      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

      Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
      Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof) etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
      If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
      As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
      Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
      Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
      Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
      Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
      Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here. 
        §10 Images in posts
      When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
      .gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
      Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
      Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
      Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
      It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   Section II: Forum Signatures   §1 Signature Dimensions
      To avoid clutter, please make sure your signature (if you choose to have one) does not exceed the following size limit: 350x150 pixels. Your signature may consist of images, user bars and text elements, as long as the total size does not exceed 550 x 200 pixels. A small tolerance will be given, but any signature larger than the limit may at any time be deleted without prior warning. If you are not sure whether your signature is acceptable, please PM a moderator.   §2 Signature Content
      All rules of section 1 fully apply to your signature. We will remove signatures or parts of signatures without notice if they violate the forum rules, and infractions may be given.   §3 Animated Signatures
      Please refrain from using animated .gifs as signatures, they distract and clutter the forum.   Section III: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
      There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
      Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
      Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
      Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
      If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
      You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. As discussed here I figured I would post this in the proper forum along with some other info. It would be nice if in general server admins had more say on how exactly they want to run their games. Below are some options that would be useful for certain kinds of gameplay scenarios that give servers more flexibility in gameplay style (suggested default in bold). It would be also nice to set this per team or universally. Friendly tags: on/off Flag capture rate: 25/50/75/100/150/200% Flag radius: 50/75/100/150/200/250% Main base protection radius: 50/75/100/150/200/250% Automatic kick after TK: 3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10/off Automatic kick after TK in main base: 1/2/3/off Automatic kick after friendly vehicle destruction: 1/2/3/4/5/6/off Vehicles: on/off APCs/IFVs: on/off Transports: on/off HMMVV/Technical/BRDM: on/off Logistics Trucks: on/off etc, etc. (could also be done per vehicle type instead of categories) Squad vehicle claiming Must have 2 players to claim vehicle: true/false Squad vehicle limit: 0/1/2/3/4/any Number of squad members per squad vehicle claim: 4/3/2/none Vehicle timeout: none/3/5/10/15 minutes Transports/Logistics trucks require two people to claim: true/false Can place FOBs: on/off HAB: on/off Sandbags/HESCOs: on/off Static weapons: on/off Razorwire: on/off etc, etc. Can place Rallypoints: on/off Ticket count: 25/50/75/100/150/200% Kit counts (per squad) Medics: 0/1/2 Rifleman optics: 0/1/2/3/4/any Anti-Tank: 0/1/2/3/4 Automatic Rifleman: 0/1/2/3/4 Grenadier: 0/1/2/3/4 Marksman: 0/1/2/3 Marksmen per team: 0/1/2/3/4/5/6 Heavy Anti-Tank: 0/1/2 Heavy Anti-Tank per team: 0/1/2/3/4/5/6 etc, etc. Kit contents Medic number of bandages: 2/3/4/5/6/8/10/20 Rifleman bandages: 0/1/2/3/4 Frag grenades: 0/1/2/3/4 White smoke grenades: 0/1/2/3/4 Colored smoke grenades (ea.): 0/1/2/3 Rifle magazines: -4/-3/-2/-1/0/+1/+2/+3/+4 (this isn't great, but per kit would make the UI huge) Anti-tank rounds: -1/0/+1 Pistols: on/off Pistol magazines: -1/0/+1/+2 Some benefits: More customized gameplay for people that like certain gameplay styles. More options for servers that host events (a la SquadOps) More options for servers that have more or fewer administrators regularly online. Temporary solutions to balance problems (OP weapons/vehicles) by allowing servers to limit or remove them until fixed. I would also be necessary to allow players to view these options before joining and during the match so they know what kind of server they are joining. If we want to keep the licensed/unlicensed server concept then parameters would have to be fixed or within a set range to qualify the server as licensed.

