      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
        §10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   Section II: Forum Signatures   §1 Signature Dimensions
To avoid clutter, please make sure your signature (if you choose to have one) does not exceed the following size limit: 350x150 pixels. Your signature may consist of images, user bars and text elements, as long as the total size does not exceed 550 x 200 pixels. A small tolerance will be given, but any signature larger than the limit may at any time be deleted without prior warning. If you are not sure whether your signature is acceptable, please PM a moderator.   §2 Signature Content
All rules of section 1 fully apply to your signature. We will remove signatures or parts of signatures without notice if they violate the forum rules, and infractions may be given.   §3 Animated Signatures
Please refrain from using animated .gifs as signatures, they distract and clutter the forum.   Section III: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  3. Hey Guys, recently like everyone i got V9 after launching i'm getting frames dropes from 50 fps to 2 or 1 frames that last about 3 secs then it goes up then it happens everytime, and also joining servers take like 5 min++,the game is completly unplayable i thought it was going to be a fleshed update but it's the worst so far i'm playing at epic settings like before i used to get (45-100 fps) my system: i5 4460 3.2 ghz sapphire amd r9 280x 3gb tri-x oc 8gb ram ddr3 1600 mhz (ps:game is installed on a hdd)
  4. Hello, So recently I have picked up squad again after many updates but when I went into a match my sound would just stop working after a tiny high pitched "wshoop". After some time I figured out my sound would only stop working after a squad member would talk on the squad radio. After the high pitched sound all the sound would stop working although it worked fine before and only tiny high pitched noises can be heard. I don't think this is an issue with the headset ( I have hyperx cloud 2's) as this problem never occurred on any other games. I also tried to play around with the sound settings and tried switching from high to low quality and other things but nothing helped. Please help and give suggestions for a fix.
  5. Having a few problems with V9. First is the scoreboard, which just refuses to fit to my screen. I am not running in 4k and am running in 1680x1050. I have checked windows scaling and the squad config and nothing is wrong, but the scoreboard is still refusing to work. I have tried to reinstall and clear the game cash, but the problem still remains. I have a screenshot below of the issue: as you can see, the word scoreboard is cut in half and the "next map" is off the screen. The Stryker issue is another weird one. It only happens when I'm on a server, but I will be in the gunner seat for maybe 5-10 seconds and the white text saying "Press (Enter) to open the spawn screen" will pop up in the middle of my screen until I switch seats or get out of the vehicle. Its pretty annoying as it takes up the center of the targeting reticule. I have not had long enough in the BTRs or the tracked vehicles in v9 to test if they have the issue aswell.
  6. Hello everyone, My name is Pedro, from Portugal. Just bought the game today... Went to the Firing Range, tested the game, all is well FPS wise, and playability Closed the game, rejoined ... I go to Server browser to join a server... I have low ping, go inside ... and I only get a flash, and I get "kicked" I guess ... afterwards I have a Server closed connection message. This happens in all servers, high ping, low ping, almost full and empty servers .. Any help please ?
  7. I bought Squad on steam and had no problem downloading it but when I went to launch it for the first time a message popped up saying "Missing EasyAntiCheat Launcher.dlls" Does anyone know how to fix it? It has happened on other games to different people and usually a game update fixes it.
  8. Every server i've joined after the update close the connection after a couple minuets if not before, anyone else experiencing this?
