The Dedicated Airsoft Thread

Recommended Posts

So I see airsoft stuff scattered everywhere on these forums, so I figured, let's make a thread specifically for airsoft and airsoft discussion.

Before someone bashes me/this thread/someone in this thread, so let's keep it civil:

-No. I don't believe anyone who plays airsoft is a true soldier unless they are actually military.

-Paintball vs airsoft is preference, not which one hurts more.

-It's not comparable to real war experience.

That aside...

If you play, what gear do you guys run?

Do you have a youtube channel (for airsoft)?

I have a youtube channel, and I'll post my first video here (Like and sub! Not trying to advertise, but really would like for this channel to take off.):

My gear setup/rig:

Fast PJ Helmet Replica (Tan)

GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition with an NVG mount

Kryptek Mandrake BDU

Condor Exo-Plate Carrier with a dump pouch, recon backpack, and 4 5.56/AR-15 Mag Pouches, 2 pistol mag pouches

Midland X-Talkter XT-T71 Radios (with a pouch, of course)

Oakley ESS Tactical Goggles

Just a green shemagh

Oakley Pilot Gloves

Oakley SI Assault Boots

Redline Regulator/Airline

Guerilla Air 62/3000

Now onto the gun:

Custom built:

Polarstar FE V2G3

G&P Externals

Daniel Defense 9" Rails

BSA 30mm Red Dot (soon to be replaced with an AIM ACOG)

Some green flashlight

I have put airsoft aside for a bit now, but the weather's been getting better lately and we're having more neighborhood tournaments now, which is pretty cool.

I don't really have gear, just a mish-mash flip-flop mix-match of stuff.

I don't even have a plate carrier lol. I am the lone-wolf recon dude. As you may have figured out, I am not a hardcore airsofter, but I am thinking about getting into it more.

Rifle: HFC VSR-11 Spring Sniper with a random Qinuke (idek who they are) 3-9x 40mm scope. Pretty nice, even with the clones an' all that. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.B|

Sidearm: Elite Force M1911 (not the Tac version btw. I can't stand two-tone).

Some random thin gloves with the fingers cut off.

I use a GoPro Hero4, but I don't record often.

Nice. You definitely don't need to go out and buy a $100+ plate carrier for recon/sniper roles. A chest rig would be more than enough for your needs (unless you plan on getting a new kit one day). I've been playing for several years now, so if you have any questions, just ask and I'd more than happy to help. (I can help with basically anything, internal stuff, or just basic direction of what you should get in terms of gear)

Those vests are useless (and hideous LOL). You are going to want something with MOLLE and tailor it to your own loadout and needs. Try this setup I made based on the color scheme and guns you have ;)

Some pistol mag pouches should work for the VSR-11 style bar mags (and your pistol of course!):

or

A dump pouch is 100% necessary for any setup:

Eventually a sling:

Would love to get into this kind of thing as opposed to paintball but Australia has no legal status as a sport in Australia due to 2 main reasons.

http://www.airsoftaustralia.com.au/what-is-airsoft.html

1/ The firearms resemble replica weapons.

2/ There is no range available that has been granted genuine reason for the use of Airsoft firearms.

Both forms of the sport have yet to pass legislation and the Milsim variety has a much slimmer and tougher chance of passing.

Now to understand why its such an issue you just have to look at paintball marker ownership in Australia.

The marker or "gun" as I shall call it is categorized as a "firearm" in Australia. Therefore it require a person to obtain a Cat A firearms license in their home State plus a PTA (Permit To Acquire) or their States equivalent.

For example I come from South Australia so I have to:

https://www.police.sa.gov.au/services-and-events/firearms-and-weapons/apply-for-a-firearms-licence (fair investment of $$ even before buying the gun)

So you can see how hard its going to be to get Airsoft accepted.

**This is post is no reason to start a flame war on gun control laws please**

Just stumbled upon this tread. Nice stuff going on here. Hot stuff @Voice.

I am a member of a milsim/impression team called hermes medical team. We replicate PJ's, and are a part of task force exorbitance. In the TF there is a comms element (cct), eod element, recon element, and attack element (cag/delta).

Check out our facebook page for hot pictures.

Are those real EOtech optics on those guns?

Why do people wear a ton of gear (plate carriers, jackets, etc)? How do they feel the BB when it hits them?

Do most people use gas or electric guns?

This hobby just came to my attention, it looks pretty fun.
