      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
        §10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. I believe by adding dynamic weather scenarios(rain, snow, ice, hail) and the desired effects(driving, lighting, sound) you would take the game's realism up 10000000%
  2. Hi guys, did you ever ask yourself how rain would look and play like in Squad? Look no further and watch my imagination of a heavy rain firefight at Sumari. Hope you like it and leave some feedback here or on Youtube. Cheers, Mauti
  3. I want to suggest you to make some variants of weather for maps. For example, night, fog with rain, strong wind in desert and more. It will be more atmospheric i think. I hope you understand what i said=)
  4. For those of you that don't know me, I'm Results45 (Results for short). I've only made 9 posts and started 1 topic ("Meet the Developers!"), but what surprised me was how readily you guys supported and engaged in discussion. The reason for my surprise is that I've been heavily involved with the game War Thunder for the past 3 years of whom Gaijin's developers take little effort (such like this) to actively engage, consult, and gain feedback-support from their players. Before I get to asking my first questions, I'd like to share a bit about myself. I'm a student on the West Coast (USA) and have been playing aircraft and combat vehicle simulator games since I was seven (I guess Command & Conquer doesn't really count, but to me it's still one of the best RTS games out there :.P). Some of my other hobbies include biking, hiking, web design, cooking, sketching-out invention ideas, reading adventure fiction, and going to the movies & bowling with my friends. Speaking of gaming, I've been involving myself with War Thunder and its active forumbase for the past 3 years. And to distill down to basic terms what War Thunder hopes to achieve by release (hopefully around 2020) is an E-rated, non-FPS combined-arms game (air/land/sea vehicles) that caters epic open-world WWII/early Cold War campaign gameplay to both arcade-style players (from Armored Warfare or Wargaming's WoTs & WoWs) and die-hard simulator fans alike (from Microsoft FSX, DCS World, Steel Beasts, and Steel Armor). This is exactly what Squad (your game) aims to achieve in bridging the gap between unrealistically paced arcade shooters like Call of Duty and ultra-complex sims like Arma III through definitive team-oriented gameplay. This is where my questions about Squad start surfacing ;.) 1. While Wargaming and Gaijin focus much of development in game content & features, you guys at Offworld shine in prioritizing cooperative teamwork and building great gameplay. Are there plans for a wide selection of aircraft, AFVs, supply-support vehicles, and watercraft as well as large-scale or open-world campaigns once the basework of team-dependent gameplay mechanics are largely completed? 2. Will any game-modes like "campaign mode", "quick battles", "squad-league tournaments", or "Fantasy Skirmishes" be introduced? 3. Knowing that Squad is still in its early stage(s) of development, will surface textures, weather effects, lighting, and sky rendering improve to feel relatively more photorealistic? Squad Gameplay footage in max/ultra quality --- Desert Landscape & Scopes --- Night Battle --- Ultra Setting w/ vegetation environment Compared closely with the level of graphics realism of other AAA and UE4 games (i.e. Ground Branch, Escape Form Tarkov, and War Thunder), Squad honestly appears at first glance to be ARMA III on steroids. I think your game coupled with the UE4 capability deserves to have graphics realism and time-of-day gameplay kicked up a notch. Example for Question #1 Examples (I focused on question #3 because I have more to demonstrate for it -- the first two are still just as important to address): Ground Branch Escape From Tarkov: War Thunder: BONUS: On a closing note, I really appreciate everything you've already made this game to be because it's closely team-oriented co-op gameplay all the way (relatively uncommon among 1st/3rd-person tactical shooters) that should only get better and better from here on out. Plus, I'm really excited to get into playing Squad and supporting you and your work in the coming months. Seize the Day and keep-on grunting, Results45
  5. Maybe some ideas

