      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
        §10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. Hello. I just rented a server. This will be mainly Nordic and Englishspeaking people on. There is only one problem, the server sends messages in German (as shown in the picture top left). Where in the cfg do i fix this? [NVIK] DanieleN
  2. Hello fresh Squad players and welcome to the community! To start this out, please remember that Squad is in its Alpha stage still, which means all content is subject to change and issues/bugs/glitches may happen. So the best tip I can give you is to have patience - both inside the game itself and outside of it. To start with a disclaimer, this is not an official guide / post / anything, I’m just a random drunkard trying to ease the pain of new players coming in to a game with a relatively steep learning curve. Squad is a great game. But what keeps us regulars coming back to it and loving it so much are the players in it - the community. It is indisputably the best aspect of the game and a great team, a great Squad Leader even can make even a losing fight enjoyable. So please remember that there are A LOT of new players playing this weekend and the level of gameplay can be very varied as everyone's trying their best to learn the ropes. There is going to be a small army of experienced players playing as Squad Leaders to help keep the gameplay fluid and as close to normal level as possible, so give those guys some credit and try to be a good squad member - you're most likely in good hands with a Squad Leader that is brandishing some sort of [Clan Tags] but there are naturally plenty of other great players & leaders that are not with any specific group. If you find yourself in a good squad, enjoy the moment and feel free to ask any questions you have when the situation isn’t too hectic, people are keen to help. It’s common for squads made of complete strangers to “click” and keep playing for multiple rounds in a row, seek for those opportunities and you’re going to have a good time. WHAT IS SQUAD? At its best: A deeply strategic and immersive teamwork focused experience that creates memorable moments and is thoroughly enjoyable through a whole one to two hour match. At its worst: A shitshow of a complicated team deathmatch with no strategy or team play to be seen and where the points don’t matter. What creates the difference between the two? You (andtheother79dudes) GAMEPLAY TIPS Loading screen image with all the controls etc. SPAWNING There are 3 ways to spawn in Squad, Main Spawn, FOB and Rally Point. 2 latter ones are placed by the players. This means some players need to sort them out while others get straight to the fight. This might mean you have to sometimes wait a few minutes before you’re needed to spawn at the start of the round so please listen to your Squad Leader before you spawn in at Main. **Don’t spawn at round start unless asked to** - This is a purely logistic issue/choice from the Squad Leaders on how many vehicles they want to use. Some simply won’t have a place to sit. Be patient, you’ll get to the fight sooner or later. PROTIP: Rally Points are squad specific spawns with 10 spawns until it runs out. Try to always leave the last spawn for your Squad leader so he can place a new one! DYING Squad has quite long spawn timers to reward kills and decrease the clown-car effect of spawning, making each player’s life more valuable than in other games. You should **ALWAYS** stay in the downed state from 30 seconds to a minute because you won’t be able to spawn any quicker anyway and that gives your medics a chance to pick you up and save that precious ticket. SPOTTING ENEMIES It can be extremely hard to pinpoint enemies in your first games as you have no idea where they’re coming from so listen carefully to your squad calling them out and possibly them being marked on the map. Remember that the map markers for enemies are placed manually by Squad Leaders and are not 100% accurate. To spot them yourself, think of a logical way they should be coming from and stop for a while and observe, any movement is easier to pick up when you’re standing still yourself. Getting this right takes time and patience, don’t be frustrated if you get the feeling that the “trees are shooting you”. Use your compass at the bottom of the screen to call the enemy locations with directions like “Enemy infantry North West, 200 meters (estimation), multiple”. VEHICLES In Squad vehicles are extremely important to the outcome of the fight. Each vehicle has a ticket cost associated with them that your team loses upon losing the vehicle. For any of the bigger vehicles, APCs and Humvees etc. the cost is very high