      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

      Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
      Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
      If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
      As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
      Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
      Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
      Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
      Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
      Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here. 
        §10 Images in posts
      When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
      .gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
      Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
      Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
      Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
      It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
      There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
      Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
      Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
      Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
      If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
      You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. Hello! I'm quite a new player and though I currently got little of gameplay, I got in to the range, and I knew I liked the game. Here's what I got out of the game, stuff I think are great, but also could use something more. New to the game, not new to military stuff and MilSim in general. - The Sound Design. It is great, sounds like the weapons and explosions really have kick in them. I do think the game could use an ear protection system, like active ear protection if that is not too much to program. Active ear protection being meant to dampen the sound when the decibels when they get too high, and others could have ear plugs or no ear protection at all. -Player movement. The player movement is solid, though you could use just a tiny bit more speed, somewhere like 2-5% in the current content build ID: 3396105. Plus maybe a weight system in addition. The characters seem to be having a bit of overweight underneath all the gear they have including weapon. Sure 2-5% is a really small amount, but I do think a soldier could move a bit faster than that. - Customization. I was hoping that we could get more customization. It does seem to be a bit lacking if I'm honest. Some sides of course don't have the same amount of gear and such available as US, UK or Russia, but those sides would do well with the customization options. Lighter gear, such as chest rigs and such should in my opinion be available for the previously mentioned teams. Balaclavas are also often used by militaries, so that is also what I would like to have. In addition to the Customization could open the weight system. Gear obviously weighs you down, most of the weight comes from the bulletproof vests. Changing them around would be nice, to a JPC or a Chestrig with just a covert vest with NIJ Level IIIA plates. I realize designing them would be difficult, but that would just be great if we had those abilities. These modern bulletproof vests are fairly new inventions relative to warfare itself, but men aren't sent without protection on the field. - Gunplay. The Gunplay in this game seems pretty good. I look forward to what new stuff happens. See you on the battlefield!
  2. Traditionally with BF2: PR weapon and character customisation was limited. I wanted to suggest a system similar to the one they have in Insurgency, if of course any of this is possible (I do not know the limitations of the UE4 engine) Each option adds to the overall weight of the soldier, thus changing performance (running speed, jump height etc), but maybe without the need for a supply point based system. Either ttachments can be earned (level up rewards ala old school CoD4).

    Hello. This thread will be a platform to share my inofficial, clientside userscripts specifically created for the joinsquad forums. I called the project Joinsquad_JS, and if any of you guys want to contribute or add to the project in any way (by the same licensing background -> everything open source and GPLv3), then get on github and just do it! Anyways, I've created a lot more scripts for the old forum but that was about 4 months ago and now all of the scripts are outdated or some functions have already been implemented in the new forum software. Therefore I started from scratch, and even though not every script is perfect (missing customization GUI etc. etc.) I will add the scripts I create into this thread so it's all at one place.     I personally thing it would be really cool if they added a player customization to the game. I don't mean over the top pink camp and bright colored clothing, etc. I would rather see customization that reflects real world solders. More realistic and historic in other words. When you look at footage of soldiers, you usually don't see all the soldiers wearing the exact same stuff. It would be cool if we could some what personalize out kits within reason of course. Maybe change out for a different type of helmet, chest rig, pants, etc. maybe even going far enough as to being able to personally but mag pouches where you want them. maybe some sort of mole system maybe.
  5. Weapons: I think it would be amazing if squad had some sort of customization feature in the future. For American weapons, adding different sights to suit your play style, rail mounts such as green NV lasers so when nightvision becomes a thing you can see where teammates are aiming, rail flashlights (maybe in combination with the laser), different types of stocks to increase mobility and accuracy, different types of magazines such as magpul, forward grips, and maybe the option to add a suppressor. And for the other sides with AK's and what not, again adding sights to fit play style, option (for russians) to switch the standard support to a rail system and add all the American things i mentioned (A.K.A. Tactical AK), different stocks (folding, none, tactical, and standard), different magazines such as drums, and again the option for a suppressor.
  6. Just a few ideas

