Were not just players...

Recommended Posts

Something id like everyone to consider is that pledging via Kickstarter should come with more commitment than simply being a run of the mill consumer.

You pledged to gain access to a game thats in development. And while the devs have already done a considerable amount given the time theyve had since going public with Squad's existence, they are still human. I really highly doubt that what im about to say will occur -- because ive seen a great community here so far, but ill say my piece -- I dont want to see the community here turn toxic due to unrealistic expectations of a small indie dev team.

Squad has the opportunity to be some of the best team-oriented tactical gameplay to hit the market in years.

The devs can use our feedback to help improve and fix whatever needs to be worked on during this process. Its not going to be short and its not going to be easy.

But the better feedback we give them -- detailed, well written and constructive -- the better they can work on this project we're all excited about.

So please, if theres anything you can do to help this community, consider spending time during your upcoming playtime to log the details of whatever issue or bug or glitch you may find and report it in the appropriate way.

You may not be great at designing UI, or you may feel daunted by the detail and complexity of 3D modelling software or even Unreal Engine 4's mapping tools. But each and every person in any given community has strengths and weaknesses they bring to the table. There are tons of ways to contribute to the game and to the community. And everyone here whos planning on playing the game before final release will also, technically, be someone who can be a tester. So do that. If nothing else, dont just play the game -- provide detailed and constructive feedback.

And, in case any of you wish to have your feedback proofread before you submit it to the devs for review, id be more than happy to help. I enjoy writing and I enjoy helping people improve theirs. Ill be here as well, playing and submitting feedback. I want this game to succeed. I hope you all do too, and are willing to go some extra distances to help it. So please, be patient, be helpful and be understanding. And have faith in the guys that spent so many years on a mod for no financial gain to themselves.

Thanks,

M81

P.S./edit: Congratulations on the Kickstarter. Im very excited for Squad and its future.

Actually that's what we need on this forum, a "Hooah" button, like the "Like" button on FB.  :D

No but really, couldn't agree more with you M81.

I'm actually pretty new to the forum and just bought a commander pack yesterday (Hell yea, just before the end of Kickstarter), but really looking forward in helping this game and community growing!

Since my times in America's Army 2.x.x, i've never found anything like it anymore, not even there new to be released game.

So i'm really looking forward to Squad, because it certainly looks to be THE game!

AA2 was a great game, to bad they destroyed the game and its reputation with AAv2.7, AA3 and AAPG... :)

Absolutely, I really hope that we will get a smaller player count mode based on a infantry-only mode without respawns and revives in Squad. I already started a thread about server-sided options to achieve this. I will bring it up again during the next weeks.

I kinda miss AA2 sometimes,  then I remember how CQB fights always ended with strafing and how people used to spawn and instantly m203 the other side of the map, and I kinda don't miss it lol.

Having to do SERE training to use the SF kits. Kids today, luxury.

Indeed it is our task now to improve anything that needs improvement, and report as many bugs and glitches as possible!

And ofcourse let's not forget we can also enjoy it a bit right?

I agree, our task as pre alpha/ alpha players is to find ,report bugs and propose a solution?

I Think that we can really focus on gameplay when it hits steam EA but not before :)

A "like" is available in this forum software but it is not turned on for some reason.  I like it and have always used it on my various sites.

@M81ERDL

Great post and it was something that needed to be stated!!

You are completely right.

You fine gentlemen won't "just" be players.

We have many tweaks to do as we can all agree on. We have many things we want to do to slow down the game, reward certain behavior, punish other, many assets we want to balance, and watch behavior.

Most of the tweaks we will be doing in the future will be based on what we see happen from our player base. That means you guys in the beginning.

You will also be setting the tone and molding the culture for when the later groups start trickling in to the server populations.

Gentlemen, remember! With great power comes great responsibility.

And one final word of advice: Have some fun out there!

I've dabbled a bit with UE4's level editor and i'm going to give it a better look when I can use all of Squad's stuff in it. Toying with the idea of a WW1-ish Trench map.

Hey there Z-trooper, i respectfullly say you are wrong on this point sir...it won't be a trickle...it's going to be a tsunami!

Myself and many others here have been diligently spreading the good word about SQUAD. I have managed to get some of my friends to sign up, but, there is a whole lot of players i know who have told me they won't have anything to do with SQUAD until it gets out and they see numbers in servers. Once this game gets released i will bump this thread and say niiir! i told you so! :P

So do your all those push ups and sit ups and get prepared...it's gonna be on! B)

Keep your clothes on Rulie, lol!

Hopefully the Devs have made specific rules about playing SQUAD butt naked on-line in the EULA...right under the charcoal rule.

"Hidden Appendix 1.3. Sub-section 2c. All registered members of SQUAD must have a bag of charcoal in the gaming room."

I can be a dev slave...

On US Army side.. I come free with a good coms... good view of Milisim... and a fast trigger finger... On US Army side.. I can smell goat scents from 20 miles away. Camels from 30 miles away. I like blowing Sh*t up.

On Terry Taliban Side... I like blowing sh*t up and paying for the Goats at the Corner.... Um... Allah blessed me with something special... my milkshakes brings all da goats to the yard...

Well I have no clue why I am writing this. Probably because It'll be hard to "Pre_Alpha Test" without any informative Instruction of some sort...

Allau Allkbar and Hooah to all

Good Night

Good post, with all the EA games released and pretty poor feedback to the devs I think its important that we play our part and help this awesome game become even better!

Very good most M81, very well written and I liked how it was to the point, I will most likely be sending you some things to proof for me ;)

Have a great day everyone! :D

I am more than willing to contribute to this and as a commander tier backer, I didn't just pay $100 for no reason. This is no gamble, and I am more than proud based on what I've seen from the interactions to your supporters and the effort put into the development of the game so far.

My notepad/google doc will be prepared for Closed Pre-Alpha.

As soon as I have my hands on the game I will test out doing cinematic videos.

(reporting bugs that actually impede gameplay will also be helpful)