so you should treat them with respect and try to keep them safe at all times and only engage when you think you have the advantage. They are not tanks and driving one into a town with enemies will lead into its swift destruction. Each vehicle has to be claimed by a Squad Leader to be used by their squad either by the Squad Leader entering the vehicle or remotely by having 2 squad members next to the vehicle and the Squad Leader claiming it from his radial menu. Protip: E to start the engine WHAT ****ING TICKETS? Tickets are the way the winner of a match is determined in Squad, typically both teams start with 500 tickets in AAS mode and the one to run out first loses. Each player “life” is worth 1 ticket, Vehicles anywhere between 2 to 35 tickets depending on the vehicle. FOBs (the big spawn points) are worth 20 tickets. The Objectives have a varying cost on them as well depending on the map layer. Capturing a neutral flag doesn’t cost the enemy tickets but taking one that the enemy is controlling decreases the enemy tickets and even gives some back to your team. Controlling the majority of flags on the map also makes the enemy team “bleed” tickets = lose tickets over time. TEAMKILLING Teamkilling is heavily frowned upon by the community and intentional TKs can and will get you banned from many servers. Accidents happen and it’s normal to occasionally mistake a friend to a foe – just remember to apologize and it’s usually fine! It's an intense game, tempers will rise, but try to find a way to solve the situation that is not TKing anyone. The playerbase is very mature compared to other shooter games, unbelievable but true, you can actually talk to people usually. TKing – Don’t do it. Trust me on this. TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS / HOW TO FIX ERRORS Squad is an Early Access game in its Alpha stage. Sometimes things go wrong. Here are the basic tips to help solve a majority of issues. It’s impossible to say what will fix what as every system is unique and an untold amount of things can go wrong, but these should help. If issues persist, seek proper Support either on the official forums or Discord (links at the bottom). Clearing the Cache –This is your #1 solution to all Squad related problems, launch the game, go to Settings – Game Settings and click the “Clear Cached Data” and restart your game. This is especially true for returning players who have had a previous version of Squad installed at some point. Verify integrity of files in Steam – In Steam library right click on Squad – Properties – Local Files – Verify Integrity of Game files. Restart Steam. Turn off all skins in the in game settings (you might not have skins, they were a limited thing and a little broken atm and cause issues) Have you tried turning it off and on again? Restart your computer. I HAVEN’T PLAYED THE GAME BEFORE - SHOULD I SQUADLEAD? Short answer & personal opinion: No. If you create a Squad that makes you the Squad Leader and there are certain expectations of you as a player in that role. It’s not like other games *cough battlefield* where it’s just a title. Here it actually has a meaning and you’ve got some responsibilities. You're essentially one of 4-5 Squad Leaders in the team and together you are the driving force and the strategic hive mind guiding your team. This requires some experience in the game so please DO NOT CREATE A SQUAD = BECOME A SQUADLEADER IF YOU'RE PLAYING YOUR VERY FIRST GAMES. I only say that for the benefit of everyone in the game, even if you believe you're Patton reborn, at least observe a more experienced Squad Leader for a few rounds before trying it out yourself. No one is perfect in their first game and it can be very stressful / demanding so you need a certain attitude going into it. If you're interested in trying it out anyhow, check out some of the SquadLeading guides to get a few tips on it. Nothing is stopping you from doing it in your first game but I can guarantee you that you and your teammates will have a better experience if you try to grasp the basics first and when you feel fully in control you can drop yourself in the deep end and try out SL:ing! LIFE SKILLS 101 BY HERHI A couple situations you might find yourself in and my personal opinion on how to fix the situation: "My squad isn't communicating" Any number of reasons might cause this, you might all be new, people might not have mics, the Squad Leader might not know he is the Squad Leader. Try asking politely if you have a plan or what’s going on and people might wake up. If nothing else, the Squad Leader should always be able to communicate and be the one talking a lot. There are differences in how much players want to micromanage as SLs, but some