Question about muzzle flash

Recommended Posts

I was watching a real life vid of a btr 30mm cannon being fired. It had huge muzzle flash but from a different angle it wasn't visible at all, there was only smoke. It it something with the filming or is the visibility of muzzle flash sporadic even in real life?

Could be the frames on the camera, powder burning a little differently? Should be seeing a flash most of the time.

Muzzle flashes happen incredibly fast, sometimes it's just hard to see them.  Especially in the day time.  When you have something firing full auto it's much easier to spot the flash since it's sustained fire.  It would be much easier to see the flash from the side of the weapon as opposed to behind it as well.  The flash could be multiple feet long so it would be easier to spot from the side.
