      Forum Rules   07/06/2016

      Introduction   The Squad Team reserves the right to edit, update, add and remove rules at any time. Applicable rules extend to the PM system. Your PMs are private, but the Squad Team may be informed about unacceptable PM content by the receiving party.   Section I: Posting Rules   §1 Show Respect This community can only work if we all respect each other. To that end, it is imperative that any time you engage with another user, either directly or indirectly, you show them respect with the content of your post. In particular refrain from flaming, insulting, abusing, taunting, racism, and other similar types of actions towards other forum users.   §2 Attitude & Behavior Poor attitude and behavior are the most common ways a negative / unsafe environment is created and perpetuated. As such that kind of behavior will not be allowed on these forums. Please be mindful of this rule when posting personal positions and opinions regarding topics which could be considered contentious in nature. As a rule of thumb, keep your posts civil in nature, and refrain from making posts that are likely to incite arguments and create a negative environment. As a privately hosted web forum we reserve the right to maintain an environment that we are happy the majority of our players are comfortable with.   §3 Swearing While we will not strictly moderate every little swear that occurs, please try to avoid excessive bad language. The moderation reserves the right to remove rants and unsuitable content at any time.   §4 Illegal Topics
      Prohibited topics include, but are not limited to: Piracy, drugs (including cannabis), pornography, religion, racism, sexism, homo/trans -phobic content, videos and images showing violent death or serious injury, ‘spam threads’, hacking & griefing (endorsement thereof), religion, politics,  etc. Prohibition may be suspended for some threads if they are found to be suitable by the Moderation (such as scientific debate).
      If there is doubt, the Moderation Team can decide whether a topic is considered illegal.   §5 Attitude towards Squad and the Development Team
      As per §1 and §2, keep in mind to be respectful and reasonable, not only towards all users of the forum, but also towards the Squad Team and towards any ideas and content and the game itself. Criticism is welcome, but if it is not constructive and/or if it is offensive, the Moderation may need to step in. Please refrain from posting if you are upset, angry or drunk, or you may be punished for things you wouldn’t have otherwise written, which is not in anyone's interest.   §6 Language & Legibility
      Please post only in English. Non-English content (including non-legible content) may be removed. If you see someone posting in another language because s/he apparently does not speak English, please report their post - if you can, you may reply in their language to explain their question, but please do translate their and your message so it can be reviewed by the Moderation. ‘Hiding’ insults in non-English posts will be punished harshly. Posts written largely in ‘leetspeak’ or full of spelling / grammatical errors may be treated like non-English content. This rule does not extend to PMs.   §7 Forum structure & Search
      Please ensure when posting a new thread, that the thread is located inside the correct forum section. Check all forum section titles to judge where your thread should belong. Threads created in the wrong forum section will be moved or deleted.
      Before posting a new thread, please make use of the forum search to find older threads about the same topic. In doubt, it is recommended to rather post in an existing thread, unless that thread is years out of date. However, do not bump old threads without adding a new question / answer / insight that wasn’t in that thread before - use common sense.   §8 Thread Titles
      Please name your thread appropriately; the subject title should sum up / explain the content in the thread. If you fail to name your thread properly (such as ‘Hey!’ or ‘Check this out!’ or ‘Help!’), we will either rename or lock the topic. Repeated offense may lead to infractions. The practice of using CAPITALS only in your thread title is not allowed and will be edited or the thread will simply be deleted. Strange or abnormal Unicode characters should be excluded from thread titles for the sake of being distracting and unnecessary.
      §9 Thread Capitalization
      Please ensure that your post is not in all CAPITALS, as this is not allowed. Any threads posted in all caps will subsequently be removed from the forum. Repeated offenses may lead to infractions against your account. This practice is not approved or accepted here. 
        §10 Images in posts
      When posting images, mind the following restrictions:
      .gifs will be allowed and may be removed by Staff if deemed necessary.
      Maximum size for images is 1280x1024.
      Do not include more than ~1 large image per paragraph of text, unless in image collection / announcement threads. Link to further images.
      Consider posting thumbnails. You may post a few more images per post if they are reasonably small, the details are for the Moderation to judge.   §11 The use of BBCode
      It is allowed to use the BBCode in your posts. Over usage is not allowed. You may use the Bold in a reasonable manner but not for the whole text body. You may use the size feature but in a limited reasonable manner. You may not use any of the additional fonts at all. Color may be used to high light a point but again, not for the whole text body. Moderators will be watching for misuse and will edit when required without giving notice. Continued disregard for this rule will result in Moderator action in the form of warnings.   §12 Complaints of Server/Admin Abuse Reports of server/admin abuse will not be posted publicly. All reports concerning this type of behavior should be place in the appropriate sub-forum. http://forums.joinsquad.com/forum/241-report-server-admin-abuse/ All posts made outside of this area will be be removed.   Section II: Reporting & Moderation   §1 Reporting Posts
      There is a Post Report system in place. If you notice a post that violates forum rules, simply use the exclamation mark icon below the users avatar image to send a report to the Moderation. We will then review this post. Your report will not be made public and cannot be linked to your person by anyone outside of the Squad Team. You will not be punished for using the Report system even if the report was false, unless you repeatedly abuse the system to spam it.
      Do not ‘report’ posts by replying directly in public to them. In case of spambots, this prompts them to respond in turn, spamming the forum further. This also fuels flame wars and arguments.   §2 Reporting Moderators
      Moderators are subject to the same forum rules (and some additional rules / exceptions). If you think that a Moderator has treated you unfairly or is otherwise breaking forum rules, please PM the Lead Moderator or any Administrator. Do not accuse Moderators in public, the Squad Team will treat every complaint seriously and it is in our interest to discipline or remove Moderators who are known to break forum rules.   §3 Respect Squad Team members and Moderators
      Do not ignore or argue against Admin, Moderator or Dev instructions on the forum. If you have a complaint, as per §2, please inform the Team in private. You are expected to follow orders given by the Moderation, Administration and Development Team, and it is necessary for smooth running of the forum to respect their decisions. Being stubborn or ignoring warnings will lead to harsher punishments - however, we do not tolerate Moderator / Admin abuse of power / privileges, so do not hesitate to inform other Team members if you feel treated unfairly.   §4 Bans and multiple accounts
      If your account is temporarily or permanently banned, do NOT create another account. Bypassing a ban will result in further action, and a permanent ban of all of your accounts.
      You are not allowed to have more than one account for any reason. If you share an internet connection with another user who has their own account, it might happen that this account is incorrectly identified as a secondary account - please get in touch with the Moderation or Administration to resolve such issues.

