      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here.
        §10 Images in posts
When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
.gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. Up until very recently, I didn't think that the massive influx of new players was all that bad. I was pretty well used to short periods of horrible gameplay that would eventually level out as people got the hang of the game. I enjoyed helping new players. Now it seems that on many servers this isn't the case. I can only see this getting worse. These players aren't new anymore. They have been playing the game for a few months. They seem to be set in their ways. I used to be pretty idealistic on this topic. I used to figure that everything would be fine if people who know how to play the game just 'lead by example'. I figured that most people would just fall in line and everything would be peachy. Now I have pretty well reversed. It is getting to the point where it is almost too far gone. Too many experienced players are giving up. I've almost gotten to the point myself. Go back a year, year and a half ago and it still seemed like the majority of the community followed a common mindset. They understood that they needed to stick together. It wasn't perfect but maybe half of them waited at least a little bit for a medic. Squad leads communicated between each other. They discussed what they want to do before the match started. We can argue about game play changes that need to be made all day. There are countless threads on this. Lets forget about those changes for now, leave it for all those other threads. and discuss what we can do on a community level. My question is, how do we re instill this common mind set again? We shouldn't have to try to herd cats. It shouldn't be the norm to constantly have to keep asking players to stick together. There is no reason to need to babysit players. It shouldn't be the norm for people to regularly go off on their own. People should wait for medics and you sure as heck shouldn't need to ask players to switch of marksman to pick up a med kit! It should be expected that the majority of the squad understands these simple concepts. If you are genuinely new to the game and don't understand it is understandable but after 10 hours you should have learned by then! If it was only a couple of players in a squad that had to be held by the hand it could be managed but when it gets to the point of half the squad just doing their own thing it gets to be unsustainable. You can get away with kicking a player or two for not making an attempt at following directions but you can't do it for the entire Squad. What are other things that every squad player need to understand? What are rules to the game that should never be dropped? What is the baseline that almost every player should follow in order to help get this game going back into the direction that we want? I don't want to get burned out of the game and give up like so many people have done. I still have fun with the game but it is getting harder and harder to do so.

  4. We would like to officially invite you to join ACM (The Armchair Militia). ACM formed to bring together a community of players that want to play Squad as well as various other games. ACM is currently looking to fill our ranks with both casual and competitive players. ACM has created connections with multiple other communities in Squad and other games to participate and create events for the masses. Weekly events are posted in our discord and everyone is welcome to participate. ACM has a competitive division and a casual division which are mutually exclusive. Competitive participation is not a requirement of ACM. Casual players are more than welcome to join and participate in competitive training as well as other events (other than competitive scrims) but participation in these events are not a requirement. Competitive players are deemed with a few more responsibilities than our casual players. As a competitive player you will be required to show up to training's, dry-runs, scrims as well as a few other requirements that will be further explained if you chose to join the competitive team. The details will be further explained if you express interest in the competitive division. ACM encourages improvement and strives to create a fun environment for all our members. In order to do this, there are a few rules which every member must follow. This is to ensure a quality and constructive environment as we understand most people are here simply to have fun. Rules for all members are as follows: When playing Squad, we ask that you be in our discord to let our members see you are active and playing. All members must wear their assigned tags in a game while playing Squad. You can do this from the In-Game prefix setting for your tags or you can change your steam name to add said tag the choice is yours. Being a part of multiple clans is frowned upon. If you are part of ACM do not be part of another group as this interferes with Tactics, Strategies, as well as comradely. Be Respectful to all players. It does not matter what server you are on, or discord. We do not tolerate Toxicity or racism of any form. If you are disrespectful to anyone internal or external to ACM, you will be removed. Remember, once you are part of ACM your words and actions reflect on ACM. Perks of joining ACM; We have multiple servers for training purposes and public use. As of now we have 1 custom server for our own training and scrim purposes that we can use at any time to polish our skills or test out vics/weapons. We also have an official public server for everyone to enjoy playing Squad. Along with our own servers we carry multiple white-list privileges with many other top servers on squad. We also host custom game events for Halo and CSGO and have a flourishing Escape from Tarkov community. If interested please contact us or join our discord at ACM Discord and get in contact with any member of management to follow through the recruitment stages. -[ACM] Ibelligerant

  6. Squad Philippines [PH] - Active Community! [ENG/FIL] Hello, and Mabuhay everyone! Are you a Filipino gamer based somewhere around the world, or someone who is based in the Philippines, and is looking for an active Philippine community that plays Squad? Tara, sumali na kayo dito sa "Squad PH"! Squad PH/Philippines was started by a member of the ArmA Philippines Community (ArmA PH) as a sidegroup of that community around 3 years ago. Initially, most of the players in Squad PH were ArmA PH players. However though, our players now also include people who have come from playing Squad initially, or from other games. Since then, the numbers have been growing, to the point where we have enough players every night to field a squad or two, possibly even three pinoy squads! We are a Community Clan/Group, therefore we play casually (most of our players always look to blow off some Steam /:) ) and maintain a casual and easygoing environment, but from time to time we have friendly competitive matches with other Asian-based clans. Sometimes we even have training sessions (on our own [PH] Training Server] to further help new (or even not new) players learn the mechanics of Squad in a relaxed environment and culture. While we do not have our own server for public play, we instead band together in other public servers (usually in SG, AUS, or Western US servers) every night. Requirements: 1) Be a mature, culturally sensitive person (Remember that we play with other Asian clans/players. Be nice as well to the PH community!) 2) Join our Discord, the "Squad PH Community" Discord (PM me for the link, don't be shy! Sige na pleeease? ) -Having a mic is not required, but it is highly encouraged ingame! Once you do, we will give you links to the following: -Facebook Group / FB Messenger Groupchat -Steam Groupchat That's all. Tara na, sali na kayo! Laban na! ~[PH] DrooBloo Member of Squad PH