standard of communication is to be expected. Otherwise, leave the Squad and check out another one. If the same repeats, considering switching to another server as communication is crucial to both the gameplay and enjoyment of the game. "No one has made a squad and the game is about to start" Just keep waiting, someone will eventually gather the courage to do it. DO NOT create a squad on your own if you don’t plan on being the Squad Leader and give the role to someone else who joined the squad. This is extremely shitty and causes unnecessary hassle. Have I mentioned patience? "I don't know where I should spawn" Ask. "I was kicked out of a squad" The SL can kick anyone they want whenever they want. Maybe you did something wrong and he didn’t bother to explain it, maybe your microphone wasn’t on and he thought you couldn’t communicate, maybe he made room for a friend / clanmate. Don’t worry about it, just hop into another one. Rarely is it a personal vendetta against you. “My Squad Leader seems to be intoxicated” Good. He will lead you into great adventure. “My Squad Leader is an asshole” Is he really? Or is he telling you what to do because that’s what he is meant to do. If he actually is an asshole, just leave the squad and join another one, no need to make a scene. “I was kicked / banned from a server – all the moderators are power hungry assholes” No they are not. All good Squad servers are run by communities and usually only trusted members have moderator rights on a server. They are there to make the game more enjoyable for everyone on the server – usually at the cost of their own enjoyment. Believe me, they would rather be playing the game rather than hunt evidence of disruptive behavior. If you feel your kick / ban was unjustified, almost all servers / communities have their own Discord channels where you can bring it up. Remember to be polite, it could’ve been an honest mistake of someone’s fat fingers. TL;DR Patience is key. The community is what makes the game great - don't be an *** and you won't be treated like one. ENJOY THE FREE WEEKEND MADNESS! This was supposed to be a brief guide but there's so much to talk about that I'm surprised if anyone read this far. There is A LOT of stuff I've left out and is out there for you to learn on your own. If there are any pressing concerns or blatant misinformation on my post there, feel free to point it out and I'll get it sorted. LOOKING FOR SOMETHING? I just wanted to know if there's a way too take screen shots in game?
  4. Alright everyone, I need your help. I have decided to make a squad cinematic trailer that I hope turns out to be truly emotional, beautiful, and EPIC! I am going to need to make a few of these types of threads down the road to share progress and everything, but I'm at the beginning, so I need to start with the basics: First: I need a title suggestion for the trailer (between 1 and 4 words). I already have the soundtrack that I plan to use as I have already imagined most of what it's going to look like in my brain. Second: I need tips. If you have made videos before (or none at all), I am open to advice and tips. \ Thirdly: I need clips. Any clips that you have that are no more than 10 seconds long. (If you have a long video that you would like me to look at to dissect certain parts from the video, go ahead and post it. Just don't post a 1 hour video, because I'm not going to get around to watching it.) Even if you have low pc specs, I can still use the clips for brainstorming and for possible re-creation of the same thing on a higher end pc (Mine isn't amazing, but it's pretty decent) I think that is about all I wanted to say for now. Hopefully this gets some attention because I could really use some advice and lots of clips. Oh, and a title. I need that too. FeatherSton3 Out.
  5. Hello, my game disconnects me every time I join a server. Server loads, map shows up and I am being kicked out in 5 seconds or earlier. Every server I try, this happens. Only time it didnt happen is with empty servers. This started happening since 9.6. update. My specs are: CPU: Intel i5 3350P MOBO: MSI B75MA-P45 (MS-7798) RAM: 2x Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB DDR3 1600 GPU: AMD Sapphire HD7850 2GB DDR5 Windows 10 Here is the latest crash log info (deleted logs, loaded game, joined server, got disconnected, uploaded new log): Log: http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=74741596032972596365 Crash report: http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=16668588726040384339 Thank you for any kind of help. Edit: I tried reinstalling the game, deleting cache in steam, verifying files in steam, reinstalling EAC, reinstalling GPU drivers but no luck.
