Forum Rules 07/06/2016Introduction The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party. Section I: Posting Rules §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users. §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with. §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time. §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics, etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal. §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest. §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs. §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense. §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
§9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
§10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge. §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings. §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed. Section II: Reporting & Moderation §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments. §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules. §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly. §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

I just got squad and get 30 to 40 fps at most as well as experiencing drops down to 10-15 fps frequently. This makes the game very difficult to play. Anybody have ideas as to why this is happening? Note that this is also on medium and low graphics, my pc should be able to do much better than this on 1080p (Also thermal throttling is not an issue) Any help is much appreciated. Thanks! A Pacifist posted a topic in Software SupportHey Guys, Like many people, I have had countless performance problems with AMD. Even after trying the workarounds, I still had countless problems. After hearing that the developers knew that it was a sound problem, I started experimenting with removing certain audio files. After hours of taking out single files all over the game, I think I finally found a fix. NOTE: This is kind of a last resort. I would suggest doing this only if you can't get good performance from other fixes. NOTE: If you would rather watch this in video format, I made a video here: Step One: Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Squad\Squad\Content\Audio Explanation: Here is one of the many location that files are stored for Unreal Engine 4. That is why they have the .uasset file extension. It this point you will want to make it so that the engine will not recognize certain files, thus not using them in the game. Step Two: Now you will want to take these files and rename them. Use the same name they have, and just add something to the end of the name. For me I would add Name. So, if a files was called "Audio", I would name it "Audio Name". Here is a picture showing the different files that you will want to add Name to. NOTE: None of the files originally had name in the title. Here is a image link: (It says my account can not upload picture, sorry for the inconvenience) https://www.dropbox.com/s/3pu8dj4eionehf3/Picture%20One.png?dl=0 After performing these changes, I have never had my framerates drop below 20. It is normally around 45, but 72 player servers with a lot of people drops it down. This is my build: AMD FX-8320 (Overclocked to 4.0GHZ) R9 270 8GB of DDR3 RAM. ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 (MOBO) After this, the game will sound pretty weird. Reload sounds can be heard a lot, and there are not footsteps, bullet shell sounds, etc. To me, however, it was worth it. If anyone is interested in what each files contains, I can make a list explaining what they each have. Hope this help! ~Calvin
I'd like to start a discussion about performance problems with the game. Problems that I feel are very important to be highlighted at this stage. Issues that I don't believe most Squad players are aware of. Please bear with me here. Or skip to short summary at bottom if you can't be bothered to read it all. We have been told that the main reason for poor performance in Squad is the animation system. I'm sure this is true and I'm very much looking forward to seeing the results of the new system the DEVS are working on. However, there are actually bigger performance issues at hand that I don't believe any one seems to be aware of. After spending the last month or so experimenting to ludicrous lengths, I've finally found a way to consistently reproduce the problem that I want to bring to everyone's attention... It seems that when viewing the map/level from a distance, the Frames Per Second can drop considerably. I first noticed this when I would jump onto a wall or high building, allowing me to see further into the distance on some maps, to find the FPS drop by a considerable chunk. I initially assumed it was all the other players and their animations being sent through the server and back yada yada yada, just as we've been told by the DEVS, but after playing around with the 'free-look camera', I realised this has nothing to do with the animation system, and the issue is far, far worse when elevating to a much higher altitude and looking down on the map. I found a drop in FPS by over half!!!! If I may, I'd like to share with you a video I made, demonstrating the problem. - What I did was start a single player game, or 'training mode', and manually change the map to Chora (which is by far the worst for this issue). This eliminated any possible animation-based performance drop as no one else was present on the map with me. FPS was super high as I have a very powerful machine. Then I elevated the camera up high and looked down to view the whole map below to find the the FPS come tumbling down to way below 30fps. The bigger concern was that despite lowering the graphics settings to the absolute bare minimum, the FPS hardly increased at all. The real problem with this is the idea of using airborne vehicles like helicopters - it's going to hinder the pilot with very low FPS. I can only imagine how bad it would be for someone who doesn't have a super-fast Intel CPU with an over-clock like I have. (THIS IS NOT A GPU PROBLEM, AS YOU'LL NOTICE IN THE VIDEO THE GPU USAGE IS EXTREMELY LOW DESPITE THE LOW FPS). I'm aware that some CPU optimisation is due, but are we really going to see an increase of 30FPS+ ??? Because that is what it's going to take to satisfy most players such as myself who absolutely need 60FPS as a bare minimum. (First world problems, I know!) I hate it when people casually ask the DEVS to just 'chime in' as if they don't have anything better to do, but in this particular case, I think we could all benefit from hearing from someone involved with developing the game, or even just the maps and their assets. Is this issue going to be sorted? Can we expect enough optimisation to clean up the problem? I'm sure the DEVS are already well aware of this as they must be zipping up and down the map in 3D space as they're designing the level. Surely??? SHORTER SUMMARY: When looking down the map from higher up, or even down the map from a slightly higher perspective than the ground, FPS can tank considerably, despite no one else playing on the server / game (which eliminates the possibility for the animation system to be the culprit.) Any help or feedback on this issue from anyone would be hugely appreciated, as right now, I'm very worried this is going to totally destroy the life of this game for a large majority of us. Edit - 3700K @ 4.4Ghz. !
TzeAzzazino posted a topic in QuestionsI don't really know how to explain this correctly but every time I get engaged with someone at long range I just can't seem to put my ironsights or crosshair on my scope exactly on them. it's like the game doesn't react properly to my mouse movement. it's always whenever i move my mouse 1 pixel to the right i am missing the target just a little bit to the right and when i move my mouse 1 pixel to the left i will be missing the target too far to the left of it. I never had this problem with games like Project Reality. If someone could please explain to me why it currently is as it is i would be really thankful
Hi there! I already searched the forum to find a solution. But couldn't find one. My rig isn't the best... Phenom X4 955 Radeon 7850 8gb Ram But I can play the training with good FPS on low and only get FPS drops when I am walking through the smokes. When I try to play a match online, I get stuttering or freezing issues. Feels like I have a lag and my ping gets really high. I had a ping of around 60 and when my game begins to lag, it feels like a huge lag, my ping gets higher and higher sometimes up to 800. I think its a problem with my network? Do I have to open ports? Does someone have the same problem? And which ports should I open? There are no FPS problems or ping problems when I am not moving. Would be great if someone can help :) cheers!
