      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

      Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
      Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
      If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
      As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
      Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
      Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
      Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
      Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
      Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here. 
        §10 Images in posts
      When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
      .gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
      Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
      Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
      Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
      It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
      There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
      Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
      Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
      Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
      If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
      You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. Guys, I decided to get the steam controller so I can use that in my left hand and a mouse in my right hand… I've been watching YouTube videos (No I in Squad layout etc) and I am stumbling trying to get it the way I need it… My goal is to get as many of the core commands on the left side of the controller as possible, but I'm lost... I also want to be able to have Sprint mapped to the full forward on the left stick, and I just can't get it going. If anybody could help me sort it out on the phone, I'd be happy to compensate them for their time.
  2. [Solved] Mouse Bug

    Hey, Just downloaded the game and I cannot move my mouse to the far bottom or right of my screen. It is stuck. I cannot apply any settings and have to close it which crashes me. Any ideas of what to do?

  4. Mouse freezing in-game

    Hello. lately I started to experience problems with the mouse freezing. It happened lately, just yesterday (played for few months already) I'm experiencing this only in squad, and only in-game (when on the main menu Its working fine) also, I noticed its not the game freezing but just the mouse (keyboard movement works.. world still moving) Sometimes the freezing happen once per minute (considering it rare) and sometimes every few seconds. I wouldn't say its the mouse (hardware) because I experience this problem just lately and it is still, just in squad. Thanks in advance to anybody who can help Post script: I have experienced such problems before, once when played Titan Fall 2, there this problem started on day-1 very quickly, while in Squad I just started to experience this problem lately.   5. Please, please, PLEASE make mouse sensitivity for aiming down sights and mouse sensitivity for just looking around separate. Currently I can either set it higher to be able to turn better but aim for shit at range, or set it lower to be able to aim better but have to swipe my mouse all the way across my desk to turn around.
  6. When opening the menu, immediatley the mouse is visible in one place only. When I move out of that place it becomes invisble and doesn't work to click on anything. Please help!

I tried to play this game again (backed this a long time ago) and realised again what stopped me doing basically anything before as I got frustrated and left (figured Alpha I'll come back later - a year later and its the same?). I instantly still hit an issue I had previously - the main menus and any UI element as far as I can tell have the hover and click stat miss align from the graphic element. For example along the top of the screen I have the main menu items If I put my mouse over those nothing happens and click does nothing - but I noticed as I travelled up to the menu the hover state did activate. So moving the move immediately below each item I was able to see the hover state change and click to activate it. This is confusing but the targets are large enough that I basically 'automatically' coped with that with out noticing too much. I then when to join an empty server to just 'mess about' (who needs training or manuals right?) but I could not figure out how on the map to pick a 'spawn' point. There was a key around the map showing flags an vehicles etc .. but where do I actually spawn? As there were no other players (i think I can spawn on players?) I could not figure it out and clicked on everything ... after about 5 minutes (I didn't want to be beaten on just getting into a game) I figured out that there was an offset issue here too and If I actually had the mouse below the marks some had text come up - and the yellow dot was clickable ... and I finally spawned! This seems like big error and makes navigating frustrating.
  8. Hi Squadsters I'm totally new to Squad, I did have some goes with Project Reality about a year or two ago. But I'm having a problem which is preventing me from playing/enjoying it al all First time I fired it up, everything worked as expected. I jumped into the firing range and from there adjusted my settings. I set the video, res, fullscreen... then I set the alternate btn for change fire mode to backspace. I left the game altogether rather than disconnecting (accidentally). I think I may have gotten an error message but can't remember for sure. When I started the game, I had to set the screen again, and it seemed my settings weren't saved. When I tried to join a server, nothing I clicked would launch the game. I restarted. This time it remembered the settings, and it launched me into a server without issue. But when I joined, I realised that the mouse axis weren't bound to the mouse-look/aim. I can shoot, I can look down the scope, I can walk around fine - even the quick menu works, as the cursor pops up, and I can select on of the action buttons. The map screen also works. I restarted, tried a whole manner of things to try and fix it until I deleted the whole thing and reinstalled it after downloading again. I've tried removing the config files from my apps/local (many many times) and I deleted some old settings I found from Project Reality 2. Tried pressing double escape, and everything else one might thing of. Tried windowed modes, changing the resolutions and nothing seems to make any difference at all. I made a profile for the game with the Logitech Gaming software, which I updated to the latest version. I even tried a different mouse to no avail. Also turned off the Steam overlay. I'm using a logitech G700, Windows 7 x64bit, on an i7 6-core 980x - 1st Gen. Asus ROG Poseidon Geforce 780 video card. Can't say I've ever had this problem with any other games (of which there are plenty). I've looked through the config files to see if anything stood out but I didn't notice anything along the lines of axis settings. I'd really really like to play this game, rather than ask for a refund. Because I think it has a lot of promise and I'd like to support the developer's efforts. So please if any of you are listening, and can figure out what my issue might be, give me a shout! Thanks a bunch! Hello , My friend have this problem - When he try to fire , he need to click left mouse/touchpad button for like 3-4 times to get one shot or weapon is firing with big delay (2-4 sec after click). After he switched to automatic mode , after one click on left mouse button/touchpad gun started firing in bursts not in fully automatic mode. He is playing on notebook with external USB mouse but touchpad doing same thing... Game for him is unplayable , can anybody help him to solve this problem ? * ( i think is not related to FPS - around 40 on 60 players server ). This not happens in other games , not hardware related too. Tried in firing range (SP) , other servers did not solved problem. * I tried to search this problem on forum but can't find any fix for this
  10. When I am at the main menu my mouse will not go past about 3/4ths of my screen preventing me from changing settings to windowed mode or joining a server. My Microsoft screen zoom thing is 100% already. Can someone tell me how to change the screen back to windowed mode without needing to click apply settings. I've seen a few posts about this but with no definitive solution. This game looks really fun and it sucks I cannot play it because of an issue like this.