  6. My system is having a lot of trouble running squad, but neither my CPUs or GPU average above 50% usage. My game chugs along at 8-15 fps while the system uses less than half of it's full potential. I tried for hours to find a fix, but nothing I tried helped, after multiple restarts and even installing the game on a different HDD. I eventually gave up and started planning to upgrade my GPU, however I found youtube videos of players with GTX 760s running the game at ~40 fps. My system is a bit unique, being a dual xeon build, but no other games seem to have any issues, including bf4, PUBG, and other well-optimized AAA games. Disabling one of the CPUs made zero difference in performance. Specs below: Dual Quad Core Xeon E5430 CPUs at 2.66 Ghz for 8 cores total MSI Twin Frozr GTX 760 16 gb DDR2 registered server ram at 667Mhz 750 watt corsair psu
  7. Specs: GPU: AMD Radeon R9 270 3GB Memory: 8GB DDR3 Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 CPU: AMD FX-8350 Hello! I am currently experiencing an issue in which it crashes immediately upon either loading into a servers game or loading into the Training Range. This is for me easily Reproducible by simply loading into the game itself again. I have verified game integrity, re-installed, deleted my cache, and explored a few other options such as drivers, windows updates and not changing my settings after re-installation. I do not have any idea if this was a problem before/after the latest patch, as I installed it last night as well as reinstalled it because of this on-going issue. If I need to attach anything please let me know to do so. Thank you for your time!

  9. Hello all, I'm at my wits end with this one. I get disconnected from servers with "Auth Ticket Cancelled by User" after 30mins - 3h~ of gameplay. Happens on all servers. Internet does not lose connection. Things I have tried; - Restarting PC / Steam - Restarting router - Verifying Integrity of Game Cache for Squad - Updating BIOS / drivers - Turning off firewall - Deleting Steam clientregistry.blob file and Config folder - Reinstalling Squad - Deleting appdata files. Occasionally, I will be able to play for 4+ hours without issue, but most of the time I get disconnected before a full round can complete. Usually seems to happen right after I spend 5 minutes doing an epic flank, placing down 3 mines in perfect spots, and then sneaking up behind an entire squad. I really like this game, but I'm unable to have much fun with these constant disconnects. Has anyone else here experienced this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! 10. SA Servers

Hi, I just recently bought squad on steam during the summer sale. However, I notice there are no African servers and the lowest ping I can get is about 250. I am writing on the forum to ask for any info regarding this issue. I come from South Africa and I would like to know if the ping will affect my gameplay and if there is any plan for the future, to release at least one SA(South African) server or African server? I know for a fact that there is quite a big squad community in SA that would highly appreciate a server and low ping. Would anyone with information regarding this issue please post a response. It would be most appreciated.
  11. Hello I am a console gamer and I have recently noticed that consoles don't have ANY realistic war games. And I am looking to buy a computer solely to play Squad. Now, Me being the noob I am I know nothing about gaming computers and laptops and I'm looking for advice on whether or not there is a laptop/desktop that has and or exceeds Squads system requirements that is READY TO GO without having to buy a certain graphics card or something along those lines. Ill reiterate once more I'm a noob and I don't know jack shit about building a PC. If the Squad community can help me so I can get into the battle ASAP that would be awesome. Thanks! PS Please email me at: [email protected] Lindsaybrandon0[email protected]
  12. Hello, So basically whenever I click play on Squad , the loading launcher pops up, finishes loading, then nothing. Squad in steam doesnt even show "Squad - Running" once it closes. Occasionally Ill get a "Easy Anti Cheat has stopped working". What I have tried: - Restarting Computer - ReInstalling Game - Verifying Files - Deleted Squad %localappdata% folder - Uninstalled EAC - Reinstalled EAC - Started steam with admin - Started squad with admin - Cleaned Disk Memory Keep in mind that I have logged over 250+ hours into Squad so this is completely out there. I have had plenty of other squad related issues in the past but I have been able to troubleshoot, not this one though. Can't find log files anywhere for as to why it is crashing. None of it has worked. Any ideas or help? Thank you
  13. Hello, ever since the new update i'v havent been able to start the game. I press launch game and the loading screen would appear and the process would end right after the loading screen is over. I tested this with task manager and saw the squad.exe process end right after the small loading screen with the small "cancel" sign at the bottom loaded. There are no error signs or anything it just kills the process right after the launch. Thanks for helping.
