Actually you're supposed to optimize AFTER you put all the content in...

There's not even any point in explaining this to these kids anymore. WAH WAH yes keep crying I love the taste of your salty tears....

After you've properly tested in house.  The problem is less that the issues exist and more that they released it with this many issues and bad of issues. There is no way the devs had no idea there were crash issues unless they simply didn't do proper testing.

Optimization is one thing, reliable playability is another. There is no excuse to drop a near-unusable product.

via Steam itself,

Is this the same as pre-purchasing a game?

No. Early Access is a full purchase of a playable game. By purchasing, you gain immediate access to download and play the game in its current form and as it evolves. You keep access to the game, even if the game later moves from Early Access into fully released.

"Playable" is wide terminology. It is playable but not stable and you know it's a temporary state. No need to copy paste Steam's FAQ about what is EA game since we already know all the ins and outs of it. This is the reason we bought the game in that EARLY stage. We knew all the "risks" involved into it, we did a research and we wanted to support the devs who develop the game we love and always wanted even if we won't be able to play the game from time to time or suffer from game breaking bugs. What about you ? did you done a research about what is a EA/ALPHA game before buying ? I'm asking because you seems surprised about something that is normal in the current stage.

Early Access Game

Get instant access and start playing; get involved with this game as it develops.

Note: This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development

Indeed brother!. The only problemo is this, they just don't get it what Alpha is all about or most likely just don't want to.

And it is disgusting those few are allowed to spread their spew by constantly posting that Squad is "S**t & Do not buy this game" >:(

The fanboys making up every excuse possible to cover for the devs failing to do proper testing is quite frankly why proper testing doesn't seemingly occur. Why would they bother releasing a good and working product if you have an army of zombies to shield you from the truth? It's pathetic. All these "oh it's pre alpha what do you expect"  and "it's just a crash here and there (often 2+ times per map)" fools are the reason games never leave pre alpha stages. No pressure from consumers, no reason to improve.

Squad has a lot of potential but seems to be squandering it.

Oh boy! Not worth beating a dead horse @boost2464 & you're correct sir...We're the testers .

But anyhow for those who don't take note on what our DEV's are planning ahead, ere is some info for ya. :P

BF-Games: With the release of alpha version 7 last week you just brought the first vehicles into the game. What's in the next update for us?

Kory: The next major update from what I've heard is more a quality of life. We're going to try to improve performance optimisation and also tweaking perhaps the GUI and other things to try to make it easier for the user. So the kind of things that have been left by the side while we were working on the vehicles.

mazadu expecting rock hard stability on a game which only has ?30%? of the overall planned features implemented with a codebase changing daily is exactly why you are a mutant and just don't get it.  you should have waited for retail.

The game runs great for me and pretty much always has, The testing of V7 before release with max players was smooth as.  But 2 days later on release it went pear shaped for whatever reason!? That is part and parcel of the cycle on this ride we are on.

If some of the people here spent less time whineing about what they are entitled to or expect and look for solutions (I.e. The fix for most common FE's) which is on Discord and on here probably... they may be a little happier with their lives.

if you bought into early access YOU are a tester, as a tester YOU should give constructive feedback which is makes the path toward the full release easier. So, get to work...

Check out Project Rreality to see where Squad came from and where is heading. That was non funded mod so no customers there and see what they did... To be fair not all devs are from PR nor did they all been there since day one... But after you grasp PR, you will understand why we have so much faith in this development team.

Define "proper testing". Are you a professional game tester? Do you work in the industry? Did you overlook the fact that -WE- are all testing the game on behalf of the devs?

What's pathetic is when someone thinks they know what's best so they attempt to berate others with comments that they assume are bright or witty. You don't like that there is a strong sense of support from this game's community? Are you an idiot? What kind of person looks down upon others who maintain positive attitudes? The lonely, that's who.

Yes, these are the normal responses you're going to get form people. Specifically people who don't want to waste their time talking to a negative-nancy. Usually, when someone starts complaining about a game in Alpha, their mind is made up and they just want to complain for the sake of complaining. So when someone says "it's Alpha", they are probably tired of people crying and aren't in the mood to discuss details with internet sludge.

You catch more flies with honey. There are many of us who are consistently supporting the devs with bug reports regularly, some even daily. If half of the complainers would contribute in this way the game might be a little further along. Also, when you wait to get consumer feedback until AFTER a game's full release, you get games like No Man's Sky. Which was released without half of the promised content. At least in Squad, we KNOW WHAT WE'RE GETTING and we have the chance RIGHT NOW to help craft the game .

We are now pushing a version 7.3 hotfix release, which contains:

  • Disabled async loading as an attempted fix for loading related crashes, and possibly a number of other crashes & bugs.
  • Added an attempted fix for a crash caused by a specific effect emmiter.
  • Added fixes for materials and material settings on a number of maps to prevent a specific type of crash. [This means a very large download for this patch]
  • Removed an unused analytics plugin as a fix for round start stuttering.
  • Updated the Easy Anticheat SDK.
  • Updated turret bounds to avoid them popping out.
  • Fixed some ambient sounds on Sumari and Kohat.
  • Removed a number of unused materials.
  • Fixed errors with two fence materials.
  • Fixed an improper texture size which was causing a small loading delay.
  • Increased the max data cache size as an improvement for both Squad and Mod developers.
  • Cleaned up unusued references to trace channels without actual properties which were causing log spam.
  • Cleaned up some orphaned break points in Blueprints as a reduction of log spam.
