      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof) etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
        §10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   Section II: Forum Signatures   §1 Signature Dimensions
To avoid clutter, please make sure your signature (if you choose to have one) does not exceed the following size limit: 350x150 pixels. Your signature may consist of images, user bars and text elements, as long as the total size does not exceed 550 x 200 pixels. A small tolerance will be given, but any signature larger than the limit may at any time be deleted without prior warning. If you are not sure whether your signature is acceptable, please PM a moderator.   §2 Signature Content
All rules of section 1 fully apply to your signature. We will remove signatures or parts of signatures without notice if they violate the forum rules, and infractions may be given.   §3 Animated Signatures
Please refrain from using animated .gifs as signatures, they distract and clutter the forum.   Section III: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. Hello all. I created this topic to ask if anybody would grant me cam access on their server? I am not looking for any admin powers, it is purely for camera access. I would like to create some more Squad montages similar to this one where I added new blood and explosion effects. I will give a shout out on another video to which ever server/clan lets me gain footage from their server, Here's hoping you can help, thanks in advance. Uncle ParaPlays.

  4. Hello, Does anyone have tips for making vids and rendering them? Many of the Squad vids suffer from blurriness and are pretty awful to look at. Including my own. I started to remove Interlacing, motion blur and Frame Blending. Makes it a lot better. Any more tips? Recording in 80Bitrate and render the same. Use Sony Vegas Pro 12. Glhf. PS: Just began with this video stuff. Yes, I'm a noob at it.

  15. Okay while I'm not a big YT I do love making vids especially of games I really enjoy. Here is my first video of many more to come! As you can see I do get a little excited but that's just because I'm having a good time & get caught up in the heat of the moment. Appreciate the views, likes, and any subs as your support is greatly appreciated. Cheers! The following is from a battle today with some great squad mates. You can really get a sense of how a quiet troop movement can go bad very quickly...the fog of war is greatly replicated by this game! Thanks guys for the great round & hats off to the squad leader.
  16. Does anyone else run a Squad content specific channel anywhere on the interwebs? We should link/subscribe our pages to get more exposure. Any suggestions about better ways to do this are higher encouraged. My channels: Youtube Twitch I post videos under my older moniker Amerkican. *posted in videos. may need to be moved*
  17. I know I have a few videos up but everyone seems to be enjoying them. So here's the second half of that match. Russian Militants vs. US Army! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohkrUzoYxH8&feature=youtu.be Please don't forget to Like, Comment, and Share the videos! Thanks again guys!
  18. Well here we are. It has been a refreshing change to having many of us creating videos and supporting Squad, we have all shared and enjoyed the game, created montages and show reels, tutorials and action pieces to promote the game we all love. But now the game goes live I feel our time is over, the big youtube players out there who put no effort into their videos will gain thousands and thousands of views, meaning we will be forgotten and swept a side, our job here is done, it was great to promote Squad and garner others passion for this game. I had camera support taken away for a misunderstanding so there was no way for me to stand out anymore. It has been great to support each other during closed alpha and it feels to me like a close group will be blown open (for the good I know), and I am sure I will still do the odd video now and then, so thanks to our community and devs for the support of an amazing game, the community really has a passion for Squad as do I long may this continue while the carpet bombing of topics and complaints of new players floods in. Its been great to be part of a closed knit small community who all want the same thing. I salute you all. See you on the other side. Para. Let the Noob carnage begin....