  14. Hey lads, As the title suggests, I'm just writing a few hints and tips for people new to the game and even reminders for those who have played for a bit. First thing's first - this is the link for the Squad Wiki Here. Make this your first port of call if you have any questions, as this page may answer them. There is a link here for beginners that has some short video's on the very basics. If you want to watch some top clans verse each other every week - check out Community Clan Fight Night - CCFN. Disclaimer* Obviously, there are times where these aren't the letter of the law. They're only here as a guide. And for the forums in general, for the love of god use the search function! If you have the time, I highly recommend going to the Squad League YouTube channel and watching some of the clans vs. each other - Apart from being highly entertaining, you might even learn something. General: Try to at least be semi-mature when playing. If you know the guys though, by all mean get loose. You don't wanna be the 1 scaring the new players away. On that note, if you're new or unsure please ask. Most mature players would be more than happy to help! Don't just shoot at anything in the distance. If they're out of range they are just that. If you shoot for the sake of it, your beautifully orchestrated flank has just been ruined by 1 click of the mouse. If you are maneuvering as a squad trying to flank, and are outside of the 'Danger Zone', if you spot an enemy, ask your SL if you're able to fire before ruining that perfect flank. Don't look in the same direction as everybody else. Keep your head on a swivel and try to anticipate what the enemy is doing. Please for the love of god, 'column of blob' is not a tactical formation and only increases the chance of multiple casualties. Spread out a little and don't congregate in small groups. A good player will take you apart if you're together. When you're defending a point, try to keep at least a 10-20m spacing. HE weapons are very effective, as per the MG's. Try to play slower and smarter - Rushing something might just get you killed. *NOTE: I'm not saying try to emulate real life in this video game. It may look and sound good on paper, but this is just a game, so play it as a game, not as a simulator. You're not worrying about actually taking one in the face or stepping on an IED, so move a little faster when it's tactically sound. Play to your factions strength and try to pull the opposing team out of theirs. Some players believe the INS team is hard done by, but that's just because those idiots try to out-distance ACOGs with iron-sights. Close the gap dummy. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. If your plan isn't working, change it. This whole game isn't about a KDR, it's about playing the objective but playing smart. BUT, having a good KDR AND a good squad score will definitely help your team out. DON'T bunch up! When you're running around the map trying to locate the enemy, try to manage your stamina so you have half a bar minimum at all times. You never know when you'll need to do a quick sprint. If you're close to the enemy or you think you are, take a breather and regain your stamina before advancing to contact. Same with crossing open ground, hold off in cover or concealment and then sprint across. Reload when you get the chance. Don't go into battle with only a few rounds in the mag. No bang bang makes for a lot of black screens. If you're injured, put a bandage on yourself. Just whip that FAD out and hold the RMB. Save your poor medics some time and their all important FAD's! If you see someone go down and the area is safe, put a bandage on your fallen comrade. They still need one even if you can't see it! Tell your medic that he has been bandaged and reap the benefits and praise from your 2 battle buddies. Constantly hit "M" and check the map, you will want to know who is around you and where. When you're close to an objective, GET INSIDE THE CAP ZONE!! I can't stress this enough. Sheer numbers change the battle to your favor. Clear and concise target indications. For example: "2 enemy bearing 245 at 200m", or "Reference 2 story swiss cheese building, eastern edge, 1 enemy", or even "contact front, danger close/contact front 100m". When building/destroying emplacements, don't everyone whip out your shovels. Try to have a max of 2 shoveling while the others pull security. DON'T bunch up! MINES work both ways. It goes boom on friendly vehicles too. On that, If you're a scout kit, get those mines out on choke points AWAY from friendly forces. Squad Leaders: You have the most important role in the game, and a single good SL can change the outcome of the match. If you maintain a spawn location for your squad (rallies) and for your team (FOB's with HAB), you're already better than 50% of the SL's out there. 