British, French, Spanish, etc.

Regarding it being already been mentioned, i read these forums and still found this topic interesting and important. Makes a lot of sense to me.

no one uses the M16A3, AN-94 or the HK416 (except for the norweigans.) the game isnt battlefield

The HK416F will be replacing the French FAMAS as standard service rifle. They purchased 100,000+ and will be distributed to the french regular forces current year(2017) as well as up to 10 years until contract terms are met.

But I do agree that a lot of modifications and varied non service issued weapons should not be in the base game. Good thing mods(as in game mods) will be a thing and people can go nuts.

Since the Americans are using the not-used-anymore Humvee ingame, I'm sure the French could still have the still in use Famas. Make them more distinct from the American faction, you know?

Of course more variety is good. But you know how picky people are with authenticity of factions :P

If somehow a French faction does happen, and people complain the famas is being used, the argument would be that the HK416 won't be fully distributed amongst the whole French army until the next 1 - 10 years, depending how long it takes HK to fill the order. So technically the use of the Famas would be valid :D

Squad is not Bf, fortunately!
The weapons that I have mentioned are only examples.
But if these machines are considerated "Bf's guns", we can mention others that they are in regular arsenals of German or Spanish armies, like for example G36 or MG4.

At the end, I'm only saying that we would like to play with more weapons and different equipment.

less guns more maps please. Set those modelling folk onto buildings and props.

Anything else is just fluff and this game is nice and cuddly already :)

That's not at all how it works. There are character artists, environmental artists and hardsurface (vehicles and/or guns) artists just to name a few who specialise in one  field. While a character/hardsurface artist can make environmental props they're not going to anywhere near as skilled as a dedicated environmental artist so their time is better spent on what they're skilled at.

@StomAre you suggesting the OWI 3D artists can't adapt or have limited skill sets? 

I love the current variety of weapons and can see benefits in a few other options but I would never see a benefit in a big selection.

 

I am suggesting that OWI should use their resources not provide fluff but to provide variety though gaming spaces which are different. ie more maps.

I can run across a new map with the same gun as I have used every day for a year and not care, the gun balance only needs to be Rock Paper Scissors for me. New content should 

I cannot run across the same space over and over again just because my gun has sparkles or shoots 3.46 rounds per second faster and has a minor difference in handling to the garden rake which I used yesterday. Boredom is a game killer.

 

Here are some statements for people to quote:

Gameplay has little benefit from fluff such as extensive weapon variety, there is a threshold which has already been reached where the benefit of more falls off very quickly.

Fun (gameplay) has lots of benefit from new and varied environments and layouts.

Props and scenery are also fluff but they enable new environments and effect gameplay by providing variety and surprise.

Limited resources. More map variety>More guns.

But new guns are required for new factions and those add a lot of variety.

 

I'm not saying a weapon artist can't make environmental props, but they're far more skilled at making weapons and should do so. If you think about the British faction coming there's a lot of weapons to be made for them. Also, there's weapons to be made for the future as well, like a PKM or MAG58, that currently don't fit into the game because the systems that support them aren't yet in place.

 

I do agree that making alternative assault rifles at this point is a waste of time but setting weapons artists to making environmental assets would be a waste of money on OWI's part since there are so many weapons to be made for the expansion of current factions and introduction of new factions.

British are currently being worked on.

 

The game is set in the near past and present. We try not to focus too much on future acquisitions, prototyping, and field testing evaluations (such as the Stryker 30mm variant). We attempt to keep modern armies authentic to their "regular" infantry units.

Are you suggesting they don't?

Allocate resources where they're going to be used most efficiently, i.e. weapon modelers model weapons and map designers design maps
