      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof) etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
        §10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   Section II: Forum Signatures   §1 Signature Dimensions
To avoid clutter, please make sure your signature (if you choose to have one) does not exceed the following size limit: 350x150 pixels. Your signature may consist of images, user bars and text elements, as long as the total size does not exceed 550 x 200 pixels. A small tolerance will be given, but any signature larger than the limit may at any time be deleted without prior warning. If you are not sure whether your signature is acceptable, please PM a moderator.   §2 Signature Content
All rules of section 1 fully apply to your signature. We will remove signatures or parts of signatures without notice if they violate the forum rules, and infractions may be given.   §3 Animated Signatures
Please refrain from using animated .gifs as signatures, they distract and clutter the forum.   Section III: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  3. Hey guys! I just recently downloaded and HIGHLY interested in playing with some people to help me get acustomed to the game so I can pull my weight. I'm pretty up to date on most things about squad. I'm currently serving so that should be a plus, I'm a medic in the Army, 68W. So just let me know if anyone is trying to help play? LOL Thanks
  4. Hey all. This is Nighthauk. I've been playing Squad for about a month now and really enjoy it. I usually play on the Tactical Gamer server. I try to get on as often as possible but lately it seems that is only on the weekends. I've tried my hand at squad leader and have some pretty good strategies but have found that it mostly revolves around if the squad listens and does the commands set in place. My best game was when I was playing a medic and supported 3 different squads inside of a FOB. I was the only medic for all 3 squads. I ended up scoring an 880 on that game. So far its the highest score that I've seen. I know that medic is an easy role to play but a lot of players still don't play it correctly. See I was a combat medic for the ARMY for 5 years and was also in military intelligence for 3 years to total 8 years active military. I also did some time with JSOC (Joint Special Ops Command). This game is great and am looking forward to the devs adding tanks and aircraft. That will change everything in the game. I also stream my gameplay on Twitch. My channel is Nighthauk4. Please come by and check it out. Maybe you were in my squad and can see what we did great or did wrong. Alright, I'll see everyone in game.

  7. Hey guys! Im Nightmare (edgy am i right?) and I started playing squad during the free weekend and loved it so i picked it up. I instantly fell in love! The sounds, the experiences, the way it made me feel like i was actually in a battlezone. I loved it all. As a former Arma player I really love the way you guys are doing things and squad has a special place in my heart now (Sorry Arma. You've been replaced) Anywho, I really am excited to see how this community is instead of all these f2p trolls messing around. Message to the devs: When are we getting air vehicles? <3
  8. So i just picked up squad today, and because i'm still a newbie, i got into the training course thingy. I tested out some stuff and i understand the game, so i went for an online server. I live in Indonesia and the squad servers that were available had 100 ping at it's lowest. I connected to one, and it went to the loading screen. First attempt to connect to server, i got to choose spawn point menu, then i clicked enter but after a few seconds itt went back to loading screen. I didn't know what to do and had waited too long, so i forced restart my computer. Second try i did it and this time it just stayed in the loading screen, didn't even get to the spawn point menu. Then i tried it for 5 times over and over and restarted my computer 5 times too but nothing worked Anyone have a solution?
  9. 20r Gaming Community Public Squads Thursday 10/11 EU evening To celebrate the start of the Free Weekend, and the influx of new players to the Squad Community, 20r is organising a 'Public Squads' event on their server. On that evening, 20r members will engage themselves to set up squads open to new players, and people looking for a teamwork experience. Those squad leaders will be open to all questions from players, give tips and advice about gameplay, and in general try to give people an impression of what Squad has to offer when people play as a team. Everyone is welcome to join us on our server, be it as a new player that wants to learn, or as an experienced player that wants to help out by creating good gameplay that will leave a good impression on newcomers. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. See you there!
  10. Hello. Im new to modding squad, but i'm not new to making textures for games. I just can't figure out how to edit the textures in Squad though. How can I edit the textures of models and make my own factions?
  11. Still learning a lot of the maps but having a blast in doing so..thought I'd share some of the intense firefights encountered so far. If you enjoy the action please like, and subscribe. I look forward to sharing new Squad gameplay with you in the future.
  12. Hi, I'm new to this game and modding in general as well. Being that this game is using Unreal Engine 4 and got a board dedicated to modding I figured the game would be rather friend when it comes to modding. Spent a day making a little more tacticool pistol, and was hoping there was a way to switch the assets https://sketchfab.com/models/75f910f1346247179627c2ae54aa9978 https://imgur.com/134OfYP
  13. Hello to all you fellow squadmates. I've just started this game and I love it. I've become a very fast learner and have already got a handle on what it takes to be a good medic. I love the depth this game already shows despite how early in development it is. I've played in about 10-12 matches in the 2 days I've owned this game and am hooked. I hope to see a lot of you guys out on the battle grounds and maybe even be your squads medic if I'm lucky.
  14. Hello guys, We're the Italian Warfare clan, =ITW= for short, as the name suggests we're an italian speaking clan who mainly plays the Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2, usually as an infantry squad. We embrace the spirit of PR and its strong requirement for teamwork and tactics needed in order to win the match. We strongly believe that Squad is going to be next step in the path that PR had set us upon, therefore we want to be there since the very beginning, to build up a community like the one Project Reality has. While we mainly speak italian in our Teamspeak, most of us can also speak and understand english. We're looking forward to play and have fun with Squad's community. If you want to get in touch with us you can join our Teamspeak server or contact us on our forums See you on the battlefield! Ci vediamo in gioco!

