  1. 1. HAB can help disguise the position of a fob with the HAB being 100m away from the FOB but people are putting the HAB next to it which doesn't help (imho).  But this brings a new argument. HAB next to FOB or not. How you roll.

    • As far away as I can make it. (@100m)

HAB should be placed in a way that can potentially provide an immediate suppression on the radio location, therefore the best option for me is to place the radio on either wide open areas (you can put an HMG to overlook the radio) with barbed wire from the possible direction of the enemy advance, making them dig it while being in the line of fire, OR in the grenade traps (for example, the central trough at the Hilltop).

I dont think the hab works well if placed next to the radio .. dont see the point of that.. you end up with the hab spawn being camped whilst the radio gets dug up... having the hab overlooking it from a distance is a good idea .. I just dont see why you would to put two important assets so close to one another.. you end up losing both..  personally would enforce the radio  and put the hab in a location where it can be covered by those on the radio.. not the other way about..

Next time i place a fob which will be obvious i want to try a radio up on a building in a really stupid place which is hard to remove without being shot at.

I like that the radio can still be hard to find once a hab is taken down, i'd like the radio sound radius to be dropped a bit too so you need to look in each room for it rather than just walk near a bunch of buildings.

FOB and HAB position will depend on each flag IMO. HAB doesnt have that radio sound so sometimes hiding it into structures can make them hard to find.

But FFS, dont place the ammo crate next to the HAB if it is away from an objetive, that is useless as people who spawn there wont need ammo, place it as close to action as possible!!!!

I'll be interested to see how strategies play out with the HAB/radio since AFAICT, you still need only 2 people to kill a spawnpoint. Playing around in Jensen's, this is what I figured out so far.

Drop a radio, get your points and you can drop a HAB anywhere within the build radius. Shovel the HAB up and it's good to go.

Shovel the HAB halfway down, or completely obviously, and it's unspawnable. Shovel it back up to reenable it. If the radio is still up, you can drop another HAB to replace the one lost.

Shovel down the radio and the HAB also vanishes. I'm assuming that with 2 enemy players on the radio, the HAB is no longer spawnable, just like it was before with the FOB. I can't be sure of that, but that's how it's appeared to work in game.

So, what's the ideal placement? IMO, if in the open, the HAB needs to be near enough to the radio to keep tabs on it. Within line of sight, or just over a crest of a hill in the direction of the objective, so you always have friendly players moving near it.

If you're in a compound, stick the radio in a small room with only one entrance so you can nade it if it's under attack, or upstairs and blockade it in. The HAB still needs to be close enough that you can respond to radio threats.

I haven't seen many radios inside HABs, so I can't comment on how defendable they are, it seems it would be just like before.

I haven't formed a clear opinion on the new HAB system yet, I like that they are bigger and harder to hide. But we're still stuffing radios in bushes and corners. I see defenses going up around HABs to protect players leaving it and radios sitting off alone somewhere. Radios still seem to encourage gamey behavior and I'm not sure they make spawnpoints more defendable.

Radio placement in relation to HAB placement entirely depends on the situation.  There are times you need to place the FOB near the HAB and times you don't.  The most common mistake I see is that the FOB is placed in the obvious path of incoming assaults.  When placing the FOB outside of the HAB area - don't place it on a game trail.

Also, when placing the FOB - don't place it where enemies can easily swarm near it - that is worse than forcing them to have to dig it up.  Nothing is more irritating than watching a FOB go down because of a proximity assault on it - make the enemy have to dig it up.

When placing the HAB, try to place it in such a way that there are no clear line of sights into the openings - and make sure YOU have a path to the FOB so you can defend it if need be.

In the end, I think it's best to place it away from the HAB most of the time.

Layered HABs + a behind FOB rally.
Anyway, a HAB on FOB can work, too, if you make the HAB harder to find than the FOB.
