Im writing this now because I will probably forget it later haha, and its good solution actualy.

Some players are against tanks in the game because they would become over powered. I ve been thinking about this for some time.

Gunner: Ussualy in games you control gun turret with the mouse, but in reallity, you dont, you have stick, like in airplanes, and it works like AWSD. What I wanted to say is that gunner should control turret this way because it would become realistic, and it would be much harder to aim. He can pres shift for faster turret movement. Gun stabilization should be implemented too.

Driver: Nothing special, you should only implement fuel in the game.

Comander: Ability to use binoculars from the cupola, or however you call that place from where he can peek from inside the tank.

I 100% understand that tanks are not priority for next 6 months or more, but you should really consider this.

What you think about that?

Sorry for bad English.

I think it's not neccessary, as we've seen in PR (yes I know, this again). But look it up:

This will be balanced out enough by the overall kinda slow preparations and movements, no need to implement 100 year old, console-like controls for the turret with unneccessary frustrations.

tanks are not overpowered...
they have long ass spawn timers and squads will be able to use HAT kits to disable them and blow them up.
I don't know who these "Many players" are but I have yet to see any?

and a mouse is closer to a joystick then a keyboard is, thats why you use your mouse to aim in games that use controller analog sticks instead of ASWD.

I think the WASD is a bit extreme..

Have faith in the developers and planners, they aren't going to chuck in some tank from BF4 thats super sensitive and quick. It will be balanced, with specialist kits needing to crew them, large respawn timers, and possibly a start delay so you can't just rush at the start of the match. :)

As a former Abrams crewman, it bothers me every time I see a gun tube displayed inside the gunners sight.  Please don't do that in Squad :)

Im hoping for tank only maps and battles like in BF1942 where each squad has three tanks and every squad is a tank squad so its basically just tanks on tanks with maybe a couple of squads as support and logistics for tank only type battles like this one:

http://www.realtimerendering.com/erich/bf1942/aberdeen.html

While the 'tank battle' maps might make a good mod, I believe Squad is supposed to portray combined arms combat. With that in mind, you better get prepared for long periods of hiding and laying low if there's an enemy tank nearby and no means of taking it out.

On another episode of "You might know from PR"...

A tank only battle scenario could exist in Squad I feel...it would just lean into being a tank mostly 1 st infanrty armored division against another infantry armored unit on the battlefield...but without RP or FOB building. And its a special map to be played only occasional unless it gets popular map. :)

In PR there is vehicle warfare. I love vehicle warfare in PR and I hope it returns for Squad. I know most people hate it, but screw them :P

A tank only type of map would also train everyone on tank controls virtually at same time, we would all become tank experts at controls! :)

All I hope is that people will not be able to swing the main tank barrel at super high speed because of high mouse sensitivity or something like that.

Yeah that won't happen, should be locked to realistic traverse speeds. Which are decently quick but not like BF4. Keep in mind too that there will be no 3rd person view/external vehicle camera. The primary weakness of tanks and APC/IFVs is that they are essentially blind and need support from infantry to not be ambushed.

Good, exactly how i was hoping it was going to be.

I respectfully disagree. This is not a tank sim.

Neither was BF1942....wouldnt call it one ...just a tank mostly infantry armor division battle map with both infantry and tanks ; not a tank sim.

I've had the sane thought about AWSD controls but I think the best solution is to use both AWSD and mouse.

AWSD is used to move the entire turret quickly (for a tank), like aiming east. Then the mouse is used for finer aim, like aiming at a specific bearing and elevation.

This way you you can make tank turrets slower to move than in most games but you don't get the issue where the player has to slide his mouse over and over to turn the thing. Overall it would look and feel better than purely mouse or keyboard controlled turrets.

arma 3 has some nice features, you can turn out and use binos, your rifle etc. it would be better than jumping out of the vehicle like in PR.

I was expecting this. Because it is in PR and it's a lot of fun, I just made a wish for it to return, not asking for it, just wishing. No need for those types of replies :)

Not even close to what was discussed. What I wished for was a game mode or just mod doing what PR did with vehicle warfare

Just trying to be helpful. Seemed strange to me to turn a game like Squad into War Thunder. Difference being you play with team mates in your tank.

The only thing MBTs lacked in PR was turret stabilisation, and if I remember correctly that was only because of engine limitations. I think controlling the turret with the mouse will be fine, but then again I'm not going to be tanking very often.

While I might not be the type of person that would want to play a vehicles only map, a single map by itself wouldn't turn the game into War Thunder. Regardless though, I doubt the developers would even think about creating such a map until the game is fully realised.

It's not about turning it into something it's not, it's about variation. And judging from PR I only see one server a month, maybe, running vehicle warfare because it's not something most people want to play often. When they do it's fun as hell for one round and then it's back to normal. Just assuming this would be the same in Squad. I only wish for this as a means for variation :)

Yep good way to empty a server. Give the people something not many want. Seriously, if you want just vehicle warfare there are better games to get your kicks from without depriving the community of the game they've come to play.