  9. I apologize if this topic is too negative - But I hope the Offworld team appreciates criticism by the community. Some brief questions to the devs about common concerns in the Squad community: - Why focus on performance heavy (but neat) things like dynamic foliage, barrel smoke etc. when the server-player sync is sweating at 70p, inf only, low detail maps? Will the server-player sync handle such things on a 100p vehicle map? Can you afford spending resources on this when there's sync issues already? - Some insiders have hinted you may have to abandon the 100p combined arms goal and stick with a smaller scale/fewer vehicles maps due to resource restrictions. Why are you adding more high resource features instead of abandoning these if they risk costing so much you must give up the 100p C.A. goal? - The current v. is poorly optimized for all, and worse still for AMD users. Current early alpha graphics are p. much on par with PR:BF2, and I can run these maxed at ~20FPS, when I can run the gorgeous Battlefront reboot at ~100fps, (64p with vehicles). Shouldn't optimizing/improving graphics be a #1 priority, rather than adding more content? - The design of the maps leaves a lot to be desired. Yes, the Russian maps+TrueSky look better, but still. What we've seen from the community artists/modders is gorgeous. What priority vs. adding more content is given to releasing mod tools atm? Will you, once mod tools are released, focus on working on the much needed polish of gameplay aspects like controls, optimizations, streamlining, and engine features, and let the community create most of the art and content like maps/new vehicles, with an efficient incorporation of the best of this to the base game? - What many people liked about the PR inf controls vs. those of, say, ArmA was the quicker, more responsive and direct, 'arcade-ish' feel since it felt like you were the soldier, whereas the hyper-realistic ArmA controls with delays, wobbly camera (which is 'realistic' - your head moves around IRL - but put on screen, you can't use the part of your brain that compensates for this to give a steady perception), and exaggerated endurance effects makes it feel like your soldier has brain damage from sniffing glue. If Squad is the spiritual successor to PR, and is "a balance of arcade, teamwork, and realism", why add hyper-realistic features that make controls less responsive and direct, like momentum while sprinting, excessive camera wobble, stamina effects on camera movement, breath hold for short range weps (which ruins suppressive fire), too much recoil climb vs. recoil spread, delayed animation start for switching weapons and reloading, etc., which makes it feel like someone else is controlling your character? - With the explosion of new players in a game where a good gameplay experience relies mostly on playing with like minded people, why not add things like automatic mic check to join certain servers and such tools to filter servers by desired play style? In Squad, you all too often have a bad time by only finding casual no mic players when you want teamwork, or only serious mic users getting annoyed at you for wanting to play casual without voice chat. I hope you have time to answer some of this. Sincerely, Bollz and the community
  10. Ive been looking through the forums looking for an answer without success, so i decided creating my own topic. I have this strange issue where my fps seems to be 'capped' when i start the game. I usually type 'stat FPS' when entering the main menu, and sometimes it is around 40-50, while if i restart the game, it might change to 200 fps at a random. I found out that if i change the settings from windowed to fullscreen something happends with the fps, which makes it bump up to a higher 'average'. If i change back, it might go even higher. Ive tried to verify the game integrity, but this changes nothing. Ive set the game to run as administrator, without any noticeable changes. (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Squad) - This one. Here are some pictures before and after i change to fullscreen from borderless, and back. Specs CPU pics
  11. Switching Squads

Hello all, I want to ask you guys about that ... I dont know If this is a bug. I spawn in a Squad with regular kid and than everyone left and so as I ... but when I join in new squad, My weapon changes and I remain only with 2 Magazines of ammo and Dont have Foeld dressing and nothing ... What is that, some kind of Penalty about the squad switvhing or System of preventing Kit Stacking ... Thanks !!
  12. What is happening Guys ... I was playing and than LOADING SCREEN appear from nowhere ... than NO SERVER in the List ... Is it only me ?!
  13. My PC sometimes freezes while playing Squad. Latest one: I played for around ~40 Min and than the PC froze entirely. So, Squad is still open but it just gives me a freeze frame. No Audio. I tried to just wait for the freeze to go by, but nothing happened also after a half an hour. The only way to work on the PC again is by pressing its power button until it forces a shutdown. (A half of myself is always dying when I'm forced to do something like that :( After that I can start the PC the normal way and nothing seems to has happened. This occurs nearly every time I play.
  14. Regular Gameplay Fixes

Just a few thoughts, Enemies should not be allowed to be close enough to spawn camp main base. I typically cannot stand from prone into a crouch position, i have to sprint to get out of it, and it gets me killed behind walls. A lot of the walls are very difficult to climb over, even with full stamina at times. When one squad places a rally point directly on an FOB, there is no TAB mechanic to be able to select the FOB to spawn on if your in another squad. Instead you just are not able to spawn b/c the rally point overlay takes precedence and thinks you're trying to spawn on it. K thnx. Oh, and Vehicles plz!