To join [FaT], You must meet these requirements: 18 years of age or older Have a microphone (Obviously) Leave all drama/childish behavior elsewhere Be active on discord Understand there's a difference between "fun" and "trolling" Show respect to other members (We don't expect you to love everyone, but don't show it) Must be able to speak fluid English http://steamcommunity.com/groups/FearandTerror https://discord.gg/e7tX7HC -------------------------Staff------------------------- Director: [FaT] BigJimmyHD Managers: [Position Open] Administrators: [FaT] turtlesoup [FaT] Bacca Moderators: [Position Open] -------------------------Members------------------------- Leaders: [Position Open] Regulars: [FaT] BIOS [FaT] Sarge Foster [FaT] adamdiehard [FaT] Destroyer [FaT] King Greifer Recruits: [FaTr] KnightHawk [FaTr] RazerKutz [FaTr] retecer [FaTr] Yomama [FaTr] Hangman's Noose [FaTr] JackImpact [FaTr] Flophouse *We are growing at a very rapid pace, some ranks/people may not be added.* As Fear and Terror grows, so will our involvement. Here's my plan for the road ahead. Stage 1: Grow members and play (and win) casual games and other events. Focus on growing with quality, not quantity. Establish a player base and staff team that is top tier and ready to grow and progress. Stage 2: Begin competing in competitive Squad events. Focus on getting better and making a strong name for ourselves. Stage 3: Server and Event Hosting. In addition to competitive gaming, [FaT] will focus on hosting unique server-wide events that push squad to its' limits. It's difficult to elaborate without ideas being stolen, but big plans here. *As of now, we are at Stage 1. What this means is positions for involvement are open and growth is inevitable.* Fear and Terror is a no-bullshit, drama free environment that only allows maturity and teamwork within its' members. If you're sick of playing Squad with bad SquadLeaders and trolls, [FaT] is the group for you. If you are just starting to play Squad, but are dedicated towards improvement, our members will guide you towards the victory you desire. If you want to be a larger part of the group, and join the staff team, there are many positions available and will become more and more valuable as the group grows. Thank you for considering your involvement. -BigJimmyHD (Founder & Director of [FaT]) Please stop by the discord or message me personally if you have any questions/concerns about Fear and Terror.
  15. (We are hardcore casual, we don't train to compete. We train to dominate servers) So you want to be a Renegade? You think you're among the best and brightest squad has to offer? Just a few things you need to understand before you put in that pretty little resume. We're not your typical clan. Of the ones who request entry only 20% are accepted. If you are accepted you will undergo training to sharpen your reaction time, aim, and teamwork. Lonewolves, leave it at the door. The teams are all about teamwork. Three phases of training, 10 events 1 hour a piece, that can be completed in any order. Stealth, CQB, Field Ops are the three phases. All 10 events must be completed before you earn your tag. There is no timeline to complete this. However, you may not lead a Renegade Squad without the tags. Milsim is not in our DNA, we use military tactics only to the point of efficacy. Real world tactics rely on 4 of the 5 senses to work efficiently on the battlefield, in FPS you have two of those. Thus, if a tactic doesn't work, Its removed from our playbook. We aren't here to look pretty for videos or reenact blackhawk down. We're here to win. Which brings me to my next point, ranks don't exist in our group. Your peers respect are your rank. They don't like you, don't expect them to follow you. Each month members are given one red card they CAN use to eliminate a bad apple. 70% of the group must drop red cards in order to boot you. The Renegade with the most qualifications always has priority on Squad Lead, each weapon in squad has a Renegade Qualification course, this includes your mind in Tactics and Strategy. Your certs are your resume to lead. Not time based, buddy system ranks handed out like candy. Still interested? Hah, we'll see how long your motivation last. 16. I've played a lot of V12 during the last weekend and I like the new features like RAAS and the tanks but some of the new stuff turns out to be really annoying and should never have been implemented in this game. Calling out enemy positions in Squad channel is sometimes quite tough sometimes depending on your location as you always have to find spots you can refer to. This can be hard at times but is something that you can definitely learn and improve by just playing the game for longer than 2 hours. This new kind of ping marker for everyone takes away a huge amount of the game's most important thing - Communication. It just results in players saying things like "enemys / FOB on my ping" and makes the game even more casual and accessible by reducing the overall learning curve, which wasn't really necessary. In general the new UI changes are unneccessary and just too much, the map gives too much information now, like FOB circles, FOB supply point stats and more which destroys the immersion at least partially. Leave those things to the players! Let them talk! The only good thing I see about that is, that the Squadleaders role gets a little relieved by that. But the Squadleader role was always stressful and that's something you should be able to live with and also something that you can improve by doing it more often. Squad is already accessible enough, it just looks like the devs are desperatly trying to acquire more potential buyers by making those kind of changes, but this ruins the game for those who love the game for what it does best - Teamplay & Communication!

  25. After familiarizing myself with squad and having lots of fun in the process, I decided to put my server to use on the game. I'm able to easily run 80 slots, but without any fellow squad players to seed the server, it is difficult to get players and set up some of the events I was hoping to do. I'm a mature player with a teamwork oriented mindset and I'd love to join a clan that is both mature and not afraid of having some fun.
