Forum Rules 07/06/2016Introduction The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party. Section I: Posting Rules §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users. §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with. §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time. §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics, etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal. §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest. §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs. §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense. §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
§9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
§10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge. §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings. §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed. Section II: Reporting & Moderation §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments. §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules. §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly. §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

so as i understand it the devs moved the game to a new version of unreal, this obviously brings loads of complications and workload on the team. i was just wondering if there was any official statement on the current progress to getting the game back up. i keep insta-crashing as soon as the game launches, just wanted to make sure thats how its suppost to be for the time being. thx in advance.
My game has consistently been crashing since V12. When a game finishes and a new one begins I spawn in and have low frames. My frames are then fine for a minute followed by a huge 20 second lag spike. Once again my game is fine then it suddenly crashes to desktop with no error message. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game as well as cleared my user cache data via settings in game, neither has helped. My graphics are set way below what my PC can handle. Pre V12 my game was fine.
Aircraft are relatively complicated vehicles to operate compared to land based vehicles. Despite this a lot of new players are attracted to the idea of operating them, but very few of them take the time to read the manual and practise before jumping in on a live server. Helicopters and aircraft in general are vital for a team and losing them due to new players jumping in, crashing them and then leaving the server will take a toll. You have to wait 10-20 minutes for the next one to respawn, you lose X amount of tickets and you lose the ability to resupply and transport squads around the map. If any of you have played Project Reality you already know this happens quite frequently. But now imagine in a game like Squad where even more casual players flow into the game. We should try to avoid the loss of helicopters and aircraft as much as possible. I suggest adding a startup procedure to turn on the engine of the respective aircraft. This startup procedure will be detailed in the manual along with more information on how to operate the aircraft. If a player takes the time to read this section of the manual, in order to turn on the aircraft he will be a lot more likely to actually have practised and know how to use the aircraft. A better alternative would of course be a sort of 'training' system, that won't allow you to operate a vehicle before you've completed some challenges but developing this would require a lot of ressources and time from the developing team. The start up procedure is a lot more cost-efficient for the team. There will still be people who can read up on the start up procedure without having practised operating the aircraft, but it will limit a lot of cases where people just jump straight into the aircraft. I apologize if this has already been suggested, I tried searching but didn't find another thread on the matter.
Been getting the error stating i'm running out of video memory trying to allocate a texture. This always seems to happen at the most inopportune times, and there is no coming back as it crashes my whole game. Anyone else experiencing this? A way to fix. my specs GTX 1070 8gb 8gb ddr4 ram 1tb hdd i5 6400
I've been having this problem for a while, even before 9.6, but after the update I can't play a full match without Squad suddenly closing as if I had pressed [Alt+F4]. No error messages pop up. The logs themselves have more errors and warnings than normal processes. Yes, I've verified Steam files, reinstalled Dx, cleared local cache data, etc. One warning in particular that occurs every time is a "LogParticles:Warning: Stalled gamethread waiting for particles" that has to do with "BTR80_Temperature_Parameterized.BTR80_Temperature_Parameterize" on every map. I've also submitted support tickets but haven't gotten any feedback, so I'm posting here too. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I am having problems with easy anti cheat. Upon launch or soon after I receive the error EasyAntiCheat Error: Unknown file version (squad\paks\pakchunk0-windowsnoeditor.pak) and my game will eventually close a random amount of time later. I have tried using the setup tool, uninstalling and repairing it. Uninstalling the game. Making sure that it is on my firewall. Running the game, and launcher in administrator mode. I don't know what else i can do to fix.
So I bought squad and when I first booted it up it wasn't responding so I looked up how to fix it i deleted squad in the USER/Appdata fix and that did nothing and then i deleted and reinstalled I restarted steam and verified the game cache and I booted it in windowed mode and it still doesn't work
Game freezes on start up. It will go to quick start guide with key bindings say loading top right. It will freeze there. Then when I use CTRL, SHIFT, ESC to go to task manager it just makes the screen black and can't access anything. Have to force restart, which just hurts me every time :). System Specs: 6700K Asus 1080 Strix 1TB SSD 2TB HDD 32GB g.skill RAM Asus Z170 Sabertooth Mobo I have tried restarting steam and PC as well as verifying game files. Anti Virus has been turned off. I have logs and crashreport clients. Where should I send them?
Gormyo posted a topic in Software SupportMy game keeps crashing on me after a few minutes of playing. I have reinstalled drivers and restarted PC, but I still have this issue. I am currently verifying game cache, only option I can think of next is just to reinstall. I'd like to avoid that though because where I'm staying currently it will take me another 3 hours to install. I have an AMD FX-8320 Eight-Core Processor 3.5GHz 8GB RAM and a GTX-660. I have over 70 fps but still for some reason I will crash every few minutes. Any information on how to fix this issue would be great. I have posted this on the Discord server and no response yet, hoping the forums will have faster response.
Hi, I've been playing squad without issue (besides the typical fatal errors) for the last couple of months. I downloaded the latest update 7.3 and played without issue until Saturday 09/03. Since that date I have had a total computer freeze requiring me to restart my computer from the Crtl-Alt-Dtl screen. This freeze always seems to be on the loading screen where the keyboard is displayed. It completely freezes the loading bar and nothing happens until I restart. At this time I am also not able to navigate away from the program using shortcuts or the task manager. I have verified local properties multiple times. I deleted all local files and completely re-downloaded the game and I have also ensured that my system and all of my drivers are up to date. I have gone through the recommended changes on the stickied freeze post such as closing different background programs however that has not had any effect. Thanks for everyone's help. I hope to get this figured out as I do love playing this game.