It multiply mouse sensivity by FOV Scale(0.011110). But it would be nice to see actual formulas. BTW, I get different accelleration(depending on how fast or slow I move my mouse) with mouse smoothing enabled, so I disabled it. It would be nice if devs explained how whole mouse sensitivity thing works with formulas, please. But that's not why I've created this thread. I've created this thread because there is at least 5 places where you can set your mouse sensitivity. I figured that 'end' mouse sensitivity is a result of +AxisConfig Sensitivity multiplied by AimSensitivity variable in GameUserSettings.ini. So, let's say I've got 0.067500 in GameUserSettings.ini and Sensitivity=0.07f in +AxisConfig. My 'end' mouse sensitivity is: 0.067500*0.07=0.004725. At some point of time I changed +AxisConfig Sensitivity to 0.01 and AimSensitivity to 0.4725, my in-game sens didn't change but it became kinda smoother and more responsive, especially at lower FPS. Now I ended up with +AxisConfig Sensitivity=0.000001 and AimSensitivity=4725.000(GameUserSettings.ini) and I still get the exact same 'real life' sensitivity but it feels much smoother, more responsive and it is actually easier to aim, track enemies and spray than with default values of 0.067500*0.07... I understand that you used 0.07 value in +AxisConfig Sensitivity because of people with low DPI(400-800) and because it's alpha and you didn't have time to convert 4725.000 number to a proper 0.4725 sensitivity etc. But can you please explain the whole sensitivity thing, please? There's actually other option. You can set +AxisConfig Sensitivity=1.000000 and AimSensitivity=0.004725 and get the exact same end(0.004725) and in-game sensitivity again... But which is better: 0.067500*0.07, 0.000001*4725.000 or 1.000000*0.004725? What would you recommend and why? And what about Exponent argument for +AxisConfig? What about raw Input and direct Input? At the moment I just play with AimSensitivity=4725.000 in GameUserSettings.ini and +AxisConfig Sensitivity=0.000001... Devs, pls explain.