Here is a short installation manual for experienced linux users. A more detailed manual will be added later by @Nordic The Squad Wiki will be also updated briefly. Precondition: SteamCMD needs to be installed on your machine - see https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD 1. create a folder for your squad server - e.g. "SquadServer" 2. open a terminal and change to your SteamCMD folder 3. create a text file and name it for e.g. "UpdateSquadServer.sh". Make the file executable chmod +x UpdateSquadServer.sh 4. open the file and add the command line for installing/updating your server. If this is the case, make sure "glibc 2.17" or higher and "GLIBCXX_3.4.15 " or higher are installed on your system. Have Fun

  5. Hey guys, I have searched the forums and there is no answer that I can find. I want to start a server locally on my machine and host it with clan members for purposes of training. Meaning not a public permeant server but a local training server for a short period of time. In PR there is a way to do so through IP, and since the idea is not to open a permeant server I find it a bit ridicules to rent a server for a few hours. Is there any way to do so like there is in PR? Cheers and sorry the question has been asked already I find it hard to find any topic discussing that.

  8. Hello comrades. Today, my friends and I ran into disgusting racism on the part of administrators of some servers. When we join and name our squad like a RUS INFANTRY we were immediately kick out from server. For why? We can speak english and communicate with other soldiers in game SQUAD. We do not broke rules server. We older JO:TR (Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising) players and yes, we known russian language and some teammates lives in europe countrys. Why some admins use rasism stereotypes for players from other countrys? IF admins don't like russian players, add some rule in server rules. It's was very sad. P.S. We was kick out for nation rasism from two servers.

The last time I will slowly get sad again, the game what was so cool with the NearVoice, Squad Chat and SquadLeader chat slowly gets the problem of Teamspeak to feel, as well as of people the Squad with COD confuse. I come as Medic an People Respawn. All the Time, they die, i will bandage and respawn... SquadLeaders simply do not talk, whole squads refuse squadleader communication and do what they want. I do not know where it comes from all of a sudden, but I notice it clearly now. I have no exact idea how to avoid this, but maybe the brilliant team of Squad has an idea how to remind the people that we are not with COD and these VoiceChat functions are not for no reason. Russia spawn on German or English Server and only speak Russia. i love the game, but it is a little bit sad Maybe even a microphone patch with check to be squadleader? The Squaleaders are the Important Roles. When this guys dont speak and the squad do what he want , the other squads get even though they then communicate ticket problems and many more problems Please do not blame me for this post, it should only provide information to keep the game at the level where it actually belongs.   11. Our clan currently runs three servers, and we have generated a couple of questions: 1.) Is there a way to set a server password in the config files? We have looked, but we cannot find an obvious way. At the moment, we have to log into the server and set a password after every restart. 2.) Should the AdminChangeMap command not work with just the 'changemap' permissions? We had to grant users access to the 'pause' permissions in order for them to change maps. It seems that the AdminEndMatch command is covered by the 'pause' permission, and attempts to change maps do not work if you cannot access this command, too. Any help is appreciated!
  12. Hi! It's always difficult to join a server even if the ping is low. Also, when I switch from server browser to custom server browser and back to server browser again, It won't load the list of servers even if I refresh the list over and over. Please help. Thank you!

  14. Sometimes, maybe 1 in 10, I join a server and I see all of the players on the map for a second. This includes the enemy team, which shows up as red and I can see the squad leaders and everything just like the blue markers but in red. I don't know if it's just me, and I don't use the intel, but other people might and it's not a nice bug to have lingering around.
  15. Hey guys - I'm wrapping up on a trailer for Squad v8, it's a fan-made trailer. I've managed to capture an immense amount of footage in-game using bino's and on foot, but I've just been alerted to something called the 'admin' cam available to server administrators. Couple questions - are admins capable of transferring admin power / making another member of the server an admin - and if so, would the second admin also have access to an 'admin' cam? It's practically perfect for what I'm looking for in-game footage-wise, the ability to get aerial shots of some of the vehicles leaving base for example, or a battlescene overhead would be phenomenal.Second question then, is there an admin out there willing to allow me onto their server as a film/movie maker? I'm not sure what I can offer in terms of compensation outside of credits in the film when it goes to it's respective social media outlets (youtube, vimeo, etc.) But if it's a possibility, please let me know! I would be forever grateful. It's not something that would necessarily need to be ongoing either - I wouldn't expect to keep the status after I was finished filming for example. Thanks in advance, a personal message or reply works fine here - I really am hoping someone can help me out! Cheers.

