To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users. §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with. §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time. §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics, etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal. §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest. §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments. §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). Anyone ever played ''Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising'' or ''Operation Flashpoint: Red River'' it's quite great and amazing for Squad players, it's quite realistic and fun, it's great for squad leaders or anyone that's a fan of action/military games really, anyone ever tried it? Leave a comment!
I'm honestly not exactly sure where to put this, I thought about Feedback and Ideas but this doesn't directly relate to the exact development of the current game though it does relate to the future of Squad. I also thought about putting this into non-"Squad" discussion, but I feel this has more to do with the future modding of Squad and it feels like so many want to make another bloody WW2 mini-mod, which while I'm certain is well-intended filled with a love for the history of the 2nd World War, I am very weary of that supposed genre. And TL;DR for those who don't want to go through a wall of text: Western Front + Eastern Front != World War Two the former two of which are way overdone as settings in supposed "World War Two" FPS Now I will be expanding on a reddit post I made on a kickstarter post about [url="https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/498i7x/days_of_war_kickstarter_video_spiritual_successor/"]Days of War. Now, before anyone calls me out for being hypocritical (the boldness symbolizes and embodies my wishes that this be read first! Or at the very least before anyone responds), as I recently expressed my excitement and speculation that PR:WW2 was ready for PR v.1.4 (which btw if anyone couldn't tell I speaking humourously as the a dev already stated it would not be included in 1.4, though I will try to find that exact post) I would like to make clear that PR:WW2 began development 2012-2013 (though it might have been even earlier) during which the "established" and alive WW2 shooters were really only Red Orchestra 2 and Forgotten Hope 2 (and FH2 does not have large playerbase at all). Additionally I did not really enjoyed PR:Normandy/WW2 due to its low quality compared to vanilla PR, consistent bugs, janky and odd models, very bare and open landscapes w/ low foliage and cover, and a terrible deviation for bolt action rifle and only really changed my mind after that mindblowingly awesome Alpha test of OP Overlord back in Christmas 2014. Thus I shall begin my appeal, which I state, current and future modders , if you are modding or considering modding Squad and have worked on or are considering working on a World War Two mini-mod/add-on, I beseech you for the life of me to seriously reconsider, Why am I perhaps poking into business that is perhaps not mine? Because I believe that the "return" of the "WW2" FPS shooter paradigm will only ruin and bring mediocrity to a genre that is already ruined by bland, and cyclical themes. Here is a list of new WW2 shooters (including PR:WW2) Days of War Battalion 1944 Insurgency: Day of Infamy Traction Wars And of course our very own PR:WW2 (formerly PR:Normandy) However, not only are there these somewhat recent "WW2" shooters already out, there are actually a good number of popular and populated "WW2" shooters Red Orchestra 2 And Rising Storm 2 Heroes and Generals Forgotten Hope 2 With the exception of RS and some maps from FH2, all of these are set in the Western or Eastern Fronts and while storming the beaches of Normandy in PR:WW2 was incredibly visceral and intense, I am honestly getting sick of that setting. Seriously, even though Western Front was perhaps the greatest and hopefully last struggle between industrial nations and I doubt that WW2 would have ever ended in Allied victory without the sacrifice of millions of Soviet lives on the Eastern Front, THAT IS NOT THE ENTIRETY OF WORLD WAR TWO. There are so many theatres and campaigns in WW2 that are NEVER explored by video games. There was the 2nd Sino-Japanese War, the Burma Campaign, the Aleutian Campaign, the guerilla campaigns of partisans across Nazi-occupied Eastern Europe (yes Enemy Front is set during the Warsaw Uprising, but the focus was on singleplayer and the multiplayer is mostly dead), the early war when Germany rolled over Europe, the North African theatre, the Balkan and Greek campaigns, the Winter War of 1939, the Soviet-Japanese border conflicts, the invasion of Manchuria (both the Soviet and Japanese), the overlap of the Chinese Civil War over the 2nd Sino-Japanese War. I could go on and on about theatres and campaigns that I think are honestly far more interesting than the classic Western or Eastern Front; the Sino-Japanese war was marked by absolutely intense urban combat with bolt action rifles as the primary firearm, usage of interwar weapons and tactics, and an asymmetrical component characterized by the relatively under-industrialized status of China. The Battle of Nanking was fought by the defending Chinese from a wall built during the freaking Ming Dynasty! I therefore conclude and beg, dear modders, to explore new options within the genre of World War 2 not constrained by the overdone and over-saturated Normandies and Stalingrads and the occasional Iwo Jimas so as to diversify the genre of first person shooter and avoid the mediocrity of mainstream paradigms. Post Scriptum is a WW2 modification for the acclaimed tactical shooter SQUAD. Players will relive the events of ‘Operation Market Garden’ across the fields and towns of Holland. This massive Allied assault consisted of a coordination of the British and American Airborne to capture key bridges while the British XXX Corps moved to reinforce them through Highway 69. However, consecutive delays in consolidating ground from the north of Belgium through Nijmegen forced the 1st British Airborne Division in Arnhem to make a stand much longer than