Forum Rules 07/06/2016Introduction The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party. Section I: Posting Rules §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users. §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with. §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time. §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics, etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal. §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest. §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs. §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense. §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
§9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
§10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge. §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings. §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed. Section II: Reporting & Moderation §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments. §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules. §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly. §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

Just watched this vid explaining netcode for the lay person. Pretty interesting. Just wanted to know if this is anything that Squad is doing or thinking of doing? We now have performance gains with 9.9 from unseen animations and detail at range so why not dynamic tick rates. May help us get to 100 players.
Not_Tactical posted a topic in Software SupportSo I got Squad yesterday and started playing it but I've noticed some really unusual framerate problems that I didn't experience on the free weekend. Several maps ran great. Kokan and all the other afghan themed maps, not to mention the forested map (with the "Castle" objective) ran great, but with some slight stuttering and framerate drops when I looked around too quickly. However a lot of maps, almost all of the eastern European maps, run like ass. And I mean some seriously confusing turbo ass. Like 2 FPS ass. And this always occurs when I move my character's head around, so it seems to have something to do with loading new assets. I tried rolling back my 3D card driver and turned off SLi, but no beans. For reference my hardware stats are... Windows 8.1 Intel i5-4690k @ 3.5 GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 cores 2 GeForce 970s on SLi 16 gigs of ram Is anyone else experiencing this? Am I alone? Why did this start now? Should I just wait for the next update?
Hi, I just recently bought squad on steam during the summer sale. However, I notice there are no African servers and the lowest ping I can get is about 250. I am writing on the forum to ask for any info regarding this issue. I come from South Africa and I would like to know if the ping will affect my gameplay and if there is any plan for the future, to release at least one SA(South African) server or African server? I know for a fact that there is quite a big squad community in SA that would highly appreciate a server and low ping. Would anyone with information regarding this issue please post a response. It would be most appreciated.
I've been playing Squad for a while now. While the performance was great when I started, over the last couple of months I've been getting extremely high pings to some of the servers I used to play on frequently without problems. Checking with other players, they aren't experiencing the problems I've had. I've done a lot of searching online for a fix and haven't seen any solutions that have worked for me so hopefully someone can give me some pointers. I live in the UK and I have fibre internet so I should be able to connect to a UK/EU server without any problems. Right now though, servers like RIP/QFF/Yellow Ants are showing as around 1000ms ping in the server browser and that is pretty much constant for me over the last couple of months. When I connect to the servers, my ping is solidly 300ms+. I also know from experience that even when I connect to other servers with lower pings in the server browser (e.g. ~70ms), I get a ping solidly over 300 in game. A lot of queries on these (and other) forums have responses saying the ping numbers aren't accurate but I'm definitely having latency issues. I haven't been able to play for a while now without constant rubber banding and teleporting around and it's made it very frustrating/nearly impossible to play. It feels like I'm connecting to an Asian server with a dialup modem! To answer an obvious question, this is only a problem in squad and none of the other games I play. I also only have the one device on this network so it's not anyone else gobbling up the bandwidth. I tried pinging a couple of those servers in windows and got average times around 12ms so I'm really confused about what's causing the problem. I'm not an expert on traceroutes but I'm lead to believe that this one (I've used the RIP server as an example) also looks fairly normal (I don't know exactly how to interpret the timeouts but apparently that's common): Tracing route to ip184.ip-213-32-112.eu [18.104.22.168] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms dsldevice.lan [192.168.1.254] 2 * * * Request timed out. 3 * * * Request timed out. 4 10 ms 10 ms 9 ms be3-3100.pcn-ir01.plus.net [22.214.171.124] 5 10 ms 10 ms 10 ms core1-BE1.colindale.ukcore.bt.net [126.96.36.199] 6 9 ms 9 ms 9 ms 188.8.131.52 7 * * * Request timed out. 8 13 ms 12 ms 12 ms be10-151.rbx-g1-a9.fr.eu [184.108.40.206] 9 * * * Request timed out. 10 * * * Request timed out. 11 12 ms 13 ms 12 ms ip184.ip-213-32-112.eu [220.127.116.11] I've tried opening ports on my router without that making any difference (it would help to get confirmation of exactly what ports are required as I've seen different things stated in different places). I've also tried a full re-install, even onto another drive, without any success. I've tried changing graphics settings but I get pretty good hardware performance on max settings so I wasn't surprised that made no difference. In case it's relevant, my specs are i7-6800k, GTX1070, 16GB RAM. I've completely run out of ideas so I'm desperate for someone to help me out. Thanks!