  17. Hi, I am new to squad and am enjoying the game a lot, unfortunately some of the squads I've been in still have the lone wolf mentality. I am looking for an aussie clan or group who play, I'm in Brisbane. I can dedicate a minimum of 4hrs to a maximum of 30hrs a week.

  19. Hello, so after some browsing and review checking, I found that this game has positive reviews and decided to give it a go and bought it. It has been about a year since my last FPS game I played and wanted to ask the public for some tips (Although it's been a year, I am not completely new to shooter games). 1). What are some basic overall tips to this game? (Other than communicating with your teammates) 2). How do I make myself welcome to a squad I join? (I'm the first out of my friends to get this, so I expect myself to be with strangers) 3). How should I deal with the so called "jerks" squad leaders/member? (ie. Calls you names when you don't know what to do) 4). What kind of "contribution" is expected of a player when in game? 5). Any additional tips/comments. Lastly, since this type of FPS style game is sort of "new" (I haven't played Arma or games similar to it), just expect me to be confused and unaware of my surrounding if you see me in game. Anyways, Happy New Years!
  20. So I was thinking about treating myself to a new GPU this Christmas and have my eye on a couple but cant decide which would be best to get Here are the options: - Asus GTX970 Strix or - Radeon R9-290 My current specs are a Radeon HD7750 GPU, FX-6300 Phenom CPU, 8GB RAM I'm aware that the 970 runs cooler and is less demanding on the PSU (around 400 watts I think) which is good because I only currently have a 550 watt PSU. From what iv'e heard Unreal 4 doesn't support AMD hardware particularly well which is probably why I get s**t performance at the moment and as a result is why I'm thinking of getting an Nvidia card this time around, but I'm wondering if compatibility will be an issue, although from what iv'e seen that shouldn't be the case. So thoughts gentlemen?

  22. Hello everyone! This is SignorMagnifico reporting for duty. I have been around since Project Reality 0.95, and I've been playing off and on since then. I really like the teamwork and camaraderie that this game formula brings out in people, and I'm looking forward to seeing Squad's take on this genre. It excites me to know that many of these devs were involved in building the Project Reality that many people came to know and love. I just bought the Squad Leader package, and I look forward to seeing all of you on the battlefield. Before I jump in for my first round, and since I am new to the forums, I just have one question. Is it too late to hope for fastropes? :P Signing out, SignorMagnifico
  23. I already posted this up before but it was in a thread about the August updates and such but decide to create its own thread so we could all discuss this idea or others. I already got a reply from "Motherdear" which can be found here: http://forums.joinsquad.com/topic/4233-august-2015-pax-prime-report/?p=74463 But i would like it if we the community could discuss or come up with an idea or 2 for some new FOB mechanics. "Firebase spawning now stops when more than 1 enemy soldier is in cap radius or the FOB is 75% captured. Clear out the FOB of enemies and spawning will resume" I personally believe that this needs to be changed to atleast 3 enemy soldiers OR if it was to stay at 2 or more enemy players then change the FOB mechanic to something like this. I know people will say well dont build you fob on a flag (its only the for example) and such and most dont but at the same time you could just have 2 guys on the VERY edge laying in a bush capping it, if it was set up like this then it would atleast allow for the team to defend their fob without them being on it already. At the moment you'll see alot of FOBs being built with structures around them to block off that compound and ladders being built to leave it. Yet outside of this compound you still have to run abit of a distance till you leave the FOB zone. Now you could say that people should be smart and build structures on the edge of the zone and such but i personally think why should you have to build right on the very edge on something to defend it. If you use the example below youll see the red and blue circle, red is the building radius like how it is now but the blue is the capping radius. If it was created like this then building a fob within a structure of blocking access to a FOB would allow better defense as the enemy side would have to breach your building radius before they even started capping. So if they were to start capping then you could only blame lack of defense or not building far enough from the FOB cap zone. how this could work for Squad leaders is when a FOB is placed in the top left it starts of one colour (cap) and when you leave the capping zone it changes to a different colour so you know you should build this far out so they cant get into / onto the FOB. Im not saying you cant build in the cap zone, i think you should be able to build where ever you please within the FOB radius but a smart tactic would be to build outside of the cap radius allowing better defense. I know the whole building FOBs will change when you need to actually bring the supplies in but even then i feel that this idea could work but may need to be expanded on a little better. (Hopefully this makes abit of sense) Looking forward to hearing ideas and such as all this is an IDEA! -