  1. please add this option so I can turn off/on passworded servers
  2. I set up a custom server based on the guide on the Wiki. I'm using a virtual private server hosted by Vultr. I am able to direct connect to my server and play using this command-- start steam://rungameid/393380/ +connect 144.202.90.195:7787 However the server is not showing up in the Squad in-game server browser. The server's name is simply, "[KG]". It is unlicensed, so I am looking on the Custom section of the in-game browser. Here is my Server.cfg file. The directive I assume is what gets my server to show up in the Server Browser is 'ShouldAdvertise' which is already set to 'true'. ServerName="[KG]" MaxPlayers=20 NumReservedSlots=2 IsLANMatch=false ShouldAdvertise=true NumPlayersDiffForTeamChanges=3 AllowTeamChanges=true PreventTeamChangeIfUnbalanced=true EnforceTeamBalance=true RejoinSquadDelayAfterKick=180 RecordDemos=false ServerMessageInterval=300 VehicleClaimingDisabled=true // Forced on for Licensed servers (Only OWI staff & qa are admins) AllowCommunityAdminAccess=false // Forced on for Licensed servers (Only OWI devs) AllowDevProfiling=false // ForceNonSeamlessTravelIntervalSeconds=43200 // 1 day What can I do to troubleshoot this further?

  4. Show tickets left in game browser

    I have a suggestion. Show tickets left in the game browser selection screen. That way you don't have to join the map you've been waiting for 5 min, only to realize it has only 2 tickets left and the next map is not the one you like. Would be most appreciated.

    Hi guys, could someone help me solving those errors? When I try to load my server I have those errors and the server doesn't appear on the server browser list in the game. Thanks in advance for the help!
  6. Hello, I have windows 7 installed on my computer. In the beginning (first 2 months) since squad was released I had no issues with playing the game. It worked pretty well to be honest. Now 2 months ago, I first noticed there where only a few servers to choose from (about 2/3) that popped up in the server browser (in game). Now 1 month ago I starting to get FATAL ERROR message, and the game is shut down immediately when I try to browse servers (in game). I don't know where to find log files or any could anyone point me out where to find these. I know I have to search in the steamapp direactory but yeah where are these damn log files.... I want to provide data for the dev so they can fix it, I know a lot of others are having the same issue. I tried reinstalling, and steam integrity etc. etc. nothing works. Thanks.
  7. Hi guys, So I just brought a server online. It's being hosted in a datacenter, and I'll just go ahead and say the specs aren't the issue. The server has been online for roughly 24 hours now, and I seem to be the only person I know that can see the server. The server is located in Canada and I'm in Georgia, so I don't have some direct connection or anything like that going on. On the server the port 7787/exes are allowed through the firewall, including the squad file in the binaries folder. Has anyone encountered this issue while hosting? Did I miss something in the server setup process/config for making the server play nicer with the browser? Both Screenshots taken at the exact same time - same filtering Server appears to be invisible for friends. Friend's Screen: My Screen: Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. I don't know whether or not this has been said yet, or if I am posting this feedback correctly but I didn't feel like taking the time to scroll through every topic in the forum, so here it is. I decided to say what the hell and bought Squad yesterday on Steam, I was a little hesitant because of the huge price tag for an early access alpha. I gotta say I do not feel that it was worth the money at this time since it is currently almost unplayable, I feel a little cheated. After downloading the game I went through all the first time set up crap via Steam and all seemed well, I get into the game and the menu comes up I go to the server browser, and there is NO filter, no recent history, no favorites, every server is a European server with 500+ ping. After constant refreshing and the server list changing like its having an identity crisis I find a US server with a good ping and space in the game, once I got into a game and actually started playing I loved it, game play is fun, communication system is awesome and the community is great. End round and I'm waiting for the next one to start and black screen followed by a crash, start up the game again, and steam still thinks its a first time set up every time I start the game, so it takes a good 3 min to actually start up. No servers once again, try to join one and the game crashes. After 15 minutes of updating the server list I find the US server I was on again, I join and 5 minutes later the round ends, game crashes. I spent $40 and out of my 3 hours on record I only have about an hour of game time, the rest is restarting the game, and fighting the server browser. I have no problem paying money for a good thing, but right now it is not good, and I just hope these issues are addressed very soon because right now I am warning my friends not to buy it when I would much rather recommend it, hopefully I am not the only one having these issues and they are recognized. Please fix the server browser.
  9. Server browser is empty