So I've been having this problem of joining each and every server for the past month, no matter how full or empty a server is, it always kicks me out upon loading and says "Server has closed connection". Today I found out that the cause of it all, are the Steam Inventory items being checked. I disabled all of them and problem solved. Is anyone else having the same issue?

I'm trying to get the Squad server running as per the instructions here: http://squad.gamepedia.com/Server_Configuration I tried to get it working on Windows 7.1 Ultimate x64, which is the install I run the game itself and Steam on. It seemed to work, but threw a few warnings, not sure if any of them are fatal. I wasn't able to connect to my server from the game though. I set a launch parameter of +connect, and there were no errors, it simply went to main menu. I know it's not supposed to work while Steam is running, but I was hoping to get the server running and then launch the game to see if I could connect. I then tried running it on Win 7 x64, Win 7.1 x64, and Windows Server 2012 R2 in a Virtual Box VM. On 7 and 7.1 I couldn't even start the server because of redistributal problems. On Windows Server I had "couldn't connect to steam" warnings. Should the Squad server package run under any of these situations? I'm not sure if I'm using the right operating systems or if it should work on a VM, or if I also need some version of Steam installed on the OS I run it on, so I'm not sure in which direction to persevere. Anybody?
  19. Hello everyone, My name is Pedro, from Portugal. Just bought the game today... Went to the Firing Range, tested the game, all is well FPS wise, and playability Closed the game, rejoined ... I go to Server browser to join a server... I have low ping, go inside ... and I only get a flash, and I get "kicked" I guess ... afterwards I have a Server closed connection message. This happens in all servers, high ping, low ping, almost full and empty servers .. Any help please ?

  24. So i had an idea, not sure if its a good idea so i will ask here. I play Squad on a low spec machine. Some maps run good, some not so good. Would it be a good idea to have a server that rotates the maps that run the best and perhaps limit player limit to 50 or so. Although i don't seem to run into any trouble with 60+player servers and frame rate. The idea would be so that players like me can sit and play for a while without having to change server to get on a map that runs well. I know the game is still being optimised and I was surprised with the latest update, or how after simply formatting my computer, i went from 20fps to 30+ fps. It would be good for me, and others i assume to have a server set up for us low end pc gamers, Is this a stupid idea or not? Have a server designed for people on mid range/low end pc. If it helps anyone else who might be struggling, try formatting your computer, i was exited at how much difference it made. My pc must have been pretty messed up. Specs: CPU i7 4510u ( Haswell 2000 - 3100 MHz 22nm) Level 1 Cache 128 KB Level 2 Cache 512 KB Level 3 Cache 4096 KB 2 Cores 4 Threads GPU Nvidia 840m, 2gb DDr3, 28 nm mid-range DirectX 12 384 shader cores @1029MHZ 8Gb DDR3 System RAM Try setting in Nvidia Control Panel. Physx - use CPU, seemed to give me way better performance than using the Nvidia GPU for the Physx. Graphics Settings: Medium/High, 1280x768 gives me25- 32FPS on Kohat, 40- on Logar, 40+ on Sumari ,40- First Light. I am surprised that it runs even this well when 60 players are on.   25. Hey guys, before I begin I just want to say that I did use the search function and didn't find anything that pertained to my question. Anyways, I was curious as to what the procedure (or possibility) is for hosting a dedicated server from my own IP, or even on the same system that I am playing the game from. I've seen the guide that uses SteamCMD, I just want to know how you connect that to your local IP/port and have it show up in the server browser. Thanks for any info.
