Scope Implementation Discussion

If it's easier on performance, I personally wouldn't care if all of the scopes (anything magnified) and sights (un-magnified) were the "traditional" style. AS LONG AS the screen around any of the scopes is blurred, so as to remove any distinct advantage that scoped weapons would give in larger maps, as people "scope in" and use the area around the sight picture to scan for targets.

I don't mind the Scope zoomwing the whole screen, if the actual Scope object is 3d and the recticle / indicators behaves correctly, for me is enough.

Just implement Lens Distortion and Telephoto Compression and were good to go.
