      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

      Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
      Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
      If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
      As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
      Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
      Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
      Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
      Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
      Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here. 
        §10 Images in posts
      When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
      .gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
      Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
      Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
      Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
      It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
      There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
      Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
      Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
      Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
      If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
      You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. Quick and simple thread: Back in PR we used to get messages pop up like "Team damage!" or "Team vehicle damage!" if we accidentally shot a team-mate or our team's vehicle. Also teamkills would scroll up the screen too for everyone to see, including the killer and the victim. Can we have this for Squad? As far as I know only the server admins get to see this info right now. With all the server warnings about "you will be banned if you TK" and "always apologise in chat if you accidentally TK" it would certainly clarify things as I don't see any current way to know if you've TK'd someone unless they accuse you! I had someone accuse me of TK'ing recently but I'm sure I didn't as my spawn timer was under 40 seconds right after I died. If you TK it's over a minute, right? Just hoping it's a quick feature to add and might help reduce accidental TKs and arguments on servers! (I play as medic a lot but "Hippocratic oath mode" might be a bit extreme)
  2. I've owned this game since the free weekend, and during my playtime across various servers I've occasionally tk'd dudes who were stuck in sandbags and such and asking to be tk'd. When I tried to play today on 303rd I received the message "intentional TK's=permaban" and was of course kicked. This happens for every server I try to join, I assume they are all hosted by bluefang solutions. Is there anyway I can appeal this? I love the game, I really hope I'm not perma'd from all servers because of noob mistakes Any help is appreciated!
  3. Couple of days ago, I decided to play Squad again after much time, I racked up 1000 hours so far. Seeing all kinds of people in this game / community. I joined FUBAR groups server with two of my friends from my unit. We spawn on main, the round just started and everybody is spawning there. I create a squad naming it in style "clan only", people join so I kick them out except 2 of my friends. I claim a technical for us, we go in to drive off main towards the objective and just as I am turning the engine on, we get shot in the back, so now we are bleeding. We exit the vehicle, we patch ourselves and we go in the vehicle again, and................ we get shot in the back again. Bleeding again...... At this point I am thinking to myself (as I am exiting and patching myself, again) am I stupid enough to play this bullshit with these kind of people, or these people who are there are just gaming ****wits on speed, who are there to ruin everything, in the end whats the point, why am I there, to be bullied by a system that allows it? So, I made sure I reload to have 1 extra bullet, and I started mowing down every single one of them in main ie. I teamkilled everyone that was in my field of view to protect myself and my squad so we can drive off and start playing normally. At that moment I got auto-kicked because of too much teamkills I believe. It was well worth it, got a huge weight of my heart after I done them... So .... My suggestion and an easy solution to this problem is: Make damage made to the friendlies come back at you. So if someone shoots at you, they do not deal damage to you but themselves. And this would only be active in main base. After you exit main base protective bubble, teamkill system work as they do now. There is a name for this but I don't know how its called, I have seen this kind of things in other games aswell, I hope this gets implemented in Squad. On top of this, I believe enough time passed from the steam release that we can finally have an option to lock our squad. Rain