    Hey there, I can't seem to find any servers in my server browser, wether the official one nor the community one. I've read that some antivirus programms or firewalls block the game. I checked both my antivirus programm and my firewall for a possible cause. I've also added an additional exception for the squad exe in Norton. Nothing seems to work. Thanks for any help
  10. I searched the forums and didn't find it...... Is it possible to allow sorting of the server names in the Server Browser? It would help folks find servers a lot quicker.
  11. Browser problem

    Hi i recently got this game on steam. I manage to have fun but have a major issue with the servers browser. Look like i dont get all the server when i reffresh the server list... so i cant join the same server as my friend. Some time i get lucky and the server im looking for pop on the "small" list... even more lucky is when the server is not allready full. I have antivirus (Avira) i try to play with avira turned off... same problem. Im on window 7 and i dont have this issue with all my other game. I need help please! How can i have all the server when i clicl reffresh?
  12. Not sure if this has already been suggested, though I did a quick search in the forum search bar... Will Squad be getting the Squad Spy anytime soon? I.e., be able to view the server browser from your internet browser similar to (or exactly like) the PRSPY?
  13. Menu's And Options

    Sup' everyone, So I think that a lot of the things that I will talk about in this post might have been talked about between the devs, but I havent seen anything about it on the forums. So what i'd like to talk about is the -Main menu & options -Add friends in-game -Create squads First of all i'd like to talk about the options i'd personally like to see in the main menu, and for that I have made a small concept main menu. ((BACKGROUND IMAGE BY MELBO SEE THREAD http://forums.joinsquad.com/topic/250-melbos-thread-of-war-stuff/ )) Above you can see a main menu as I personally love them. Giving a lot of information and options in a clean format. First of all we've got the option 'quik match' which I think everyone is familiar with, this just allowes you to instantly join a game on your own if you do not want to join a specific server / just dont care. You would be able to select an amount of players, which mode, and which maps you would like to play. After that we have the option 'play with friends' which also kind of speaks for itself, this would allow you to create a squad and invite friends before you even enter a server. This way you could just hang around in the lobby waiting for all your friends to arrive and drop into action together. The squadleader (creator of the squad) can invite,kick, and give other players the right to invite so they can invite their friends. I'd like to see the option to invite friends in-game so I dont have to add them on steam if I don't want to. After that we have the good old 'server browser' no explanation needed there. Im sure it will include all information and options such as 'history' (shows previously played servers) 'favorites' (shows servers you have added to your favorit list) 'friends' (shows the servers your friends are playing on) and ofcourse the 'internet' (shows all servers) which should show your ping, if its locked or not , current players / max players, mode, map name, how far in to the round the server is, and maybe even if a friend is playing on it, or if you have previously joined it. Than we have the 'statistics' option, now I dont know if this game will keep track of your kills, deaths, revives, if it will have leaderboards of some sort? But if it did, i'd definetly like to have the option to see all your stats, maybe even your friends stats. The option 'manual' speaks for itself too, i'd like to have a link on the main menu to a .pdf or a forum thread with the full manual in there. An option 'forums' to quickly reach the forums from the main menu. 'credits' and 'quit' explain themselves. Besides all of this, i'd love to see this image from melbo be the background on the game menu. I absolutely frikin love this image it would just need a few adjustments. I know most of this stuff is obvious, and will probably be in the game, anyways let me know if you like or dont like some of the options I gave here, and if you miss anything on this list. cheers, TickL Me Tibbers