  15. The game won't start even trying all the fixes i could find in internet, so i checked the log files and realized that there is an error saying my Steam account was not signed in correctly, Well, i just logoff Steam and log-in again and now i can launch the game. I think that was just a coincidence, yesterday i realize that running Steam as an Administrator worked for me. WINDOWS 8.1 AMD FX5
  16. My Feedback

Aiming: Aiming in this game feels awful, as does shooting. Using a scope makes it worse. In fact, I just hip fire most of the time. It really feels like you're holding the gun really far away from your face which means as soon as you shoot you lose your target. Sway: Weapon sway is way too exaggerated. FOB: (Now I'm assuming since there's no explosives (C4, etc), that this will be implemented, but if not...) Just walking up to an FOB and removing it is a bit strange. Using explosives would make it a lot better I think. Capture Points: The radius on these are very large, and often the capture points don't even capture anything of worth. Why would there be a big fight over a mediocre hill with no buildings in sight? Game Mode: (This is purely for pre-alpha/alpha/beta) Instead of tickets, maybe a capture-all-points style mode. It would make battles go for longer, make for some really cool battles over the flags and have an actual point to reinforcing a position because those tickets won't run out as fast as they do. It could also go the other way and make the games much shorter if one team dominated the other. Rockets: The kill range on the RPG is absolutely awful. You can land a rocket 5 metres from an enemy and not even damaged. Also, you can hit a small wall with an enemy behind it and no damage either. Recoil: The M4 has more recoil than an AK. Long Rifle: I'm assuming this having no optic is either for a balance reason or no sight has been made yet, but if it's intentional I find that strange. Not going to add the obvious like prone or vehicles because they're obviously coming. If anyone knows the details of the weapon resting in this game, can you let me know?
  17. First off, that was awesome. The sounds, the art, the mechanics.. everything is definitely progressing and it's nice to be able to see it as a player by experiencing it first hand. I'm going to write a quick bit of feedback and any aspects I believe are "issues". I'll try to leave out the repetitive and obvious stuff that everyone is well aware of and I'm not going to dive into telling you what your priorities should be! Let me start off by saying I experienced absolutely no technical issues the whole weekend. I got my email, sent the extra key to a friend, set up my account / profile, downloaded the game and waited for the accounts to go live / be activated. The game didn't crash once at any point and my performance was pretty decent. I had everything maxed but then I put the shadows down to MED to go up to a more constant frame rate. I also used VSYNC... it works pretty well for me. I rebound my voice comm keybindings and adjusted my mouse sensitivity without a problem too. The only problem I had was server side which was mentioned by several people on the forums during the weekend. Joined an empty server and was sent back to the main menu.. I'm not going to speculate on what I think it was but you guys had it on lock and fixed it in the end. That aside, there were a couple of "picky" things that are stuck in my head.. Suicide - I came across a few guys in a squad that were abusing the ability to commit suicide using console commands. Basically, they would send the SL behind flags to place an RP down and once they secured the flag they would instantly commit suicide and respawn on the RP. They also figured out that the respawn timer is shorter on the hideout / radio ("FOB") so they went with extra guys and set up behind the flags again which meant the enemy had no chance to counter the flag capture since the respawns were so short. This meant they could fully skip fighting the enemy and instantly start capturing the next flag. Building FOBs and RPs behind the front line is fine but abusing the console command to commit suicide in order to essentially avoid having to push the enemy back directly seems a little bit extreme to me and I'm well aware that some kits have grenades but that's the same concept. It was pretty effective too since killing yourself is much faster than having to run against a force of resistance.... anyway, the direct solution I can think of is just to make the respawn timer longer if the player commits suicide, maybe 15-30 seconds more than the regular timer. Having the option to commit suicide at this stage of development is a pretty vital thing so I won't suggest the removal of it but it shouldn't be something that can be abused to affect gameplay. Being an SL - I had a few games as a Squad Leader. It's fun leading and the communication aspect is shaping up to be great already. One bit of feedback I have for that is either for the game to "prioritize" incoming comms or for the players to be able to set this up on their own. Having people talk on Local, Squad and Command at the same time can be an extremely painful experience especially when the rounds are flying and explosions are going off. At the time we had 3 Squad Leaders and we were communicating with each other. Now, this was awesome as we were able to co-ordinate our efforts on different tasks but once Local and Squad channels started to become more active in the game I found it impossible to distinguish anything said. So what I suggest as a fix would be automatic channel prioritization. This would basically mean that if someone is talking on Local and then someone starts talking in Squad it would lower the volume of Local while Squad net is being transmitted. This would also be the same with Command being prioritized over Squad. Another fix would be for players to be able to set prioritization in their settings.. if someone doesn't necessarily want Squad net to turn down the volume of Local they could swap them or even go as far to the point where you can just set individual channel volume levels (similar to master volume and then a breakdown of effects, UI etc).I believe that's it from me. There's a lot of other things I've noticed but they have been addressed by others already which is awesome to see. Edit: Specs if anyone requires them.