  19. Hello all and especially devs. I wanted to put down a few suggestion for a promotional video. Also, if anyone else has ideas, add them below. Squad has some specific aspects which continue to bring me back almost every night. Teamwork, communication, tactics, milsim-like experience without encumbering menu systems, there are all quite fun. On the battlefield we create war stories of memorable moments. With that in mind, here is my scenario video. -admin cam and first person will be used- -Coms audio taken from in game- =This first section is edited to appear calmer, smoother, less frantic. Not stressful= [Aerial few of large map] Dust rises in the distance [Camera zooms on dust] A vehicle is seem driving, full of American soldiers [Cut to interior of vehicle] *Music of classic rock plays in the background* Squad leader's first person view: they're marking the map with symbols and detailing directions to his soldiers over local coms. [Cut to camera above and behind vehicle] [Camera lowers as a second vehicle thunders through the view, then a third vehicle follows] Each vehicle alters course following direction previous seen on the map. [Camera begins moving forward, in same shot: camera moves up to vehicles, pans to see interior soldiers and gunner, camera continues past vehicle, as camera passes vehicle it turns 180* keeping vehicle as focus but flying forward, camera stops when it comes to a hill, an American marksman squad is seen] Marksman's spotter is heard communicating over coms with squad leader. Permission to engage is heard over radio. [Cut to sniper's first person] Sniper takes aim, holds breath *Music changes, something like what you hear at the insurgent buildings* [Aerial cam zooms from sniper down the path of sight to the insurgent enemy: by zooming down the sight but in an arc, so that the camera can rotate forward, showing the ground and space between the shooter and enemy, camera stops when behind the insurgent, looking back towards the sniper] [Camera backs out of binocular view as Insurgent Squad Leader lowers them] Insurgent Squad Leader is heard over coms, "Fire!" =At this moment there is a pause. The speed of the video slows= *Music is slow, soft, and airy. Think original gears of war trailer* Insurgent Squad Leader drops to the ground, dying, a deafening buzz of a sniper round buzzes by. Immediately an insurgent medic tosses a smoke and dives into the the cover for mending. [Camera slowly zooms out, from above, revealing the remaining compound and sparse insurgents throughout. Smoke fills the empty spaces] [Continuing zoom out, one American vehicle is seen approaching compound. It stops, soldiers rush to the exterior wall] [Pan to an American soldier on the exterior wall, out of the corner of their view a small explosive blast is seen] [Cut to marksman squad] A frantic spotter is heard commanding marksman on bearing and coordinates. Marksman takes aim [Cut to insurgent RPG gunner's first person view, they see their rocket hit the wall with the first American squad] The American squad takes heavy causalities, but their vehicle and mounted gun survive the blast. [Cut to insurgents around RPG gunner, they are seen planting an IED in a road. the RPG gunner is seen dropping to the ground, dead.] Insurgent squad is seen ducking and hiding for cover running into the woods, a vehicle is heard approaching. [Camera sits in the road, insurgents still slightly enough in view, the second American vehicle approaches] [Vehicle drives over IED, massive explosion destroys second American vehicle] Suddenly the entire area is shredded with machine gun fire. The surviving first vehicle gunner tears into the surrounding area, insurgents are seen dropping to the ground. =Camera returns to normal speed= *Music changes again, something with a rising rift* [Cut to third American vehicle which just arrived at the insurgent compound.] Americans get out and immediately rush into interior of the compound. Following the American squad, CQB tactics are seen and heard over the coms. The marksman's spotter is heard over the coms calling out a specific coordinate. [Camera rotates to birds-eye view] A super-imposed map in seen above the compound matching the actual maps coordinates. The viewer is able to see the insurgents on the coordinates just announced. Map clears. [Camera holds in birds eye view as Insurgent and American forces are seen applying their strengths] Americans move slowly, calculated, and covering ever angle. Insurgents are seen sprinting and taking multiple quick positions. [Admin cam follow American Squad over the shoulder at a small distance] An insurgent jumps out in front of the squad, a small spray of red from the sniper bullet and he drops to the ground. Suddenly explosions and fire is heard encompassing the compound. [Camera pulls out, watching the firefight between advancing Americans and dug-in defensive Insurgents] [Camera cuts to 50M out] We see the marksman and GL's on a ridge firing [Camera cuts to 100M out] We see another compound with smoke and another fire fight happening. ["...200M out] In the further distance we see vehicles moving an bullet tracers. ["...300M out] Title Splash "Welcome to Squad" I'd also really like to see kit-specific promo videos. Especially quality squad leading. I would recommend getting first hand in game recordings from some of the best squad leaders when they have really talented squad members following. Maybe after the first squad league games we'll get videos like this. The actual communication is what really needs to be emphasized. It's one of the best parts. In-game in real scenarios (real virtual ones), that's when the best experiences are captured.
  20. So I had to stop making youtube videos a while back and now I finally got back into it now that I have much better internet connection. None of you have seen my videos so I think that would be the best way to get feedback. I am going to leave a couple videos in here and a link to my channel. What I am looking for is feedback on how I can improve my audio, music, cuts, etc. Please be honest if you hate it and tell me why. :) P.S - I plan to record many other games besides Gmod so I would also like to know what people want to see. Thanks, Nauticas. Gmod videos ***************** #1 - (Funny moments style video) (Would have been a lot better and longer but lost a lot of really good footage)#2 - (Was supposed to be similar to the first one but solo. What is in this video was only supposed to be the intro to the actual video) Channel Page ****************** https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7VO1yVf0nnFdadGrNqTRAA (Some opinions on what would make my channel art, logo, thumbnails, watermark, layout, etc more appealing would be appreciated) BRING ON THE (CONSTRUCTIVE) CRITICISM!
