There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments. §2 Reporting Moderators

I dislike so much the "forced zoom" that was introduced in v10, please allow us to not be forced to zoom in when all I want is simply ADS no need for the zoom, it's annoying, make it like PR please then again, when I want is to "focus" for a clear shot, I have even more zoom, please, all I want is to be steady, not to zoom in 1x in the target there is no scope in the gun, then I dont want the zoom my suggestion, is to unbind the "forced zoom" from the "focus" (gun steadiness), maybe in the menu we can choose, so we can disable it then, when disable, it would be like this: Right click: ads (no zoom) Shift: steady (no zoom) please, you fixed the nametags, maybe you can do this too? give the hardcore players this... thx edit: also, having the screen moving forwards and backwards everytime is horrible for CQB
I'm new at this game, but I have played a lot of other realistic games before, such as Arma and RedOrchestra series. Squad feels like a really great game, but the game's "Focus" mechanics really bothers me, and I feel like there is so much potential to improve the game by changing just this one thing. 1. Zoom. I know there is a group of people that refuse to understand the real purpose of zoom because "bionic eye". I'm part of the group that feels that zoom is essential to present the game in a realistic way. It is essential to be able to properly assess distances and engage in combat. Squad offers so much potential with it's large viewing distances, please don't undermine it with poor zoom implementation. Right now there seems to be 2 problems with zoom: It feels that the game doesn't zoom-in enough. Whatever your FOV slider in the game is, whenever you "focus", your FOV should change so that a person at 100m on your screen is the same size as a person at 100m in real life. This will allow you to notice and engage enemies at the right time, as well as properly assess distances and correct for target distance and target speed. Zoom shouldn't be time limited. The game shouldn't zoom-out when you run out of breath, because zooming-in isn't "focusing your eyes to see better", it's "looking at the world at a realistic scale". It should not be linked to breathing. It is extremely annoying right now. 2. Holding Breath. Red Orchestra 2 has a really great mechanic for "holding breath". Instead of stopping breathing for a short time when pressing a button, your character goes into "controlled breathing mode". In this mode the character stabilizes his breathing, making longer pauses in between inhaling and exhaling for you to make the shot. This works so much better than the current Squad implementation. It allows you to have better control of your gun without unrealistically reducing sway. You just have to time your shots better. This breathing mode also adds a lot of options to realistically reduce it's effect: you can't properly control breathing after a long sprint, when your stamina is low, or when you're receiving heavy enemy fire (suppression). TLDR: Change "Focus" mode so that zooming is done to a realistic level (1:1 scale with real world) and is not linked to breathing. Change breathing from "holding breath" to "controlled breathing".
Ironsight weapons will have a very slight permanent zoom increase when aiming down the sights to increase the ability to effectively return fire against scoped opponents. Can we have a menu option to toggle this on or off as we please? If off in menu, there will be no zoom watsoever in any ironsighted guns, including HMG, techies, side-guns on choppers, etc. That is just for scopes
Will we ever have optic's in game that look realistic instead of just zooming in the entire screen? I tried my hand at Photoshop to demonstrate what I mean. Another good example would be from Red Orchestra 2 I think it would make the game that much more immersive and add that extra bit of realism to the game.
Arduras posted a topic in Feedback & SuggestionsRight now, any map the US has a CROW they can utterly dominate. Many accounts of foliage no rendering at long range, different geometry so they can spot people from long range. Not to mention it's a 50 cal with a long range zoom. On a specific map (the one with north/south DC, forgot the name) The US utterly massacres militia by hitting the hills east of DC and having 50 cal overwatch over the entire map as far as the C column of grids. This is ridiculously brutal and nobody can get anywhere near the hmmvw to hurt it. When we do hurt it, the CROW takes 5 RPGs and still doesn't go down (probably a repair station nearby since it's the meta to superfob those hills to the east and completely destroy the entire west 2/3rds of the map) Can we please balance this? Either fix the rendering, reduce the zoom, or make it worth 30 tickets. It's far more effective than the BTR in just about any situation other than transporting troops, no reason it can't have the cost associated. edit: the main issue is getting shot from a kilometer or more away through all kinds of foliage (and solid cover) from something you can't even see (even with optics most of the time, you just see the tracers) it's just brutal on a whole other level and contributes to the phrase "Playing US is easy mode"
Hello, I'm not sure where else this would belong. Perhaps on Bug Report, but perhaps this might garner the question if others have had the issue as well. It's really rare, actually. I haven't had anything else happen like it before. I had my map open after pressing M, then pressing N (while gun fire was in the background, I believe it was the .50's), the game crashed. Prompting this error: Error Image If there is anything else that needs to be provided, I will do so for the devs. E:/ Crap just noticed where this was posted. 1. When running, your head doesn't really move at all. It feels like you're a camera that's panning. Increase head bob when running. I'd even increase head bob fractionally when walking, then up further for when running. 2. IRL when sighting a weapon your head leans in toward the sight some. When you sight in Squad, it's like you're just holding the weapon up in front of your face. Increase the zoom some, perhaps to around half the value of the zoom that results from holding your breath. ATM you feel about ten miles away from the foresight. Just because zoom is a popular topic does not mean it shouldn't be brought up, so I saw fit to mention my opinion on zoom as well as a suggestion for head bob when running. Just because you see zoom brought up "again" doesn't mean it deserves to be dissed, especially when it is not the focus of the topic, so please reply considering that.
