      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

      Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
      Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
      If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
      As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
      Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
      Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
      Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
      Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
      Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here. 
        §10 Images in posts
      When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
      .gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
      Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
      Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
      Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
      It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
      There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
      Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
      Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
      Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
      If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
      You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. I recently got the game, and correct me if I am wrong, but I noticed that steam always allocates double the game size for updates, no matter the update size. For example, most recently there was a 32 MB hotfix released, and steam allocated another 60 GB to finish the update. The issue is that some people can't afford to have that much space used, since they may have small space SSDs or some such, leading to not being able to play the game if you, say, have only 50 GB free. There is no question in this post per se, just wanted to put this out there.
  2. HELP - monitor "turn off".

    Hey guys! All the time that I enter in Squad, the monitor "turn off". The screen turns black as it was shutted down but led indicator shows that it's powered on! When I press "Alt+TAB" monitor "turn on" and I can change software in back ground such web browser. Game version: SQUAD A-16.1.19.21948-4.21.2-SHIPPING
  3. as you may or may not know, the audio in-game is mufled from behind (and a little from the sides too) I am not sure how is happened, but I think is was an windows update that broke it I saw a thread on reddit, but I dont have an account there, at least one other person has the same problem as me before this windows update it was ok, but I hadnt played in a long time, and honestly I played little V15, because I am so dissapointed with this game, and waiting for V16 to drop to see how much worse the game is going to get but the problem wasnt there, so it was not a game update that broke it... then I decided to play a little recently because V16 was taking so long and I immediately noticed the problem when I hoped on a truck and looked to the side (could not hear the engine) then I thought it was my headphone that broke, so I swaped for 2 more, and the problem was still there finally I decided to change my audio drivers, but not luck and one thing I tried too was to try to tweak the windows sound options, and I got the sound to go a little louder, but with worse quality, so I reverted the change so it was not a game update, it was either a windows update or something else... you can test this like this: turn on a vehicle and stand in front of it, then turn 180 degrees and you will barely hear the engine you can also test with grenades, have them explode in front, then behind you I did a lot of testing, it seems to me that the audio is 100% ok from the front, a little muffled from the sides, and totally from behind I dont know what I should to to fix this problem, and I dont know if V16 still has this problem, I will download it when it drops today and report back my motherboard is a B350M-K (asus) everything is up to date, except a new version for the BIOS, ah and I also tried changing the NVIDIA drivers, and no luck
  4. Hey squaddies! The Canadian Armed Forces team has been hard at work since the Modding Weekend to incorporate your feedback, smash bugs, and make all sorts of tweaks! We’re happy to present those changes now, as well as provide an update on Alpha 16 and the OWI Company Holiday. CANADIAN ARMED FORCES UPDATE As mentioned, the CAF team has been hard at work polishing their release and are ready to roll out some of those changes! The update will release today, August 28, 2019, at 3 PM PDT. This is a separate update from Alpha 16, which we’ll touch on in just a minute. KITS AND LOADOUTS Added Arid (or Desert) Canadian faction. Added a second Medic role with C8A3+C79A2. LAT now receives two LAS instead of one. Changed HAT Kit to have 1 Tandem and 1 HEAT round. Added a second HAT Kit with 1 Tandem and 2 HE rounds. Added the proper C8A3 icon for the M203 Grenadier version. WEAPONS Reworked ballistics of C14 .338 round: The projectile arc is now flatter. Raised muzzle velocity. Increased one-hit kill range and damage over time. Updated C79A2 sights by making the base post smaller and adding the illuminated part. Streamlined ADS and weapon positions. Streamlined recoil on C7A2+C79A2. Increased ammo requirement for Carl Gustaf 751 Tandem to 80 instead of 60. Decreased ammo requirement for Carl Gustaf 441D HE to 30 instead of 60. Guns don’t drop on the floor when soldiers get incapacitated. Desert Canadian Forces don’t have their own ammo boxes yet. The Holosight Crosshair still reacts to resolution. Mouths on characters don’t move when Voicing. In some cases, a version mismatch may occur if a client updates before the server. Restarting the server should resolve the error. ALPHA 16 STATUS As some of the more observant of you noticed, we’ve been putting Alpha 16 through its paces through closed testing. While the results are encouraging, we feel the choppers aren’t quite there yet, so we’re planning to push the release back a little. First, choppers are fully flyable and can be used to transport troops and supplies. They come equipped with door guns for self-defense, a gimbal camera to aid in landing, and a functional cockpit to help you keep aloft. As mentioned, we’ve held full-scale internal testing recently and gathered a lot of feedback from the first folks outside of Offworld to take flight. While we’ve made some strides in getting performance improvements in place, especially for users with higher latency, the pilot experience still needs some work. In some rare cases, there are some crash bugs, plus some other quality-of-life improvements that need to be made before the patch is ready. As we’ve been striving to maintain the 4-6 week patch cadence, we wanted to be fully upfront about the delay. Our humble apologies, but we believe getting helicopters right is worth it. As we move forward, we’ll ask for your help in doing just that with periods of public testing. We hope you’ll share your feedback! Additionally, we want to ensure our modding community has better support and less downtime. With that in mind, releasing Alpha 16 too early would also cause a gap in SDK support. The hope is to have as little time possible between the patch and mod support for that patch being available, especially for communities using mods to host leagues and events. OWI COMPANY HOLIDAY Every year, the company takes a week off to get together, get to know everyone who’s joined us that year, hash out the next year (including planning the next trip), and recharge our batteries. It is, as you may have guessed, that time of year! From Monday, September 9th through Friday, September 13th (most) of Offworld Industries will be in Japan.   5. What's wrong with the updates?