1x FOB per map is nowhere near enough. Multiple spawn locations gives your team more options to attack the enemy. There is already a thread Leadership Behaviour. Try to emulate some of the better Squad leaders. You can find a thread on a few Squad Leader Recommendation. What makes a good squad leader is here. FOB placement. All you really need to know for now is FOB placement basics. To assign a vehicle it's much quicker and easier for the SL to right click and approve the vehicles on the map - hit enter to bring up the map/command view. Try to put the bunkers where the gunner is somewhat protected - no point having a pretty decoration because the hapless gunner keeps getting sniped. FOB's now need to have a HAB built for friendlies to spawn, they cost 500 build points and are BIG - think about this before placing them down. Possibly it might be beneficial to NOT build HAB's on some of the first FOB's on larger maps so they can stay hidden as backups? Medics: Triage - if there are multiple casualties, bandage guys and heal em so they are up and then over local get them to "find cover" and heal them in a safer location. DO NOT bunch up and heal the same guy if there are enemy around or it's in the open - I can not stress this enough. Yes, points are cool, but losing both medics due to greed is not. Remember you're a support player, try to hold a little back and keep your men up. Same with a FOB location, you should be shoveling while the other "fighters" fight. Once you've finished healing someone make sure you re-equip your bandage before moving on. You don't wanna be hit bad while having your med pouch out. Chances are you'll bleed out! LAT/HAT/RPG: BBDA - Back Blast Danger Area!!! This doesn't mean say "back blast" and then shoot - actually check or give some warning you're about to fire so people have time to actually get out of the way. Pre-equip the correct warhead before going into battle. If you can get away with it, try not to shoot that thing in the middle of a group of your friendly troops. It makes a big bang at the far end but also gives away your position with the back blast. If you're going to fire it, relocate every time. The HAT kit should be spending his whole game focused on vehicles. Vehicles: It takes 2 people minimum to claim a vehicle, and a SL can't approve unless he is in an active SL role (spawned in and playing). At the start of the round, follow your squad leader around the vehicles and for the first minute, just be quiet and listen to what he wants and jump into what you need. Might is right, don't try to attack a BTR with a HMMWV (Humvee) unless you know what you're doing. Now that more and more, larger caliber weapons are being introduced, and now that enemy vehicles have more firepower, possibly it's not the best idea to go rushing head-on into a heavily defended area with a vehicle - the armor on vehicles can only protect the occupants from SAF (Small Arms Fire) for so long, add on top the ticket loss for losing the vehicle and it quickly makes sense as to why this isn't a good tactic anymore. But all that aside, you're here to enjoy your time and so is everyone else. Keep that in mind - it's the most important pointer out there!

  17. Disabling Gamepad

Hey there, I have been trying to figure out how to disable the default gamepad/controller controls of squad. I like to set up my xbox one controller with 3rd party software so I can play with a hybrid gamepad/mouse setup but I haven't been able to disable squad's default controls to stop my keybinds and squads from fighting each other. I found another post on here where a programmer stated the following.. Motherdear: "Go to the defaultinput.ini in the app config folder/ game folder and find everything with the gamepad tag and delete it manually, our binding system is very basic atm and isn't slated for updating for a while sadly" Seems pretty straight forward so I go into said input folder and delete all mentions of gamepad save and still have the controls fighting me, then delete them another way with no luck and eventually remove defaultinput.ini from the game all together and the controls are still there. Idk what I am doing wrong, if I am overlooking something, or if you just can't do it this way anymore? Any help or insight is greatly appreciated!
  18. I've been trying to launch squad for the past several hours with no luck. It keeps freezing at the initial loading screen. I've let it sit for about 30 minutes twice with no result. I've verified integrity multiple times in steam. I've completely deleted the game and redownloaded/reinstalled it twice. Nothing seems to be working. I've checked on google and have tried just about everything under the sun with no result. Someone PLEASE help! My PC can most definitely run the game. I've been playing it for the past month with no issue.

  23. Squad Crash

Ever since squad updated to Unreal Engine 4 my computer doesn't seem to run the game. When I run the game, the launcher will show up and then i see the PC controls, but then it freezes and crashes. I always get the same error report after the crash "MachineId:805533D647E0519E60BEB48AD757D087 EpicAccountId:e541bd237fcb493e81fe0ccabe341ecb You do not have any debugging symbols required to display the callstack for this crash." My GPU is a R9 280x. If anyone knows how to fix this, I would very much appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