    I want to start off with this game is awesome. I just have a few ideas about customization and surroundings. Weapons- I think that you should be able to equip attachments. 2 out of 5 is sufficient. Things such as red dot(optics), grip, extended mag, quick eject and laser. Only possible to pick 2 attachments at a time though. Soldier Customization- Nothing crazy just like race, sex, goggles on or off, gloves on or off. Just small things like that. Weather-Random dust storms that last 2-10 minutes in one spot but carries over the map as it goes slowly. Also intensity of these dust storms vary.(rain same) I would also like to see random sprint stumble. Not jogging ever but sprinting over certain areas of rock that is obviously really rocky causes a 3 second trip delay(more like a stumble) I am full of ideas, but if any of this is implemented then I believe that it will make the game more fun.
  7. Note: This topic is the result of a debate and conclusions drawn over an older topic I posted a few months ago. Suggestions for increased persistence Points and ranks 1. Make a point/xp system for things like squad score, team score, etc., as well as a separate counter for each vehicle type for vehicle-specific customizations (see 9.) based primarily on mission success (number of lased CAS runs etc.) 2. Make ranks, with military markings (unlocked by total earned xp) that change based on rank, on the actual in-game character model, as well as next to your name. Example: <TEAM>*Sgt.icon*Sgt. Ostboll: OMG don't fire AA near team air u dense f***!!1!1 Alternatively, rank and unlocks could perhaps be unlocked after a certain skill level, like KDR+team score per minute+revives per minute, or something like that. Spectator mode and tournaments 3. For big league/tournament games, maybe add a spectator mode? (with delay, duh) 4. Arrange lots of tournaments and make sure the game is tournament/event friendly. Personalization, achievements, bragging rights and soldier and vehicle customizations 5. Add options for unlockable additional character aesthetic customization (obviously not a different type uniform, but attaching grass/branches to the helmet, wearing a beret/boonie, face paint etc.). 6. Add achievements (that do not affect gameplay) either like the steam achievements, or like the BF medals, or a hybrid. 7. Make achievement badges displayable on the uniform (as ribbons/skill identifier badges). 8. Give the crewman and pilot helmets a few unlockable options as well like flames, a flag, etc. 9. Add unlockable nose art and personalization for vehicles, like shark mouths on A-10s, kill counters (painted burning tanks for instance) on aircraft, and maybe even some custom text (with fixed font size, colour etc. of course to avoid less serious customizations). Why? General Squads predecessor is lacking in something that most shooters have today: a reward and bragging right system. Squad could become the tactical shooter and could bring my favourite genre to the mic-using public. But to become the flagship of teamplay, there needs to be rewards and persistence. Otherwise it would be hard to make Squad grow big. Therefore, I believe some of the above suggestions are not only needed to make the game grow bigger, but they'd also be f***ing awesome. For each suggestion: 1.-2. A higher rank is nice bragging rights, and a neat rough indication to other players on your skill level. 3. I don't know about you, but watching an intense battle in some clan v. clan finals with commentators sounds pretty awesome to me. 4. Making the game and servers tournament friendly would allow for loads of community events and tournaments. 5. Additional face paint/helmet camo (that still looks like the correct team) adds bragging rights and variety. 6. For the reward system. Duh. 7. Bragging rights, personalization, etc. 8. You don't want a patriotic themed custom paint job pilot helmet with bald eagles and fireworks? 9. I always wanted to write "I'm gonna free the sh*t out of you" on my tank.
  8. Another feature you can add to the game is customization of not only weapons, but vehicles too. You can maybe use the same principal as to Insurgency uses, like the point system. Different attachments cost different amounts of points. You can add things like Suppressors, flashlights, lasers sights, holos, red dots, grips, launchers and all sorts of things you can think of. The way you can acumulate points is by capturing positions, taking out enemies, or healing one of your teammates. This would be amazing to see on the day it comes out.
