MT-LB/BTR 3D model feedback.

Recommended Posts

As per Bruno-G's suggestion, here is a separate thread on MT-LB 6MB model. Much of what is missing on the 6MB is correct for the regular MT-LB as well.

Abstract

My premise for spotting model differences to IRL counterpart was largely based on consistency with the level of detailing Devs chose for the models. For instance, detailing as low as mudguard hinges is present on the 3D model. As such I am not counting amount of track links or sprocket bolts, but visually noticeable detailing. Naturally there are differences between IRL vehicles as well, therefore I tried to reach  the most common contemporary denominator that has the least amount of detailing. I will not be posting reference material here, but it can be added at a later stage.

Lastly I have not seen the model close up, so there might be other issue, but I will update them when we all get our hands on the vehicle.

Served on this?

Nope, just a trained eye ^_^. A friend owns a MTLB for hunting, but it definitely isn't a 6MB.

What on earth are you hunting?! That'd be a sight to see, an MTLB out on a hunting expedition.

Quality feedback!

You can get a decommissioned MTLB for like 20K USD. Its good for when you have to get a lot of people to a remote place over bad terrain. Quite a number of remote fishing/hunting businesses own it.

It's less about needing the armor and more about the low ground pressure giving it good mobility

Those things are LOUD though, you'd think when hunting, that thing would scare off every animal in a mile radius :D

Great research  you've done there regarding the vehicles!

Hopefully the Developers take the feedback you've given them and add it to the models!

TBH most people won't notice the details you list as they'll be hiding when they see one coming. I know I will.

I do however salute your research / knowledge / effort and hope the devs take note and make sure these things are correct for those it really matters to.

This happens when you have been waiting for vehicles for almost a year and could do nothing except starring at the arts.

@Major Trouble

Most people will notice the details, because the driver wouldn't see where hes driving and the gunner cant see where hes shooting.

Or the Shields should open when you enter the vehicle on the specific position

See that 12 point buck over there? Lets blow the shit out of it. After that we need a rain jacket for the pouring blood rain that we sacrifice it to the overlord.

Yeah, one also has to keep track of all the detail variations. In terms of MT-LB 6MB's they are quite a few variations, for example on the mudguards and the side-skirt mount system. I didn't mention them in the breakdown because they are not wrong, but perhaps I need to add the variations. You can save a couple (tens?) of poly's by going with a more standard (late) mudguards.

Some further explanation on different MT-LB hulls and parts. Green checks mark what I think should be on Russian MT-LB's in squad. Milita factions can have other variants. This is not an exhaustive list (obviously), just some more noticeable parts. What I did not cover are handlebars positions, tracks, vent system access point covers and rear view mirrors.
