Forum Rules 07/06/2016Introduction The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party. Section I: Posting Rules §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users. §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with. §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time. §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics, etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal. §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest. §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs. §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense. §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
§9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
§10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge. §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings. §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed. Section II: Reporting & Moderation §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments. §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules. §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly. §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

Lio posted a topic in QuestionsI cant play Squad - Public Testing, i cant even download it: & Help?
Will Squad have a system where the clients will download the used mods on the server upon joining? Or will servers have to set aside different content packs such as ARMA? I know a developer said that the team was going to observe and learn from other games, but the answer was somewhat ambiguous and I was wondering if anyone, developer, player, moderator, whomever had anymore information on the topic. Thanks in advance.
My pc was wiped after installing the squad pre alpha (not related) so i lost everything. was looking to get back into squad and cant seem to get a link. im looking on forum and people are saying redeem code on steam but my SL Key isnt working and i dont know what else to try as i cant find any other codes. some help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
This post is outdated - since Steam Early Access you can no longer download Squad via Torrent. What is Torrent? Torrent, or more correctly called "BitTorrent", is a protocol for peer-to-peer file sharing (see Wikipedia for more information). In order to download files with Torrent, you need to use a Torrent client. A large number of Torrent clients exist. Torrent is frequently used on the Internet nowadays, particuarly when downloading large files. Torrent download normally has the advantage that it is faster and more reliant than a direct download. Instead of downloading from a single source - a server far far away, where all users attempt to download at the same time, you download from peers in your region or with fast network access. You can also download simultaneously from multiple peers. All this is handled automatically by the Torrent client. Of course it assumes that enough seeding is available (see very end of this post on seeding). If no seeding is available, direct download might be faster. I would recommand either using Deluge (Wikipedia, Homepage for download) or µTorrent (Wikipedia, Homepage for download). Deluge is open-source and entirely adware-free, µTorrent includes ads which you can only remove when you pay for µTorrent. Also, when going through the installation of µTorrent you have to take care not to include the crap it will try to install as well. However, µTorrent is among the most often used clients on the Internet. Decide which Torrent client you want to use and download and install it on your computer. ComedyInK has written instructions on how to use Deluge here. If you want to use µTorrent, follow the instructions below. All Torrent clients work very similarly though. Careful, from the Squad Alpha Portal you download only the Torrent configuration file (Wikipedia) for the Torrent client. This file is very small and is used by a Torrent client to start the actual download of the Squad zip file. How to use µTorrent for downloading Squad? Start µTorrent. The start screen looks like this. You can start a Torrent download either by providing a Torrent configuration file (click on the plus symbol) or by pointing to a web address (URL) that provides the Torrent configuration (click on the hyperlink symbol). If you want to download via Torrent configuration file, you need to download the file from the Squad Alpha Portal first and then feed it to µTorrent. If you choose the web address option, enter the link to Squad's Torrent configuration. You can copy & paste the link directly from the Squad Alpha Portal and click OK. The web address option is the easiest and fastest way to download. Confirm the Torrent configuration screen below with OK. Download starts. Wait until the download is finished. Now you have the Squad zip file downloaded. You find it in your download folder. You can also just double-click the zip file in µTorrent and it will open your download folder. If a warning pops up, click "continue". Here it is - your downloaded Squad zip file, ready to be installed. On how to install Squad please refer to the Squad manual. A final notes To help others from the Squad community to download Squad via Torrent, you should seed your download. Seeding is a term used with Torrents and refers to making your download available to other Torrent users in the Torrent network. Torrent is based on peer-to-peer file sharing. Other Torrent users will download from other Torrent users close to them instead of downloading the files from a central server. All you need to do in order to seed: after you finished the download, let the Torrent client continue running, don't close it. It will automatically start seeding. Please do this also for following days - just start your Turrent client when you PC is running. After a new Squad build was made available, lots of people will be downloading in for the following days. Contribute to the community be providing Torrent seeding. This will help Squadies in your region to download Squad faster than without your help. Thanks. Active seeding looks like this:
chaseo2 posted a topic in Software SupportI bought the game last night off Steam for $40 and immediately tried to download it. After the game was "successfully" downloaded I went to play it and got an error. The error says "Failed to start game (missing executable)." I have re-downloaded the game several times on different drives (and reinstalled Steam along with it), I have deleted the acf files, ran Steam as an administrator, turned off my Firewall while downloading the game, and verified the game cache. Nothing worked.. I have tried every possible solution several times and I am still unable to play the game. There is no Squad.exe file or application anywhere on my computer. It does install an icon on my desktop, however. It says the file is 116.8 MB too, is this correct? I can play Arma 3 off of Steam without any problems. I am really angry that I spent $40 on this "amazing" game and I can't even play it. Please help me, I'm open to any suggestions. Please don't tell me to do anything I have already stated, unless you know for sure it will work.
When i try and download the prereq "Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013" i clicked download, choose x64 and nothing happens, the download never starts, please help As well, (i guess me not having the aforementioned file) when i try to run the guame from the .exe it gives the the CreateProcess() returned 2 error
I got my key for squad and registered and everything and got to the actual part where I got to the portal and had to download the game. And I'm extremely confused on how to download it. If I download the DirectX End User runtimes it downloads around 157 rar files and I can't download the Visual C++ files for some reason it wont let me. And none of the rars for the direct x end user run times contain a setup .exe for squad nor does there seem to be a download link for the game itself on the portal...or does the big red letters of ALPHA DOWNLOAD COMING SOON mean that there wont be a download link until later....? I've never done a closed alpha or a prealpha or anything I've always been in betas and I'm not very good with computers so I'm kind of at a loss on what to do here...
Dear Developers, I downloaded your game last Friday (7/24) and all was fine. I installed the game and played it with no problems at all. But yesterday I went to play it and the executable application was missing from my squad folder. I redownloaded the entire package to replace it but it froze up my download right around when it was nearly finished (I used Firefox's pre-installed download manager). Using a download manager I got the executable redownloaded, but when I went to extract it from the zip file it said that the file was corrupted and couldn't be accessed. The problem seems to be with the download, as it downloaded the other files perfectly fine, and its the application that wasn't working correctly. If there's any suggestions you can provide to get it working again, or another download link you can give me, please do so. I don't know why it worked one day and suddenly stopped working from then on. Thank you, Josh (MDPS) EDIT: I seem to be the only one having this issue so you could just PM me if you would prefer. Thanks!