    Hello devs, could you add a sensitivity slider for when you are aiming? It helps a lot, specially whit targets that are really far away, it helps whit the accuracy Rising Storm Slider EDIT: for those of you who didnt get it, im talking about a sensitivity slider separate from the looking sensitivity. It should affect your sensitivity when you are aiming, and not just looking around.
  13. I was wondering if there could be a SetSensitivity command in the console like a lot of unreal engine 3 games. I run my mouse at a fairly high DPI(helps me navigate windows easier while also not messing with the windows settings) and it would help to just plug in more precise values in-game instead of having to edit config files. I imagine it would be fairly simple to implement although it might not be useful to very many people... I'm loving the game so , you guys are my favorite and most receptive devs I have seen!     I'm having a bit of a weird issue and I haven't seen anything on it so far. This problem only applies to Squad as well and not any other FPS or any game. My cursor is in a continuous downward motion, in order to stay level I have to move my mouse forward all the time. If I'm sitting still and don't touch my mouse my guy will eventually look straight at his feet and stay that way. This issue only just started happening as well, within the last patch or 2, I'm currently running on 3.11. My specs: i7-4790K GeForce GTX970 Windows 7 64 bit Logitech G400S mouse If you need any more information let me know and thanks.

  16. Hello guys, I really like the game, bought it before it was released on steam...but, I'm having this weird problem. My fps is fine, when I move with wasd is fine, with a control is fine... but when I move my mouse the game looks awful... The image gets choppy/jerky and then I cant aim very well. It is like that in almost every game, but when I play squad or warframe it is worst.... something like that: I tried everything, change dpi, change the mouse, I went back to windows 8, etc..... Can somebody help please, I'm not a FPS player and I'm getting very frustrated, almost giving up on play the game. Thanks guys, sorry for the bad English.
  17. Hello again guys, I have been trying to fix the mouse problem and I discovered something really weird... I can fix the jerky mouse by changing mouse sensitivity to low and dpi to high.... but, if I rebind left shift (or maybe any key) the jerky is back much worst than before and you cant fix anymore... After that, you need to uninstall the game, delete the saves and install again. So I cant rebind any key... Is it a bug? or just me?
  18. Not sure if this has been documented. Each time I launch the game and join a server, my mouse sensitivity is really high. I have to open Settings and click Apply, without making any changes, to set my mouse sensitivity back to what it is already set to in the Settings. Not a major bug, just a pain.

  21. Searched "sensitivity" and nothing came up about this. So some games have a sensitivity option for regular hip fire, as well as aiming down sight, and even scoped sensitivity. I understand it's pre-alpha, but I was wondering will that be implemented in? I tried snooping through the config files but didn't find anything that useful. I would like to have the same sensitivity all around, or at least have the option for it, as others may like a lower sensitivity aiming down site. But I think this should be able to be customized for the player because some people like it one way, some like it another. Or, is there a multiplier used for the main sensitivity that multiples it into the scoped sensitivity? Because if that's there, allow us to change the multiplier if we don't want any change in sensitivity between ADS, and hip fire, or if you want .5 of your main sensitivity, so it'd half it when you ADS, and so on. So main question, will this be implemented eventually? Oh, this is mainly a suggestion to add into the game, but also a question because it's alpha and it may already be planned. Thanks!
  22. Hello, dear survivors! I'd like to present you mine humble thought about "manual operationg of the charging handle" in the game. And I'll just make it throught some little examples: 1. You shot all 30 rounds (A-74, for example. Or M4A1, it's up to you), than you push "R" (if you are still alive) and change the magazine. Than, you push, for example, Left CTRL and pull your mouse back - the player move charging handle (bolt) back (in bolt action rifle, also) - you've reloaded your rifle. So, your charging handle will be pulled back as long as you pull your mouse back. 2. Your weapon has jammed - push Left CTRL and pull your mose back, so you can continue the battle. And, what's important, you can operate charging handle even without reloading situation. You need to know how many bullets are left - CTRL + mose, but do it not so fast, because you can lose a bullet that has been already loaded. P.S. Yes, I know that it's not so comfortable as just to push "R", but it can show that reloading situation is not "a simple event". The controls that are presented in this post are just a variant for example. Add: And talking about slide catch in M4A1 - use left CTRL and pull you mose left or right. So, you'll just push the button of slide catch instead pulling back the charging handle.