    Hey guys, Anyone else having issues with the updates? I've been trying to update the public test (63.5mb) for about an hour now, doesn't seem like it will end soon. The filesize for the game changes constantly, I'm starting to think that it's re-downloading the whole game all over again.. Any chance we could get some info on this? I just wanted to hop in, but I can't even download an update.. btw, the game is installed on SSD.
  6. It's something I've been waiting for a looooong long time for, and we finally got a first look at it. The new Insurgent models, as the faction is going to get overhauled in terms of aesthetics. What do you think about the models? Personally I love them, only that they may be a little bit too well equipped. Generally in Syria and Iraq you see people in jeans and a ragged tshirt and some adidas football cleats, the only piece of military equipment being some old vietnamese rip-off chestrig. But they do look great indeed.

    Uninstalled. I'll be back after a few weeks, give them time to fix the update issues related to connecting etc. Spent more time on the load screen than playing. Estimates below 15% Chance of connecting to Server successfully 25% Chance of getting to In Game Load screen after connected to Server 35% Chance of Game time after passing In Game Load Screen 80% of Time waiting for above to pass successfully before Game Time I hope they learn from this when releasing an broken update and attempting a cash grab after a free weekend.

    Tag Leute, Mir ist aufgefallen das seit längerem der Rocket Technical nicht funktioniert, zuerst habe ich gedacht es liegt am Server, jedoch hat der Teci auch nicht auf dem Übungsgelände funktioniert. Man kann den Rocket pod steuern und ausrichten und sogar schiessen, jedoch fliegen die Raketen nicht und es gibt folglich auch keinen Impact, ich habe gehofft das der neuste Patch dies fixen würde, leider war dem nicht so. so oder so wollte ich euch nur schnell informieren und ich hoffe ich konnte helfen.     Ok, so with the new free-look feature coming to squad soon I wanted to explore an idea...track IR. Would it be possible to play the game with a track IR set up with the free-look feature and what do you all think! I think it's something to look into at least.
  10. Lag After Update

    Just after the Alpha 9.15 update I have experienced lag on several of the maps now. If I look at certain points in the game my fps drops significantly. I never experienced this before. Is anyone else experiencing this? Also, here are my specs. You can probably see I shouldn't be getting any lag. Oh and I have tried lowering the graphics. Nothing seems to work. Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5820K CPU MSI X99A SLI PLUS(MS-7885) Two AMD Radeon (TM) R9 390 Series in Crossfire 32 GB Corsair memory

  12. When im at the menu, the sound works.. and everywhere else on my computer, the sound works. But all the "in match" sounds does not, so when I join a lobby and load in, everything is dead quiet. Ive tried validating my files and ive triend turning the vol up ingame to over 100% Have anyone else had this problem?...
  13. Hi, So im about to update Squad to it's newest 9.4 version. But somehow, my steam always shows it as "Preallocating" on the download page, when im updating Squad. When i try to download Dota 2 update, it runs perfectly, i tried it (updating Dota) after i realise Squad Preallocating stuck. Anyone know how to fix this? EDIT: IT'S WORKING NOW!   16. Any news about V9.0??

    Hi, so i noticed the November Recap, where the Squad Devs is showing us about re-working on Animation Model, when walking, shooting, etc. Even new features like vaulting over the fence / walls, Placing Bipods, etc. These Monthly Recap really make me wanna see it to be implemented very very soon, which is at V9.0. Can you guys, Devs, tell us about it? The V9.0, when it release? Or, maybe tease us with some progressive report about what you guys doing right now, coz i can't wait (sorry for bad english) Thank you, Regards
  17. Yeah, it's nice that the server list will load server as they are recognized. But because the list will keep bouncing all over the place when new servers are added to the list, you still have to wait until every server has been found. At least give us an option to use the old way (the list will update only after every server has been found), and in the future just give us the ability to update the stats of the server you clicked once.

    I tried making ranks as intricate and realistic as I could, obviously there are going to be a lot of things that are wrong or people disagree with or would change on this but I thought I would put it out there to try and get y'all thinking about the structure of ranks and how that might work. Who knows maybe someone somewhere thinks it's a good idea.

  25. No tire walls, forced gaps between building sandbags and hescas/walls, and barbed wire that is virtually useless.... FoB's were not over powered. Especially playing as insurgency, isn't that the point to use rag tag items (tire walls, trash, barbed wires) to defend against the enemy forces? There is now no point in putting up a FoB other than a spawn point (Edit: Except for an ammo crate, maybe a 50. The rest is pointless) There might as well be nothing else in the building system. I enjoyed making FoB's and defending them against rockets and grenades. I also loved attacking dug in positions and that satisfying feeling after you've finally taken one out. Build points have been nerfed to a factor of -5x. A large portion of the game has been destroyed with V6 update.... =7Cav=SPC.Storm.C
