That's a good idea. Maybe you can attach a message to it and you can type like "teamwork oriented guy, played with your SM *name before, may I join? "

Oh no! Im not begging for being part of a locked squad. If they decided to play for themselves they have to get around with it. And if they loose players i dont give s fook.

I'm fine with how it is now. I have faith that the devs know what they're doing

I'm also fine with it. That's why i dont want locked squads

I think it's unethical to lock out noobs and people you don't know. It is your duty to the community to train noobs and be an example to people you don't know.

As such, I can't espouse squad-level favoritism like kicking a player I don't know out of the squad to make room for one I do know (even for my 2.FJg comrades). If he isn't doing anything wrong, I won't kick him. It's the principalities involved. Plus, communicating this request and reluctance often helps your squad-mates decide not to be stragglers out doing their own thing - they know someone is waiting to take their place in the squad.

Same with preserving the squad you had the last match - it SHOULD be subject to change every match. Share the love.

As for vehicles, mortar teams, different sizes, whatever - those should be regulated at the Squad Creation event.

This is why I like the idea of pre formed squads to join that need to fill up to a certain point to get deployed.....once they fill up completely they can auto lock.   And if people drop from squad it wont reopen for others to join until it drops to that minimum point again.  This way a squad simulates losing members and still operating without a full squad in battle.  You could even put in that match wont start until a minimum number of squads have formed.  I know this will alarm the total open formation people, but I think it should be tried and can be tweaked and even be a server option.

Join a server to find 12

4 man squads all locked

and no one left has a mike or speaks your language

and yes you could go join another  server but sometimes all the low ping servers are full or empty

and then you go play something else and that doesn't help squad !

When I join any server now, I usually find one Polish squad, one French, another one with Russians and if I'm lucky I get to see an English one. I still don't quit Squad because of it. I switch teams. If there are no squads I like, I make one myself. Quitting because there are no squads I like seems kinda childish, especially now after the last update when squad takes ages to start and load a game (wtf btw?). I feel like some of the people don't like locking because they had bad experiences in PR where it was actually possible to find no squads to join because of the 9 squad maximum. But we are not limited by the old engine anymore, so that's not going to be the case here. Also, having all squads locked and none to join might actually prompt somebody to try out leading his own squad for the first time, so it may not be all that bad.

Playing Squad NOT in a squad  aint squad

forming a squad of your own when others have NO mic or their language IS NOT your language is NOT squad

Switching teams and waiting 220 secs means people LEAVE and try somewhere else (not everyone switches teams for the wrong reasons)

That's why people leave

People leaving is not good for Squad

Switching teams for me is usually a consequence of either squads being full or they're not speaking my mono linguistic skill set (that's my fault). This mainly happens on non-clan servers I go to when I can't find a space on my favs. The problem is also really I don't like to play SL, at least, not yet so starting my own squad is a thing I avoid. Besides I would not be a great team player if I then couldn't speak to other SLs.

Locking squads won't really give me anywhere to go in those situations I mention so I will just leave. I do believe there are many who would feel the same way. Over time if that happens on a frequent basis you will probably find those leaving do not return either to the server or, worse still, Squad itself. Fixed size, pre-designated, full squads (armour, mortor etc) I have no problems with but locked squads for bands of 2s and 3s is a big turn off and smacks of some kind of elitism where they deem themselves to good to play with others or feel they have the god given rights to name themselves armour, or whatever, and claim that resource for themselves.

locking your squad is basically choosing to lonewolf as a squad, and one squad playing by themselves cannot win the match. you need to be a whole team player which involves putting up with stuff you don't like. 'bad' players should be community educated which will never happen if squads can be locked. Infact I think kicking should be based on vote to kick instead of just upto the SL. from my expereince a good squad leader makes all the difference between a bunch of random people playing together or everyone off doing their own thing. if you are getting "randoms ruining your game" the fault is probably with the SL, i've played alot and met very few genuinely disruptive players. also if you are that concerned about not playing with people you don't like or so childish you only want to play with your friends get your own private server when you can.

As a compormise I do think the SL should be allowed to allocate/remove kits so noob players can't hog specialist gear. I think that would massively discourage lonewolfing and promote teamwork without predjudicing and excluding players.

.... Locking a squad at a set amount of player count... So you could lock it with 4 slots when you make it... How's that sound?

Locking a squad with 1 person would be silly, they might as well stay unassigned. 4 sounds about right, if they want their little gang to play together. They`ll lose out on the benefits of a full squad, but their choice.

Someone is afraid being left alone.

Locked squads all the way. So tired of naming the squad for the clan and country and then have multiply randoms join in while not saying a word and just run around making managing the squad impossible.

The kick button is pretty easy to use. I'm not certain if it has been implemented but a cool-down period before a person can rejoin a squad they've been kicked from is obviously necessary.

Really want to be able to lock squads. If it is abused and 3-4 people squads arise, that is what server admins are for.

I believe this community can moderate itself in that regard.

However, it is SO annoying when you want to play with your mates in TS and you have to manually kick everyone who joins your "PRIVATE SQUAD" even though you named it that. It may sound like a luxury problem, but in the heat of the battle, it really is annoying.

If people want "locked" squads, they will get them by kicking everyone anyways. This is just annoying and hinders gameplay - but they still do it because there's no other way.

It will be meaningfull with a commander role. Commander will check squad roles with squad leaders and will determine squad roles and counts with SLs.. he will have rights to remove and place the lock and change the squad names.

Will he? I don't see why squad leaders shouldn't be able to manage their squads on their own without a commander.

It's meaningful right now when I want to make a 4-man Logistics squad and take a supply truck. I don't want to have to continuously kick people who join late and run around because they don't fit my plans for the smaller squad.

People clearly don't read squad names or maybe just don't care and will join my "4 MAN LIMIT" and try to do their own thing.

I believe it was left out for V7 because it's release was going to bring a huge influx of players and having all the newer players locked out of squads would have been a problem. On the flip side, we've had some time with V7 now and squad roles like Logistics can be clearly defined. Having the ability to lock the squad just helps the SL's ability to manage his squad. And without good SLs and tools for the SLs, Squad becomes just another shooter in my opinion.

I truly believe public gameplay and teamwork would improve as well. Maybe have the fewest number in the squad be 3 before the ability to lock it is allowed? That way the squad is still reasonably full functioning with the ability to set FOBs, claim vehicles, and capture flags. :)

Much agree. I played pr after discovering squad and Like the way the claiming system is set up.in pr. Being able to focus solely on btr support and transpo will really give infantry sl breathing room on how much of the battlespace they can manage and in cases micro manage.

Just like to add once the locked squads has been added I think the admins will need some more clearly defined tool's so we can see every player who is in a vehicle and what seat there in?