Hi, forum This is my first post, I tried to search for topics like this one but did not really find anything, so I went ahead and made a thread. First off i really like the role of binoculars in the game, as I mostly play medic, it gives me a role out of combat. -Is it an "alpha-issue" that binocular vision is just a "zoomed" view? I would like to see through a hole or an oval, as it looks in real life, with bad periphial vision - it shouldnt be too hard to implement either. - I would like a distance recorder / laser on the binoculars! (maybe just the SL's, or if a Sniper-team role is ever implemented, for the spotter to have good binoculars, with distance measurement.) -Will there be zooming on snipers? I have only tried the SVD, but I think it's a pretty weak zoom... personally I have an 2-8x scope just for playing hardball, so it should be possible to zoom more, and hopefully also change the zoom. also a fun mechanic for snipers to have to do a little tweaking when putting people to rest. -The grenade launchers, or even sniper scopes should be able to be changed - to fire on different ranges (by rolling your mouse 3) to correct for bullet/grenade drop. I haven't felt any ballistics too much in the game(if at all), and honestly I don't know how much they effect real life shooting, but I think it would add to the fun, and its not like one wouldn't have the time to change the sights before enganging an FOB fx. This would also give the laser/distance viewer a nice role in-game, and enforce communication further. thanks for reading :)
Hi guys I have a simple request that I know I would find very useful. Could we please get the ability to assign a key to zoom out of the on screen map as opposed to the single cycle mode we have now? I've lost count the amount of times I'm tying to zoom in on the map on the fly and zoom in too far only to have to cycle through all the views again lol. I know you have full manipulation of the map on the spawn screen but I think this small addition would be neat while on the move :) Obviously this is far from an essential feature but I'm curious what everyone else thinks?
Hey, It's me again. This time I would like to address on the issue of zooming. When you ADS, you press shift, you would be able to zoom slightly to see enemies clearer. However, it is only a slight zoom. For players playing on poor monitors like 720p monitors like mine, it is very hard to see enemies more than 100m away. I would like to suggest having zooming same with the ACOG distance, and for acog users to be able to zoom also but only abit. Or scratch that entirely and go for binoculars for every player. probrably weaker binoculars compared to the Squad leaders. Thanks
Something didnt work properly with the pictures so Im just going to gave you this links instead of them. Something what annoys me and probbably a lot of other players in the Squad and other fps games is zooming the scope .When you use scope which can maginfy, it zoomes in the whole picture instead of only scope. The problem with this is rendering. If you had normal aiming in the games your screen picture would look like 1x outside and lets say 4x inside of the scope, but then your pc would need to render the map twice what dramatically lowers frames per second. So I noticed that there's no scopes on assault rifles expect for US. The maps are big and so it would be nice to also have scopes(red dots and etc.) for RU and Militia. Second, why is there no scope available for the medic? And finally, raising my weapon doesn't bring a close up, I have to press shift to zoom and on top of that it is time limited... Just my opinion and ideas to help better the game. Besides that, great job and keep up the good work!
As a big RO2 player I really like the focus feature. However I think the focus should last as long as you hold shift. How is this balanced out? Focus is only available when you have green stamina and stationaryIncoming suppression prevents you from focusingCan't focus in bleed stateNow I know that the first point is already in the game. With long engagement distances, ironsights (ak and rpg) could really earn their keep with this. Closed pre alpha, perhaps this could be tested in one of the next builds and see how it impacts gameplay.
Did a search on binoculars and zooming nutin came up.... I hope a character will have this capabilty to zoom in from afar using spotting binocular range finding set. Would be cool asset and it would be bigger and see farther than just a rifle scope.
please add a zoom mode in the main menu of the game, so that we can change it according to this suggestion: I really don't care what it should be called, so I made my own names: (no to be taken seriously, ok?) 1-) Battlefield (or Call of Duty): what it is now, zoom for everything 2-) Project Reality: no zoom at all, only scoped weapons will have that, and that's all. No zoom for 0.50 cal humvees, techies, or choopers (side guns) either. Nothing The changes can be client-sided. It won't affect the server or gameplay of others. That means people decided how they want it Or it can be serve-sided too Most important: There can't be a third option, kind of a mix (between the two options, or anything else). Either it's on (battlefield/call of duty) or off (project reality) Thank you!
