Hi all, I'm posting from my phone, so apologies in advance for any abrupt explanations or typos. I've read every single thread in this forum and have been contemplating this issue for almost 2 years now. In a nutshell, I am a UK-based (Lancashire, England) PR vet since 2007 who was part of an old PR stalwart community 'Tactics & Teamwork' [T&T] back in the days of 0.5-0.8ish when we ran one of the most popular European-based servers. The community fragmented around late-2010 and I've been without a home ever since. I have not seen many UK/EU communities fill that void in that time, or those that did are now also no longer really around. A lot has changed since back then with myself specifically. Everyone eventually has 'less time to play games because of real life and growing up', but even more so significant to me is that I have a job working shifts, including weekends and nights. This means I don't get to unwind every Saturday night, and the odd weekends I do get, I'm likely to be spending time with my very-soon-to-be-wife. When [T&T] collapsed, I didn't just lose an in-game tag and a regular server, but I also lost the group of people I played EVERYTHING with, and since beginning this job 4 years ago now, it has seemed like such an uphill battle to find a new 'gaming home', a group of English speaking (not necessarily UK based) people where there is a chance whether its 7pm on a Saturday night, 10am on a Monday morning, or 2pm on a Thursday afternoon, that I can jump onto the community teamspeak, and there will be someone there to play a game with. Any game I have, not just PR or Squad. I'm a big team player, but because of my shift-work, the last 4 years of my favourite hobby have been quite 'lonely' in that I am just 'another player'. I have no 'home', no group of regulars I can trust to play assets with. I'm at the mercy of whoever has a space open. I can't promise an event or training schedule, nor am I looking for any that are mandatory. I'm all for improving my game, but not at the threat of my membership being cancelled. I'm not looking for a PR/Squad ONLY community. I enjoy other games, RTS, MMOS. I'm looking for the flexibility of friends who I don't have to leave at the doorstep unless I'm playing a particular game. Since [T&T]'s collapse I have ran a 20-man TS3 server that is frequented by my brother, our RL friends when they want to game, the person who actually recruited me into [T&T], and his rag-tag group of players he takes under his wings from the other games he plays. That's just an aside - it's a very small family and close friends TS server, but anyone here in a similar situation to me is welcome to use it - just ask me for the details. So, enough about the past, what can I tell you about me that might make any groups out there reading this want to extend an invite? PRdating.com ad below: I'm 26 and live in the North West of England (Lancashire). I have a broad accent, and am naturally very loud. I have two very distinct modes; life-and-soul (of the party), or very serious. Each attitude betrays the other in that I can come across as two different people. This is in-part because of what I do. I work for one of the UK emergency services, and my serious side comes through that - so sometimes the outright ridiculous behaviour that can come from me is simply my ability to unwind from the things I deal with day to day. Because of my shift work, my gaming patterns are sporadic. I can tell you well in advance when I will be available because my shift pattern is predictable, but EVERY week is different and I cannot tell you that there is a single night in the week when I am always available. I'm soon to be married at the start of July, and so when I do have weekends free, I am often doing something with my fiancée, but she is very understanding of my second love (gaming), and is often happy to crack on with her own hobbies whilst I do mine. She's quite content of we're just in the same room together... But this means I'm restricted on my headset due to my loudness, hence I recently bought some wireless TV headphones for her! I love all kinds of games, but mostly MMOs, RTS and FPS. My love of gaming started with Ultima Online when I was 9. It stayed with me through my teens, as did Counter Strike and TFC amongst most MMOs to ever be released (DAoC I love you, rest in peace). I played BF2 since the Gulf of Oman demo and found a group of people to play with regularly. Purely through their need for ammo at the time I ended up playing with machine gun classes and have since become a killer auto-rifleman/MGer. In my late teens I found PR, Company of Heroes, and WoW. These days I have recently returned to PR - the last time I played was in the 2 tournaments ran by Forgotten Honor in 2013-14. I am very much looking forward to squad, and also dabble in ESO and GW2 as they're free to play. I love the GTA and total war series. In PR I am trying to become an effective squad leader, often focusing on the thing that the rest of the team is ignoring (I can see when a round is being played like a 5 year old's football match and everyone, including the goalie, is just chasing the ball and not focusing on leaving the net wide open). As I say I'm a killer machine gunner, have great estimation for trajectories on LATs and Grenadiers, but am trying to get my head around the Marksman kit as an actual contributory kit to a squad's performance. I'd play Commander more if it was actually consequential to the team's efforts and wasn't just a largely ignored position involving staring at a low-res map for an hour. I prefer infantry play for 2 reasons - one, I tend to find it to be the most rewarding, and two, the lack of regular buddies to play with, combined with the prevalence of belligerent asset whores means it's not a realistic prospect for me to use assets often. That said, I'm regularly told I'm the best trans helo pilot players have ever seen. I don't do tricks, like flying upside down, but I do the job bloody well and have enjoyed doing it since BF:V. I owe my skills to using my chopper as a 'car' and skimming the roads at top speed in hueys when bored on BF:V. It was good fun nipping around trees, and I use a mouse and keyboard. Well, that's enough of a sob story and probably more than anyone needed to read, but if I'm blunt, I'm currently itching to play PR 1.3 whilst sat in a hotel room 4 hours away from home at a friend-of-my-fiancées wedding where I don't know may people, she is the bridesmaid, and the food has made her stomach topsy-turvey, so I took my queue to shoot also, and am posting this (and on other threads) whilst my fiancée sleeps like a log. Hope to hear from players, close-knit groups, and communities alike! Please re-ignite my teamwork-lead gaming. Cheers!