Hi all, I'm GReddy and just started playing Squad for a week now. Already made some steps of making a platoon/squad/clan/community what ever you wanna call it. We have our own teamspeak so feel free to join and team up. We prefer 17+ players, just mature players. teamspeak. eultimate.eu Well introducing myself isnt why I posted here, so here are some ideas/ maybe existing ideas. ( there are so many topics so havent read them all ) Dont get all upset on maybe some typ-o's I'm Dutch so im doing my best. Ideas- 1. After placing the ammo crate there is unlimited ammo, well if were gonna chase the realism of war that is ofcourse impossible. Maybe downgrade and have unlimited ammo at every main base. --> eyes on the vehicles that are coming soon, it would be nice to transport ammo to forwarded bases. So you get supply lines that will make it even more tense to hold a specific base untill the next ammo re-supply will come, or get totally rekt by the enemy :D. 2. I have seen it more on the forum of requesting different weather types or changes. Indeed I would like that also, laying in the hills waiting to spot enemies while it rains softly and some thunder rumbling in the background. ( The soft wind that is already in game is really perfect! I really love it) 3. The story that russian/taliban fighters IRL dont have scopes is some real BS. I've seen some wiseguys saying yeah well that is their advantage in CQB and they shouldnt fight the US army over distance/hills. The russian army uses alot of different scopes like the Kobra red dot, PGO, PSO. And as the major middle east export of weapons taliban aswell has these scopes. Talking with friends that are in the army have claimed this aswell. Maybe the taliban does not have scopes to there availability as much as the russian but they got enough in the middle east to use, so considering adding them in low numbers to the taliban and more to the russian would be a realistic add to the game IMO. Oh yeah and maybe a small sniper on the US side? I dont want to see that the game is getting to OP but a small sniper would be great tho, I just love sniping. 4. Everyone that love war simulators has probably like me, youtubed there arse off on iraq/afghanistan docu's, short films of real life combat. The most tense thing to see IMO are air support strikes from the UN/US / Or mortars incoming from the taliban. I would love to see some of this action in the game. NOT MUCH but just enough to heat it up a little bit. Like as in a squad you earn points, earn enough points to unlock an A10 warthog gatling gun, JDAM bombs and some taliban mortars or some of those home made rockets like they are using to attack israel. here a little link as example (Only Squad leaders can call these ofcourse) -------- http://www.takeapen.org/Takeapen/UploadFiles/pgallery/1893599278.jpg-------- 5. Factions! I would love to see more european factions or one big european faction. Alot of european countries are fighting or stabalizing alot of countries in the world so that would be great. ::Update:: 21-1-2016 6. It would be nice to drag a body away from a firefight so he can be healed. Bug I found a bug that when switching to m203 it refuses to shoot ( And yes I checked my ammo ) While switching back the main gun sometimes refuses to shoot aswell. ------- I hope you guys agree on some of ideas. Dont get me wrong with somethings on this list, I would really hate to lose the nice tactical slow tense play of the game. I would hate if things will make it to OP. Best regards and see you on the battlefield! [eU] GReddy.
  6. Will there be a feature like this that will make it hard to hear people coming or if you're running in a thunderstorm, any kind of weather situation? Will you be able to cover up footsteps to lose those following you from a distance or close by? Will there be Ghillie Suits to blend in as a sniper and a spotter, will there be a spotter role to help snipers find targets?
  7. It would be nice if the game implemented a simulated heat haze on the desert maps. I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about. From far away on a hot day, the hot air close to the ground causes "wavy" patterns and occasional mirages. Here's an image of what I'm talking about: The effect would really add to the realism of the game, giving you the feeling of being in a hot desert environment. It would also make it more difficult to make out targets from far away.
  8. The Weather

I suggest to have two weather for each map: day and night. That make more possibility of gameplay like to use night vision, other tactics, flares (?), etc. It's more hardest too to play in the night. Other suggestion: Dynamic weather for the big party, that part of the suggestion goes with my others suggestions here: http://forums.joinsquad.com/topic/303-a-special-game-mode/#entry4878 Please check it, to improve it if you want.