  6. So here's an idea on how to deal with team killers. As per some Arma 3 servers, when you die during the game because of various User interface mods you can't just quickly tap ESC and respawn it's almost somewhat mandatory to wait for a revive. My Idea is that when a excessive amount of Team kills has taken place by one individual said individual is not kicked from the server and banned instead the Team killer is sent to do remedial duties on some far corner of the map, the only way the Team killer is able to escape is either by waiting for a 20 minute timer to count down, or complete the remedial duties set in front of him. This wouldn't be some general punishment, but the punishments they do undertake will instill a ethos of team work which hopefully corrects the defunct part of their brain. The remedial duties could include Blufor Painting coal: this means the Team killer can roam a small area of the map which is laden with hundreds of coal bits and when he approaches a coal piece they have to hold Q Select Paint Coal and select Paint Coal white. the positive reinforcement that could be used here is for every piece of coal painted is a 0.05% point to his team. Running laps: Again, two randomly generated waypoints at different distances and direction could appear, the offender has to run to each waypoint and its successor, whilst doing this text or a voice could pop up saying - ''congratulations, every mile you run you reduce the Digging time on a fortification for your team, keep up the good work'' Shit burning: The offender is placed in front of four latrines with barrels underneath, the offender has to approach each barrel and repeatedly click until a bar is filled up, this will simulate the stirring of the shit, once that is done it then starts to smoke, the offender needs to stir all the shit barrels and not let the smoke go out, or they have to restart the barrels. the more shit burnt the less sin bin times. Opfor: Suicide IED: Offender is respawned with nothing but a suicide belt on, he has 5 minutes to get at least one kill, if he succeeds he can rejoin his guys, if he fails he then has to.... Weapon maintenance: Offender has to approach 4/5 weapons and click repeatedly to satisfy his squads needs, should he fail the time regains 1 minute. Hot box: Offender is placed in a box with 1 hole to see out of release could come between 0:01 second at 19:59. Let me know what you think or better still, add your own punishment!!!! TL:DR - Punishments are issued to excessive and repeated team kills, offenders are placed in a section of the map to do hard labour which will improve certain squad abilities i.e Build objects quicker, Heal slightly faster. The offender has no choice but to do the duties and learn from his mistakes, wait out a 20 minute timer (can be changed by admin) or to ALT F4, should the offender ALT F4 said offender is banned from the server for ##Days. EDIT: Should the admin deem the team kill to be accidental they can 'FORCE RESPAWN' the offender and no punishment has to be undertaken. Further EDIT: To remove some jokes made so as to stop the pointless aggressive messages and PM's - Lighten up.
  7. Hi. This isn't a suggestion as the suggestion has been made (regarding a new scoreboard concept). This is a thread for the discussion of what a user or admin would find useful in a scoreboard. The pretext is that many players find the scoreboard to be a frustrating feature that gives unrealistic aid in identifying killed units and is a justification for a minority of players to try and appear on the top of a list. Furthermore, the end score of a person can be just irrelevent to what a person has contributed to the team (there are many examples of this). People have obviously they stated they would like to see the K/D or a score at the end of a round and before a round. So, now the 'Scoreboard' can become a place for practical information which could prove as a useful tool to admins and players alike. So, What Would You Like To See On The 'Scoreboard'? The thread isn't for discussing individual examples given (as some of them are very controvertial but have been mentioned in the suggestions forum), they are to generate feedback on what a scoreboard could actually be used for. Examples: Playerlist (obviously, possibly organised by Squad or Alphabetical or both means for functionality)Teamkills that each player has been punished for (admin use for banning)Microphone detection icon (to detect audio-input hardware, this is useful for admins (kick no mic), squad leaders (kick no mic, stop asking if mic and players)Idle Indicator someone is AFK for 10 minutes (for admin or auto kick)Squad Name next to player on scoreboardSquad Status next to player (Squad Leader tool: sets as: ATTack, DEFending, PATrol or ReGRouping)Ability to mute mic spammers in scoreboardAbility to votekick from scoreboardPlayername can be selected to produce additional information in form of tab/commo rose - see next bullet point for ellaborationSteam Contact Details (optional) Or Squad Forum Username or have a tab which displays this information when a player's name is selected (EG player's name is clicked, small tab/commo rose appears with options including, mute, votekick, copy STEAM username, copy SQUAD forum username and so on)Flag representing Geographical location (optional)Objectives capturedReputationNumber of times banned from servers or kicked (admin tool to recognise regular 'griefers', possible alternative to reputation system)PingClan/Community TagDefining Icon next to player representing special asset (possibly limited to Tanks/Air, similar to Squad drop down feature of map screen in PR but applied to scoreboard for quicker finding, could be useful for admin)What do you think would be useful on a 'scoreboard' for SQUAD?