anticipated. With no successful link between the XXX Corps and the Airborne in sight, the seventh and final bridge in Arnhem was considered lost. ‘The Bloody Seventh’ is our name for the initial focus of the project as we feel it succinctly details the struggle that the British paratroopers had to endure while waiting for their army counterpart to establish a link through the Lower Rhine. Players will be given the option to fight with the British Airborne Division, British XXX Corps or several branches of the German Army, such as the Wehrmacht or the Waffen SS. It’s a rare opportunity to experience the intense battlefield that was the Battle of Arnhem, which stretched across farms, woods, villages and city areas. Are you going to release your content for the modding community? In the current state, as a modding project, most likely not. Is Arnhem going to be the only place you will cover in the campaign? No. It’s in our plans to go beyond that but ‘The Bloody Seventh’ alone will be quite a monumental task. Will we be able to play with vehicles in the first release? It’s preferable not make promises of that sort while so early in development. Why aren’t you working with other WW2 mods in SQUAD? PR:WW2 initiated talks with WW2 mods in the beginning of February. The proposition would be for each lead developer to have an equal share of decision making within the project. Eventually only ‘La Voie de La Liberté’ agreed with those terms as well as sharing equal views in structure, planning and team management. Are you going to lean towards the Allies in your visual concept? We have a neutral stance regarding both factions. We will balance our promotional campaign between one and another throughout our development. The only one sided leaning element might be baseline with its ‘bloody’ British cursing but that was purposely named to have a double meaning as both sides never had full control of Arnhem’s road bridge. Will you censor Nazi symbols? It’s not in our plans to do so. We believe that every single historical element should be captured regardless of its significance. However, we can't ignore country laws in which such symbols are not allowed. For that reason we’re planning to make a censored version for players that live in countries where Nazi symbolism it’s outlawed. However, our execution of this censored version hinges on many factors, some of which may be out of our control.

In Afgahistan, the Taliban will hide behind a pile of rocks with a large rock on top of their gun and it makes it really hard for them to be seen. There is still a small hole they can see out of. Also, buildings have bullet holes everywhere, which makes awesome sniper positions, the buildings in Squad look like they never seen combat. Watch Syria war footage and see how effective they are. Very. If there is more trash that is added to the game and insurgents could place IEDs in the trash would be cool. Cows and goats and chickens in the compounds.
First and foremost, I wanted to create this thread so players can tell their experiences, stories, and thrilling moments while playing Squad. I feel that this can help bring the community together, give the devs an idea of what the players are experiencing on their games, and let us relate to each other with these events. Pre-Alpha Release. >Literally the first match ever on the pre release 20150925. >Servers are flooding with players trying to join. >Finally get on a server. >Join a squad, called "Catnip Herding" or something like that. >Start kicking down doors, and taking names. >Other squads are full of idiots. >We decide to take initiative and build a super fob ontop of this hill. >Stack sandbags on sandbags, add bunkers, you name it. >Enemy squads take a notice to our super fob. >They launch an assault. >We quickly demolish them. >Fortify it more, thinking we are doing pretty good for the first game. >Other squads are getting rekt. Like, they are full of idiots. >They are spread out more than a drunk white girl wanting pumpkin spice at 3am. >We notice a enemy squad on the adjacent hill, about 150-200 yards away. >We are about to unleash hot lead onto them, when we are attacked from the rear. >2 squads. 2 fucking squads I shit you not come down on us. >We start freaking the fuck out. Defending our fob with like 13 people. (9 in the squad, 4 that realized everybody else is retarded) >We make the squad that was on the adjacent hill retreat, they were in the open in a valley coming to us, so they had it coming. >Two squads that flanked us are spread out pretty good, so we are getting pop shots from 180 degrees. >We can't really see them, so we just are chucking smokes, nades, and shooting into the brush. >All of a sudden, it gets real quiet. >Like, too quiet. >We honestly thought we either killed them all or they ran away. >We decided to rearm and get ready to cap the next flag since the other squads are still huffing paint and eating glue. >Then, bam, they start attacking us again. I kneel behind some sandbags, and start firing my automatic rifle into the brush. >I notice impacts on the ground around me, and some into the sandbags. >I go into prone, but its too late. I am unconscious. >I am screaming for a medic, as the glorious blaze of gunfire erupts throughout our mini valley. >I wake back up, seeing my fellow men get holes like swiss motherfucking cheese. >Medic is telling me not to move. >I hear a distinct "pink" noise. It had a lot of bass to it. >I see a motherfucking M67 fragmentation grenade. >I notify everybody of a grenade. I knew it was to late. Hello People I searched through the topics and have not found a satisfying answer or question that fits my lack of knowledge i want to know. So the question is: Is there any chance of an addon or update like pr vietnam or even dlc that take its time in the Vietnam War 1965-1975? I know there is a lot of work with the current squad idea and I support you, but pr vietnam maps are coming only very rare in pr servers and there is not really a modern game where you can taking place in vietnam and fight against charlie or fly with the glorious huey. Lotte from Battlefield 2 Eve of Destruction mod is making a new game called "EoD game" but he is alone and has many struggles.