4/18/2016 - Offworld + EAC are working hard to fix this issue. As of right now the only known solution is to install steam onto another HDD/SSD and run the game from it instead. 4/7/2016 - Issue may still be present. We need more affected users to report in. Personally my problem has been fixed as of yesterday but a user who had his problem fixed is having the long loading times issue again a day later. 4/6/2016 - Issue has been reportedly fixed as the long loading times has gone from 3+ minutes to a mere minute. We're guessing it was the EAC overlay update that happened this week as no other update happened. You might be having some seriously long loading times when starting the game, or joining a match which is why you sought out this thread. Unfortunately, the bizarre 'Long loading times' issue still remains months later after the creation of this thread. Off-world has responded that they are activity trying to solve this issue and it's "on the list" for V6. We have determined the issue to be related to Hard Drives/EAC but it's most certainly an issue on the game/devs side and not ours. Currently the only working solution is to install steam into another HDD/SSD and run the game from it instead. ***REMINDER*** Loading times issue affects the following: extremely long loading times, much lower FPS, unloaded textures, and eventually crashing while in-game. Thanks to all the users inside this thread for commenting for helping raise the alarms on this bizarre issue. ----------------- ORIGINAL POST -------------------- 4-Minutes to start the game. 4-Minutes to join a game. CRASH! //My first thread on these forums//Be kind// >w< OR ELSE I SHOOT YOU! +) I have been completely unable to play the game in the past 72-hours. This is mostly due to extremely long loading times, which may be causing these other issues: lower FPS, unloaded textures, and eventually crashing while in-game. Here is the original thread: Game won't start/launch - PG.07+ contains other users who have said the latest patch did not fix the loading times. This thread is branching off another to highlight a much deeper issue which seems to have been passed by. No official word updating us on the situation has been made since the recent EAC patch yesterday which allowed users to start the game up. Everything was believed to be Hunky Dory (not the case for some like me) and has forced me to create a new thread, putting closer attention on the issues beyond users not being unable to start the game at all. Keep in mind all of these issues randomly happened overnight and tons of people were generally having the same issue. I believe all problems are linked to the issue that was believed to be fixed earlier. Something happened... but what exactly? (EAC is the easiest thing to blame) =p When faced with this issue for the first 48-hours... my first reaction was~ 3-days later and after a fix claiming everything was dandy again raised some alarms, because my problem (and some others) still remains unfixed. The Issue: Some of us struggle to load the game and take up to 5-minutes to simply start the game, and the issue is far more critical than just additional loading times. Here is a low quality video created to show visual proof of the super slow loading times Attempted fixes which didn't work: verified integrity, reinstalled EAC, and re-downloaded the entire game, waited for all of this to blow over first 48H /insert Current promising 'Fix' (that I cannot take part in) - Move Squad game files to a second HDD/SSD and if you don't have one then you're out of luck! CPU: FX-8350*4.5Ghz GPU: R9-280x*OC RAM: 8GB RES* 1600x900 HD: Western Digital 7200RPM 500GB OS: WIN-7 64-bit Re-Re-Highlighting the additional issues, which have arisen in the past 72-hours, and still remain a major problem which needs addressed: extremely long loading times, much lower FPS, unloaded textures, and eventually crashing while in-game. I'm not sure what else to do at this point, and hope other users with the same unfortunate issue will come in this thread, and help raise the alarms. So we can get more attempted fixes at this very real issue for some. Thank you for taking the time to read this thread and our random came-out-of-nowhere issues.
Hello Squaders! System Specs Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Intel LGA1150 Z97 ATXCPU: Intel i7 4790K @ 4GHzMemory: 2x8GB DDR3 @ 1866MHzGPU: Radeon R9 390 8GB (stock clock - MSI)Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 250GBMonitor: BenQ XL2411 (144Hz Monitor)AMD Catalyst Driver Version: 15.7.1 Like many of you after months of high anticipation I finally got my hands on the closed-Alpha of Squad. The first game I played ran very smoothly after reducing some settings (dem shadows). After my second game though (I closed the game in-between) I experienced some random crashes with a message warning me that my GPU driver crashed. What happend in more details is that at random points in-game my game will freeze, I lose control, and after a few seconds the game goes dark and then closes with the warning message then popping up. Now since then I have updated my AMD Catalyst driver to Version 15.7.1 (the latest non-beta), I have reduced all my settings to medium and I tried the usual rebooting & checking the troubleshooting section of the Closed-Alpha download page. Doing so changed nothing and if anything made the crashes more prominent. I later foolishly changed my refresh rate from 120Hz to 60Hz using Catalyst Control Centre and I now freeze (not crash) on the login menu. After reverting back the freeze is still present. As you can expect I am very frustrated by this and I really want to help in anyway I can. If you experience similar issues please comment on this post in the hope of getting the attention of a developer/someone with a fix. I will answer any questions as quick as I can and of course will update with any solutions I find. Thank you TL;DR: Constant 'random' GPU driver crashes in game and with now some freezes at the login menu. Running an AMD card. Latest Catalyst Drivers. If I can even get in-game, it will crash sooner than later. Reduced all settings, changed some driver options, still crashes. Update 1: After a suggestion by a Redditor I have updated my GPU drivers (AMD Catalyst) to the beta one (15.8). This made me go past the Login Page freeze and actually got me to play a whole game! Though after the second game (dejas-vu...) my game started having GPU Driver Crashes again. The map where I crashed was a daytime map and was a very open one, with a lot going on on the screen (I don't know the map name). I reduced all my settings to minimum (except for textures on Medium - come on I have 8GB vram) and I still had the driver crash. The search continues...
