Can I run this?

Recommended Posts

It's tough to say as "playable" has a different meaning for different people. You can always buy the game on Steam and play for less than two hours. If you're not happy with the performance, you can get a full refund according to Steam's refund policy.

The purchase has to have been made within the last 14 days at the time of the refund request just so you know.

In that case, you might want to wait until after the V8 update (November) before upgrading your PC. V8 is an optimization pass and should hopefully help AMD CPU users get more frames.

Otherwise, we're all currently limited by our single core performance of our CPUs. AMD's Zen line of processors are said to be released in Q4 2016 and promise a 40% improvement in IPC (instructions per cycle). They'll be on the new AM4 socket I believe however.

If you can't wait and are upgrading specifically for a better Squad experience, then you'll want an Intel processor. They've had better IPC for years and can play Squad decently in its current state.

When shopping, compare the single thread performance figures. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-3570K-vs-AMD-FX-8350