I live in Thailand and I do understand that i am far from all the servers but isnt their any servers nearby. I get 250 ping minimum even in china servers is their a way too reduce my ping either from US, ASIA, EU I just bought the game and I love it but I am kinda upset that I get lag from high ping
Hey guys. I'm new and I want to play this game so bad. I watch hours of training videos about this game. I just want to know, I as a foreigner who live in Malaysia (south East Asia), do I have any chance to play this game in a server that everyone speaks English? Or I need to play in US or AUS servers? My ping to US servers in Battlefield 1 is 170 to 250 and for AUS is 150. I love to play this game, but I want to play with people who I can communicate with. What if I buy this game and all the servers be empty? what if all players be Chinese speakers? I really want to support the devs, but I'm not sure what to do.
Ever since the last alpha version release, I saw an increase of latency for all players on all servers. I mean, I used to have like 50 ms on UK servers, but now I have 100. And it's not just me. On average, everybody has a higher ping. I doubt I'm the first one who noticed this. Edit: found similar topic, known "issue"
Hey all, I've been playing squad for a little over two months now and I absolutely love it, but I've only been able to play once since the vehicle update. My fears were realized in that people would flock to the game once vehicles were added and servers would be all filled up. Now all of the servers near me are either empty or completely full. That leaves me to join servers with crazy high ping and different languages than my own. And I'm not going to join a server/clan because I've heard too much negativity about them and I don't wish to pay to be in one. So my question is, will Squad add their own servers and a lot more of them and that?
Think you guys doing a sterling job just would like to see improvement in the server browser. Filter + Favorites with Ping. Maybe server details. Know this isn't game breaking or play related. Any chance this being done outside of a major update. Small hot fix perhaps as now steam propagated.
Hi there, finaly the Pre Alpha is starting - was so exiting last day and then ... pure frustration. I am living in Spain and when opening the serverbrowser - i start to cry. Why in Hells name is my best Ping (ireland) about 350ms??? And in General between 350 and 600+? Unplayable for a FPS and Hell for my opponents - its like playing BF4 with Servertickrate off 20.In EVERY OTHER GAME i have pings under 100ms - in whole Europe.I am playing Ark on a privte Server in Germany - my Ping is about 50, i am in the open Beta of WoWS - Ping about 80. I am a good Driver in Trackmania - Server in Germany - ping about 50ms.So what is wrong with your Servers? It feels like you named the Server Ireland but the locations seems to be US/Canada.BTW. My InternetProvider is in the TopTen Worldwide - that cant be the issue:to irelandConnected and checked the Ping - goes down to 100-150 - not realy perfect but playable .. Thx for pointing me @ Melbo Another thing is this Event "Ranger" Weekend - why when only ~70 Rangerpackages was selled - servers are empty ... this is also disapointing. You should have open this weekend for all Backers! And to all the Players that call "Alpha/beta" - this is about Networking (Ping) and making good decisions (Rangerweekend for only 70 Rangers/server are empty) - not about coding or gamedesign. p.s. German Friend has also high Pings.
Hi Guys I would just like to know if any one can tell me what the Maximum playing Ping would be. I live in South Africa and I play Project reality with 220-290 Ping, for me its not a problem as I play support roles which does not require a high ping at all (My opinion), Medic mostly If the Devs can allow high latency like that it would be awesome.
