      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
        §10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. Forums Favicon

Minor bug, Site's favicon (icon in browser tab) is not shown for pages, except if it is a main forum page http://forums.joinsquad.com/
  2. Can we please get like and dislike-buttons for topics and posts on the forum? This would allow devs to get more information about how appreciated ideas are when suggested since most posts doesn't seem to include polls. PS: Please vote on the matter, it's like 3 seconds of your time...
  3. Could we please have a modding subforum? I understand that we already have a semi-official website for it, but it'd be nice to have a place to discuss with others on the official website. I'd be a place where we could discuss ideas and have easily link tutorials, or teams could hook up etc. It'd also be pretty cool to see what others are doing with their mods! EDIT: Never mind, found it, was looking in the wrong area.
  4. Why is This Happening?

Does this happen to any other of you? Sometimes quoting just adds a random number (or none) *NOT* in the original text and spaces out the quote body, not the text by a lot. Does anyone know what this issue is or how to fix it?
  5. Title says it all i guess... Reddit have this nice feature, can we get it also? If it could be done, maybe also add 'new dev response' since last time you looked at topic. Yep, its not important feat, shouldn't take devs time off the game development if complicated but would be nice if that can be done in a easy and quick way.
  6. Squad Themed

Hey, it's me again with an updated version of the website theme. I just fixed a few "issues" I had with the new design. How to get it: 1. Install Stylish -> https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/stylish/ -> https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stylish/fjnbnpbmkenffdnngjfgmeleoegfcffe?hl=de 2. Once Sytlish is installed, click on "search for more styles for this website" and apply the "Squad Themed" That's it :). Should look like this
  7. New forum format

Gotta say, definitely not liking the new forum style. I might be the only one but it makes topics harder to read in my opinion. Does not make sections easier to find and constantly loads extra info before loading the thread you selected. I understand if you guys are working on something new but to me this is a big case of "ain't broke, don't fix it" and you've gone and tried to fix something that was working quite flawlessly.
  8. Chat on the forum

What about to make chat on the forum for quick problem-solving and communication between players without creating topics on the forum? :) Concept:https://i.gyazo.com/3471da4367b4d4999c7f77669abeedeb.png
  9. Hey. I noticed many of you guys do have a signatures with Squad logo in national colours. My question is: Where can I have one to :D I'm looking for Polish national colours tho.
  10. Enabling Disabled Page Elements

Halp. How I can enable again the "recent topics" page element? It accidentally clicked the minus mark and it did disappear and now I can't figure a way to enabling again.
  11. Hey I would like to change or hide my answer to: "Where did you hear about us?" Why? Because the answer :PR-Com is pretty shitty, I was to lazy to write out community and now regret it. Also it is displayed on every post I make and its kinda embarassing Would be great if there is a way to hide it. Thank you.
  12. Currently the forums are a bit muddled in areas because new players are posting nearly everywhere about founder tags, buying the game etc. I think a more defined separation between the external issues (customer support) and internal issues (game feedback) needs to be made. You already have the definition quite clear and have much better forums than most companies, I am just thinking you should have a section which is dedicated towards answering customers who have purchased the game and are confused, otherwise the only game feedback or questions you are getting are on payment issues. (this is a if possible) You could also make some sections where a person can start a thread but only devs can answer, that way you don't get confused people giving confused answers, I appreciate that everyone is doing their best to fill in people, but as more and more are turning up on the forums it's getting confusing, and it would be nice to have a transparent area (not email or PM) which people can ask a question and it's posed directly to the devs not anyone else. Another few additions which would be welcome are separate language forums for our non English speaking friends, and you could offer up the parts of the game you want translated into different languages. A modification area in preparation for mods, kind of like a suggestion area, people can start getting organised towards what they want to build etc and it will also make clear to people whether their mod is viable (if it's being built by the devs etc) this can go in the community participation area, it will get people talking and will hopefully attract those who play games to mod them earlier. A bug report area more visible than the feedback area, in preparation for when it goes on steam, you don't want good or bad feedback mixed in with bug reports, it will become very confusing for potential buyers who want to see if it's worth getting. I know you have most probably thought of these things but it's just a nudge, browsing the forums I see a lot of confusion, and to me it's mainly down to separating the internal game forums and the external game forums.
  13. Dungeon for "those" threads

Can we have a Dungeon Section where all those proliferate threads about backer's tags, keys, etc. go?
  14. So, there's another website I'm active on that uses the same forum software as here. I think that some forum features they added were really good additions, and they could probably work well here just as well. First: On the homepage for this forum, on the right side of the screen, there's the section that lists recent new topics. Now, I think that this should either be replaced or have another one below it that displays topics that have recently been replied to. This makes it easier to find active topics on the forum and saves time manually looking at every section and looking at the date when the last reply was posted. Second: There's some way to add a "Like" button to posts so that users can rate up comments/topics rather than posting another reply "+1"ing it. I personally think it's quicker and saves room if all someone has to say is "I agree" or "+1". Very useful for suggestion topics and seeing where popularity lies among a discussion. Thirdly: If someone quotes you, you should be sent a notification. Again, it just saves time manually going to a topic to see whether someone has replied to your comment/OP or not. It's also an alternative to following a topic, since you will only be notified when someone quotes you, and if someone quotes someone else, you won't be notified. I know for a fact that all of those things are possible, because they are all features on lcpdfr.com (moderators can redact that URL if it's against rules, I'm not trying to advertise. Not my website, either). And I generally think they make things easier and more friendly.
  15. New Sub-forum Ideas:

I have been thinking about my "idea" contributions on this forum, and observing the vast quantity of excellent contributions of others and it just kinda dawned on me how overwhelming this could be for the devs. As someone looking for a place to be a part of, and someone who likes to be creative, I am interested in contributing more than just ideas if I can manage it. I think there are others in this community, and forum that are interested in doing the same. I think it would be kinda neat if we started a sub for "modding" where we the community, with our smattering of ideas, can talk about what *we* can do to test these, build them, and implement them as mods, or contributions if the core devs are interested. I imagine a lot of the content could also just be localized conversations about how to do things in the UE4 engine. What inspired this thought was a discussion I was having with my brother who graduates this spring in CompSci. I was discussing the wounding mechanics thread where I have mapped some logic, and what it would take to build this logic framework, even without a gui, but just to get the rough framework going, and to do some preliminary conceptual testing. He said to make something that could be useable, we would need some understanding of the underlying structure, or elements of the game that we could reference, e.g. what hitboxes exist, what the variables are that report their status among other things. Until alpha release or later, I dont have access to this, but it would be cool to have a place where we can discuss this with the Devs at their discretion. A mod-thread would be a good place to discuss these things, and we could start building a micro-community of content contributors rather than just incessantly suggesting things we are unaware of the implications of making. So 1. Modding/UE4 Engine thread. Also, maybe in this or another thread, perhaps we can make a "source material" sub? I imagine posts like "Terrain: Afghanistan", "Weapons: US", "Apparel:Camouflage", "Flora and Fauna: Iraq", "Wounding: Terminal Ballistics" and people can aggregate all their picture and video materials as a searchable picture and data reference. It would be cool eye-candy, and it could kinda help us all get a common vision for what afghanistan really looks like or what weapons are out there, etc. It would need to be fastidiously groomed, and ideally it would end up being our wiki of sorts, but yeah, it could be cool. so 2: Source/Reference Materials --- anyways, time for festivities. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday. To the future /raises glass
  16. I suggest you to create two sections for the forum. One concerning the suggestions accepted, the other one for the suggestions refused.
